Finally after 4-5 attempts we could book a room at this hotel. I believe it is the only hotel chain in Middlebury. We hear that you can book a room within 50 weeks but as of now their fall days are already booked, they even have a long waiting list. Just incredible! It is nice small hotel with a nice entrance. You have enough free parking space around the hotel. It is close to a shopping area. You are also close to restaurants in the town centre. The welcome to the hotel by the staff at the reception was very warm. The rooms are spacious and decorated as usual hotel atmosphere, nothing fancy. There is a fridge in the room. We enjoyed the stay and hopefully we will be able to come back. Would recommend if you can book it.
Hotel was clean. Staff was nice but the property is tired and in need of reservations. I never understand why Courtyard does not have free coffee in the morning but as a platinum member you do get vouchers that can cover coffee. The location is close to Middlebury College
The cost of our room was $275 and with that comes a certain set of expectations which were not met. The rooms are very dated, I found a 2-inch spider sharing the shower with me, there was no free breakfast {not even a cup of coffee!), the heating/air conditioner did not work properly, the hotel is very understaffed and during our check-out the elevator was out of order with someone stuck in it. We had to carry our luggage down the stairs from the 3rd floor. And because we were there for my granddaughter's baptism, we would have missed the entire event had we been in that elevator. The firetruck was pulling up just as we left. We are Mariott reward members and have never had an experience like this at any of their other properties. Middlebury is a beautiful town but has few hotel/lodging choices. How wonderful if Mariott would update this hotel and give its patrons and the town what they deserve.…
This is a chain hotel which means there is nothing that makes it stand out. What I did enjoy was the breakfast of french toast with fresh strawberries. The lady serviing was friendly and nice to talk with. A family was eating breakfast with the kids in their pajamas. It made it feel homey. If they could have attractive pictures of Vermont scenes in the rooms and a few colorful pillows and a plush throw it would make the room a lot more comfortable
Repeat visitors to this location and are never disappointed, The team is welcoming and polite, always willing to assist or answer questions. The location is close to Middlebury with plenty of free parking. The property may not be the newest, but the responsiveness and genuine care exhibited by all the staff make for a very easy and pleasant stay. Did not experience any of the cleanliness concerns of some other reviewers. Grocery store right across the street adds another level of convenience. Not the "Vermont Inn experience" available in the area, but a very good option when visiting the area.
I travel extensively for business, domestically and internationally. And without question, what makes a hotel exceptional as far as clean rooms, excellent food service, and accommodating staff -- is the property's General Manager. The Courtyard by Marriott in Middlebury, Vermont, has an ace running the hotel. Her name is Karrie Lamere. Today when I returned from a long day, my room somehow had not been serviced. When I called the front desk, I explained that my room had not been cleaned and could I please get it serviced. The response was amazing. The person said, "I'll be happy to take care of it now and bring you fresh towels and coffee." I was delighted with the person's tone, willingness to please, and sense of timing -- to take care of the misstep without delay. I was surprised to discover that the person who immediately volunteered to roll up her sleeves and pitch in was Karrie, the hotel's GM. I was so impressed. No wonder the staff here has a positive attitude, and all are very customer focused. Karrie is an asset to the Marriott brand. I highly recommend this hotel. My stay exceeded expectations.…
Very welcoming front desk staff. Hotel has plenty of well lit parking and easy portage of luggage. Bistro area served very good breakfast items. Location is convenient to other food options and a grocery store across the street.
I would have given this a Hotel a terrible rating but I have to point out that the staff was courteous and understanding considering that they had to repeatedly apologize for a a malfunctioning hotel. My issue is that the hotel assigned rooms that were not ready to be utilized. That being said the hotel is dated and poorly maintained regarding air conditioning and hot water. We had to change rooms 3 times on the first night, due to lack of hot water in each room. Apparently, this had been a problem but rooms were still assigned. Another issue was that the AC was not running in the eventual room and maintenance was only able to address it the next day, leading to a difficult sleepless night. Again, if the AC was not running in a room, it should not have been assigned. Also, I find it hard to believe that other hotels have 24/7 coffee available for free, yet this one charges for it. I have found hotels that charge less with free breakfast and in fact booked one such hotel after having to leave this one due to the lack of hot water being appropriately addressed. Perhaps maintenance was so overwhelmed that the technician did not remain in the room long enough after allegedly fixing the hot water to determine that it would run cold in less than 5 minutes. I would not return unless the hotel is completely renovated and updated. Start with updating the thermostats which seemed valid from the 1970's. Also, the rooms need to be aired out properly, as it was evident that one of the 3 rooms that I was shuttled to on the first and only night had smokers in it previously. It should not have been offered until completely aired out.…
I would not stay here again unless there was no other choice. The positives: The front desk people were very nice. The beds were comfortable Good shower water pressure and temperature Provided a good amount of shampoo/conditioner/body wash Beds comfortable enough. Not the best, not the worst. The negatives: The noise from the road was loud Dirtiest remote I have seen with crusted food on it (photo) Stains all over the carpet (photo of one) There was an ant crawling across the desk that I smushed (photo) - where there is one there are usually more but I did not see any more. They have some cleaning issues that I hope they will take care of. Tip - request a room as far off the road as possible.
Staff was incredibly hardworking and helpful throughout the weekend. We were attending a wedding and staff was accommodating to our big group. Room cleaning was available upon request which was greatly appreciated. Everyone was very friendly even tho they were very busy.
