Once again we had a wonderful stay. Wonderful hotel, amazingly helpful, friendly staff. Morning coffee and afternoon wine all included. Comfy spotless room and all located in a great town with shopping, good restaurants and a fine museum.

Hotel's Favorite
This was an INCREDIBLE stay. My partner and his mom and I all attended an Old English Sheepdog weekend at the Taconic this past weekend, and it was absolutely wonderful. Every single staff member we spoke with was so kind and genuine, the food at the on site Restaurant, Copper Grouse, was fantastic (seriously, it was quite pricey but it was SO good we couldn't resist eating there for almost every meal!), and the hotel itself was cozy, clean, and had everything we could want in a hotel (charm, ROOM SERVICE, a fire pit, a cozy lobby, and dog friendliness). Speaking of - this was the most dog friendly hotel I've ever been to. We have an 80 pound old English sheepdog and he was welcome EVERYWHERE (and it wasn't the kind of dog friendly hotel where there is dog hair everywhere and it looks a little grungy - you seriously wouldn't know the hotel was dog friendly by how clean everything was! Also, they offered dog bowls and water for the dogs everywhere, including treats which my doggy devoured). The staff were so welcoming for our event as well (Kenny was especially sweet when it came to all of our food needs!) - we had a whole parade through the hotel and so many staff members came to cheer on the dogs and be the judges for the contest. It was a lot of fun. Also wanted to give a special shout out to Robert at the front desk, and Elle at the boutique. We had a minor scheduling issue and Robert seriously went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and felt comfortable. He was SO sweet and seriously the best ever!! He made our experience fantastic and we also just all really liked him! We left feeling like we should move to Vermont if all Vermonters are as sweet as Robert and Elle! All in all, fantastic, fantastic stay. We will 100% be back and might even make it an annual tradition!

Terrific, cozy hotel. Taconic is full of warm and rustic setting areas and decor. The one- bedroom studio suite was spacious and the fireplace was a benefit during the chilly nights. Our original standard room was too small for a party of four. Every staff member we encountered was kind and willing to please especially James- a true professional at hospitality! The hot cocoa and holiday movies for the children in the common area was a nice treat. I would suggest the coffee/tea bar stay available all day not just during certain hours. Also it would of been a nice touch if they had a sheet with local activities/events that one can book especially during the holiday season. We highly recommend Taylor Farms for sleigh ride, ice skating and tubing in Stratton.

We’ve stayed at this hotel in the past and loved it but this stay was beyond disappointing. The hotel is run with 50% of the staff it used to have. People in town say they have such a bad reputation no one will work for them. No fire in the fireplace, no bellmen and bar closes at 9:00 weekdays. The WiFi was the worst of any hotel I’ve stayed in the last 10 years. Unusable in the rooms and with no cell coverage in the hotel, except near the porch, that means no connectivity at all. The fireplace in our room didn’t work (which we paid extra for) and clearly didn’t work prior to our arrival. They offered to move us to a room with a better view but no fireplace rooms were available. No other accommodation was offered; not points, free drink or even an authentic apology. Made no attempt to fix it during our stay. I asked if I could use one of the empty conference rooms to take a call on a Friday morning, because connectivity was nonexistent in my room. The front desk said “only the general manager” knows the availability of the rooms. They were locked and there was no printout on the room plaque. I can put with a lot of things but being treated like an idiot is not one.

Room Tip: Just avoid this hotel. The gift shop is closed so even the convenience items are an inconvenience.

Hello BillH52, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are working hard to take all feedback and use it to increase guest experience. I apologize for the information that you were given from our front desk as that is not the case. I am actively working with them to increase their understanding of the operation. Again, thank you for your comments and we hope that you will give us another try.

We almost cancelled this reservation after a negative experience during a phone call trying to make a reservation for their Thanksgiving dinner. So glad we didn't!!! This is a clean and attractive dog-friendly hotel, conveniently located to Manchester Center shops and many outdoor activities. The front desk service was excellent, there are luggage carts, valet service for easy check-in; our rooms were kept clean, dog bowls were provided, there was a dog-walking station and locally-made dog biscuits to treat our pup. The three meals we enjoyed in the restaurant were top-notch. Locally-sourced, high-quality ingredients are listed on a board outside the Copper Grouse. There was a daily wine/beer complementary cocktail hour and an alcohol-free cocoa station, and a morning complementary coffee/tea bar with quality ingredients. There are games and puzzles on shelves near a large table, television and wood burning fireplace, plus a number of conversational sitting areas to enjoy. There was no indoor pool, so we enjoyed a spa day at the Equinox spa, which has many services and amenities, and we were happy with that compromise. The information we were given about meal reservations during the room reservation process was blatantly wrong, despite the agent's multiple trips to check the validity of what we were told. This caused us to end up with hotel reservations where we could not enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner experience. (I had even called the manager, who never responded.) We were told that the menu for the holiday meal wasn't out and they weren't taking reservations yet, to call the following Monday or Tuesday. Then when we called, we were told that the reservations and menu were available two weeks previous and they were fully booked. We were left with a last minute scramble to find Thanksgiving Dinner with just a week and a half until the holiday, and felt like we had been mislead just to book the rooms. (We ended up booking the holiday meal at The Equinox, where we had an excellent Thanksgiving Dinner previously.) The woman on the phone for the Copper Grouse restaurant was unpleasant and dismissive, and almost caused us to cancel our hotel reservations. So, subtract a star for that experience prior to our visit, otherwise I would say five star review. I would give the actual meals we enjoyed during the visit all the stars. My advice is that if you have trouble when trying to make your reservations, don't be dismayed -- once we got there, the facilities and service were excellent. The front desk staff went out of their way to greet us throughout the day as we came and went -- we found them so friendly and accommodating -- which really sets a positive tone. Great choice for our 2022 Thanksgiving holiday week.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Taconic. It is a beautiful hotel and everything was so clean. We enjoyed the social hour for a glass of wine each night and had an amazing dinner at the Copper Grouse. The lobby fireplace was always going and added to the cozy ambience. Both Binoy and Jennifer at the front desk were so nice and helpful. We brought our small dog for her first hotel stay and it worked out great. There are beautiful marble sidewalks right outside the hotel to head up or down Main St. for nice walks. The gym is clean and has a good selection of cardio equipment. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Manchester. The place is very nice, with many designer stores in a beautiful landscape. Despite the fireplace, the hotel seems cold and uncomfortable. In the lobby and business area you need warm clothes to stay. Room very small, several suitcases can hardly be accommodated. Heating adjustable to a maximum of 74 Fahrenheit. Room clean, but no daily room service. Restaurant closed on Thursday, hard to find alternatives without timely reservation. Within walking distance is the wonderful Silver Fork restaurant, which is preferable to the hotel's own restaurant. Breakfast a la carte. Restaurant did not look really clean and cozy, very cold, not heated despite outside temperatures around freezing, guests would have to sit in warm jackets. For,a hotel with Inn character very impersonal and purely business oriented Would probably not book again. And to all golfers, the magnificent golf course across the street from the hotel is private and cannot be played. Here the hotel could have found a solution for their guests long ago .

We checked in a day early after hating the previous hotel, so glad we did. We loved Manchester and the hotel location with lots of outdoor seating areas and a fire pit. We booked a Mountain View king room, it wasn’t huge but so comfy, I loved the toiletries, view was more a partial view and on the road but it never got noisy. Staff were mostly friendly, food was okay. We enjoyed the wine and cheese/cookies each night a lot! Some lovely places for dinner and drinks within walking distance, and more a little drive away.

We had a very nice visit. Only downside was barking dog next door to us. Police were called but no one was home so we had to listen to it for an hour 🤷🏻‍♂️ Other than that, the Doorman named Max was very helpful throughout our visit.

What a lovely spot! My kids LOVED the freshly baked cookies at the 5-6pm social hour, and we had a great time playing games on the rocking chairs on the porch. Most of all, Binoy was a wonderful front desk person welcoming us to the hotel, answering all our questions, laughing with my kids, and making sure we had a great stay. Made all the difference between a regular hotel stay and an exceptional one!
