I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at Phineas Swann Bed and Breakfast! The inn was beautifully decorated in a New England-themed way with a playful touch of dogs in a nod to the logo. The antiques were beautiful to see and rich in history. I stayed in the Birch Suite, which boasted a queen size bed on a four-poster antique bed frame, I felt like a princess. The room also had a fireplace, an up-to-date bathroom, a fridge, Keurig, a tv, and cold drinks waiting for us! When we checked in, we were greeted personally by the owners, Darren & Lynne. Lynne took the time to tour the premises, told us how everything worked and showed us to our room. They also had excellent recommendations for local restaurants for dinner, but the best part is they serve breakfast! I got to have the famous stuffed blackberry french toast for breakfast on Saturday morning; that was worth the drive alone! A lot of reviews mention it. Of course, if that isn't your thing, there are plenty of options. While there, don't forget to take advantage of their onsite spa. It is modern with a welcoming, warm vibe. I got a massage, a mani, and a pedi. All of the technicians were professional, kind, and welcoming. There was also a sauna, hot tubs, and Pelton bike available. The main house had plenty of space to hang out with other guests if you wanted, or you could relax in your room. Did I mention the Inn is dog friendly?! Bring your pup! Plenty of parking just minutes from Jay's peak, and Montgomery is the capital city of covered bridges, so bring your camera. I was so grateful for the hospitality and can't wait to go back! …
Nice place, good room, modern bathrooms, outdoor hot tubs in town within walking distance of restaurants/shops. Only complaint is the 15% service charged tacked on unilaterally – which we weren’t advised about when making the reservation by phone. Would have complained when we received the paper copy at the inn but it was handed to us by one of the staff members (after giving her a cash tip, mind you) so that would have been awkward. The gift shop with the inn’s brand plastered on all sorts merchandise was also a bit tacky.
Stayed 3 nights in a dog friendly suite at the Phineas Swann Inn and skied Jay Peak. This was my first time traveling with my dogs to an inn or hotel and it couldn't have better. The room was set up with dog beds and dog bowls and dog biscuits when we arrived. There was a stack of dog towels in the entry for wiping paws. The human accommodations were also excellent, very clean and comfortable The mini fridge was stocked with (free) sodas and and assortment of beer and a wine (reasonably priced) and there were snacks and fresh cookies as well. Other beer/wine and apres ski goodies were available in main inn. You can easily walk to the market or to nearby dining options. I drive an EV and they have a charger on the property. I had trouble connecting to it but there are also two free level-2 chargers at Montgomery Town Hall which is literally a few doors down so charging was no problem in the end. Jay Peak is about 9-10 miles away and they give you discount ticket vouchers. It's a good 300 mile drive for me but I look forward to coming back to the Phineas Swann Inn!…
From the moment we drove up we felt the warmth and friendliness of this property and its owners and staff ! This Victorian Inn has such beauty and charm , yet is very comfy and homey . Our room was stunning with a huge 4 poster bed and elegant decor. Although our private ensuite was actually a few steps across the hall, the slippers and bathrobes were an added bonus . We arrived after a tiring day on the ski hill , to provided snacks, hot and cold drinks and a lovely selection of beer and wine ( for a minor price) The home cooked breakfast was definitely more than we could consume but it sure was delicious! I def recommend this property and left feeling like we had met new friends.Hope to see you again soon . Thank you
From the super comfortable bed to the delicious breakfasts, snacks & beverages, Darren & Lynne have created the perfect getaway. Just minutes to Jay Peak and many wonderful restaurants. Their hospitality was impeccable....bring you swimsuits to enjoy true apres in the hot tub!
My family of 4 had such a wonderful stay here with our dog. The beds are comfy and the breakfast is outstanding. My teenage boys loved the complimentary snacks and my husband was thoroughly impressed with the craft beer selection. It was a quick and beautiful mountain drive to Jay to ski. Our dog enjoyed his walk while we were out for the day. The bulldog suite was a great choice for our family. We loved our relaxing stay here and I would highly recommend it.
Always a memorable experience!! Great breakfast and we love to be able to bring our dog and stay on the river, summer ot winter. Darren and Lynne are always so welcoming!!!! We are always looking forward to our next trip!
The hotel is a dump, the service is terrible and the only thing worse than the spa is the food. The price is ridiculous, and they add an absurd gratuity to everything despite their we barely can be bothered to try attitude
If I could give them 10 stars I absolutely would!! My husband and I spent a 3 day getaway and we LOVED it here. The tranquility here was like no other. The owners, Lynne and Darren were great - when we arrived, Lynne showed us around and let us know about the complementary snacks and drinks on the first open space of the house. I couldn't believe the range of drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic), tea, hot chocolate, coffee, snacks and homemade cookies!! We even got to meet the family pet - Maple. She was sooo cute and very welcoming. After the tour of the first floor, she took us to our room. We stayed in the Green Room - everything was so clean and so neat and we even had a plate of homemade cookies waiting for us!. She also recommended going to Bernie's, a restaurant in walking distance for dinner (we went and got 10% off because we were staying at Phineas Swann Inn). Our first night, we went to the hot tub and what a relaxing time that was!! Because we were one of two couples there, we had the hot tub all to ourselves. After the hot tub, we just sat in the back porch looking at the stars and taking in all the beauty this inn had to offer. I had two glasses of Chardonnay and it was billed to my room after checking out. We honestly couldn't have imagined staying at a better place! If you're looking for a romantic and easy getaway, this place is it!! I have realized this place is our little treasure away from home. I can't wait to come back! Thank you for everything!…
Loved the service, hosts and staff were very accommodating, room was clean, and breakfast delicious. Great location and beautiful surroundings. We stayed 3 nights in the Birch Suite and the mattress seriously lumpy and desperately needs replacing.
