We had a lovely time at The Vermont Inn. The owners and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is delicious! Convenient to Killington Ski Resort. The staff treats you like family! On one cold winter afternoon, while I waited in the cozy lounge area for the rest of my group to return from skiing, the young woman at the front desk (the owner's daughter) went out of her way to bring me a snack from the kitchen (which was closed) and a big bowl of fresh fruit, because she knew I did not have lunch. So sweet and kind of her!! They have a cute bar area where you can grab a drink on a cold wintry evening after coming back from skiing. There is a small gym perfect for a quick pre-breakfast workout. Highly recommend!
My wife and I like older, family-run inns. The Vermont Inn fits that nicely. From arrival to departure, we enjoyed it. Breakfast was delicious. We expected delays in service due to the pandemic, but had none.
On the plus side was the accommodations. The White Birches Suite was truly a delight: large, well appointed, and comfortable, expeically when it got cold and one turned the firelplace. TV was fine, but you will need to bring your own phone and your own alarm clock. The exercise room has basic equipment, and there are nice lounging areas where one can relax. Sadly, while this venue brags about its breakfasts, the service was abysmal. When we arrived to be seated, there were only 3 parties (total 9 people) already seated. Despite this, it took almost an hour to get a simple order of eggs, bacon, and toast. There was no explanation and no apology for why the delay was occurring, which spoke to the hospitality of the staff. Overall, the nicety of the facility was offset by the breakfast experience, resulting in a disappointing stay; we will not be staying there again.…
The Vermont Inn is the perfect place to get away for the weekend, take a longer trip, and even mark a major life event! I recently got married in nearby Rutland, and essentially my entire extended family spent the weekend at the Vermont Inn and LOVED it. We had a welcome reception at the Inn for all of our guests the night before the wedding, and it set the perfect tone for the entire weekend. Mike and Kayla were wonderful to work with leading up to the wedding, and so helpful with everything from coordinating reservations, catering the event, and everything in between. The Inn itself is lovely, and perfectly balances rural Vermont charm with modern comfort and amenities (and great food!). For your next weekend trip, or big event, I can't recommend the Vermont Inn highly enough!
Loved staying here. Charming, quintessential Vermont Inn with fire pit, on-site breakfast, and nearby hiking/mountain activities in a rustic setting with luxury touches. The owners are both kind and helpful. Great food nearby in Rutland at Table 24, Brix Bistro and Roots. Breakfast on site was great, home fries and french toast were slightly overdone but tasty. We were in the Dorset room which had a jet tub, so even though the outdoor hot tub was closed for Covid, we could still use the one in the room which was great. Other rooms have fire places but the fire pit was great on its own.
What an absolute gem! We’ve stayed in lots of hotels/inns around the world, but The Vermont Inn has easily leaped into one of our favorites. After a cancelled Disney trip due to COVID-19, and the loss of a very close family member in June, we decided to book The Vermont Inn just for a chance to disconnect and get away from all that had been thrown our way this year. We are so glad we did, as it was exactly what our family needed right now. From the moment you pull in, you’re greeted by the beautiful mountain-view that The Vermont Inn overlooks. The building is an old converted farmhouse. It is well maintained, and is carrying on some of the beautiful, unique characteristics of a building its age. The lobby feels homey, and there are plenty of communal/social areas including a lounge with lots of children’s movies to choose from, an adorable pub-style bar, and a dining area for breakfast. The innkeepers, Kayla and Mike, were incredibly welcoming – giving us a tour and offering an abundance of freshly baked cookies every day. Mike built us a campfire on our second evening and provided us with all the fixings to make s’mores! We stayed in the Windham Suite on the second level. The room was the perfect size for our family of three (two adults, one child). It was clean, cozy, and had air conditioning. There was a gas fireplace as well, which makes me want to return in the winter just to utilize and appreciate it! The queen bed was a bit uncomfortable, but doable. The mattress on the pull-out couch that my daughter slept it was actually surprisingly very comfortable! The bathroom is huge in this particular suite! The jetted bathtub was much larger in person than it looked in the booking photos (which was okay by us!) We used it a lot, and it was one of our favorite amenities to the suite. The shower was a great size, and the water pressure was perfection. The hot tub was closed due to COVID-19, but the pool remained open. We used it every day during our stay. It was clean and well-maintained. There is a sauna which was also kept very clean. It was easy to use, and very relaxing; especially after a cold swim. Continental breakfast is included, or you can order a country-style breakfast for a very reasonable price. We ordered the country-style breakfast, and Kayla, the innkeeper, cooked for us. The food was delicious – there was no need to check out breakfast spots as the breakfast here was great! On our last day, we asked for a late checkout which they were happy to allow. We went down to give our goodbyes and gratitude, and Kayla had a container of still-hot, freshly baked cookies waiting for us. We enjoyed them all on our drive home. All-in-all, the hospitality at The Vermont Inn has set the bar high for our future vacations. We were so impressed by Kayla and Mike’s ability to maintain such a high level of care and thoughtfulness throughout our entire trip. We left feeling like we made new friends and a new favorite place. We will return one day!…
Vermont Inn knows how to make you feel welcomed and cozy the moment you walk in. Amy & Dave are wonderful owners who ask you about your day and give you a little treat if you travel with your doggie. They took such good care of us that we didn't want to leave. We stayed at the "White Birch" room that was beautifully decorated and has a huge bathtub in it. Like Amy says, you come as a guest, leaving as a family and yes it is true! We can't wait to visit them again in the future.
Such a wonderful time staying at the inn with the wonderful owners. Everything about this place was warm, friendly and way above expectations. Our room the "White Birch" was very chic and nicely setup. The fireplace and hot tub are wonderful!
The Inn is a great location! Very close to Pico and 15 min to Killington. The Inn itself is great and has everything you could possibly need including a hottub and sauna. Baked cookies after 3 and delicious soup around dinnertime and the full breakfast was also delicious. There is a cute bar with a sitting room with some snacks and several other shared sitting rooms. Definitely try the local beer. Our room had a frig but there is also a small room with a refrigerator and microwave for everyone to use. The owners are absolutely wonderful people and very accommodating. And lets not forget DOGS are permitted in certain rooms!!
We were there for 3 nights. Great breakfast. Great location. The inn keepers were great looked after all our needs. Would highly recommend. Thanks for the homemade soup and cookies every afternoon. We all loved it.
