This is a can't miss place to stay in Montpelier, if you're looking for a good, standard, traditional hotel without many frills or featrures you may be used to in a top quality property--no pool, no complimentary breakfast, no all-day coffee, no complimentary newspapers...Clearly a "business-persons's" hotel, just a short walk from the State Capitol and from the main street... The hotel does what a hotel needs to do - clean place to sleep and shower. The air conditioner in the room is super loud. Plenty of counter space in the bathroom, but it would be difficult to have two people in there trying to get ready. There is a workout room, but note it is bare bones. Beggars cannot... More

This hotel is located in the heart of the government district of Montpelier -- a walk across the street to the Vermont Historical Society's museum, the State House and other government offices. In fact, there are some government offices located in the hotel itself. The hotel is old and has an odd smell in the hallways. Luckily this odor wasn't... More

We stayed one night at the hotel on our way to another destination, We were pleasantly surprised for such an old hotel. It is well kept and has free parking. The staff is very nice and accommodating. We liked the fact that we could walk to restaurants and shops. The room was nice. The only issue that we had was... More

My family of three (2 adults and 1 two year old) stayed overnight at this hotel. The parking lot is in the back and crowded, but free - there are signs in multiple places noting permits needed, but that isn't apparently the case on weekends (?). The lobby smells a bit like smoke but the staff were extremely friendly and... More

Was dreaming about eating a good waffle and having a good breakfast in general. Went to the Capitol Plaza and ordered at their nicely decorated restaurant. The waffle was delicious and big. I ordered it with some pecans and syrup. Good service and the food is very good. I would highly recommend eating there. You can also sit outside and... More

We came as refugees from a very touristy Woodstock Vermont, and were thrilled to find this hotel which has been here since the 1840`s if I have my history notes right. It still has the fine old bones of another era, but must be in transition from the old to a more modern décor, which I think is too bad...this... More

Our family voted to go back to Vermont for our summer vacation. We had a great experience at The Capitol Plaza before. This time was even better. We arrived at midnight and were greeted by friendly lady at the front desk. All the staff is friendly and attentive to our needs. You must try the restaurant J Morgans, their Weekend... More

We were Harding to Vermont this summer for a family gathering outside at Groton State Forrest at beginning of July. The Monday before the forecast was for heavy rains the coming weekend and cool weather. At the last minute we called The Capital Plaza and they had the Montpelier Room available to handle 40-60 guests for an afternoon gathering in... More

Not sure about the rooms (but really only hotel in town anyway) but the brunch on Saturday and Sunday is incredible deal and excellent. $10 on Saturday all you can eat (smaller selection than Sunday) and $19 on Sunday (huge selection.) Both are fresh, locally sourced, and worth every penny. Do not eat breakfast anyplace else but here if you... More
