We really enjoyed our stay at the Taconic over the holidays. In particular, Robert, who works at the front desk, was outstanding. He was so helpful with our questions, very professional and incredibly nice.

Hotel's Favorite
We spent two very pleasant nights here during a road trip through Vermont. There are actually two Manchesters in Vermont: Manchester Center, where most of the shops and restaurants are, and Manchester Village, with beautiful homes and hotels but not much else within walking distance. The Kimpton Taconic is in Manchester Village. We chose that location because we wanted to walk around Manchester Village, which is lovely. We could also walk to the Orvis flagship store. The hotel is immaculate and beautifully appointed. There is a library with several comfy chairs, good for curling up with a book. There's also a great front porch with rocking chairs, but it's right in front of the main road, so there's a lot of traffic noise. Our room was comfortable but, surprisingly, had no desk for my laptop (and there were none in the library or lobby either). There is free morning coffee in the lobby. The restaurant is booked for dinner a couple of days in advance, so if you want to eat there, make reservations early. We didn't eat there, but noticed that people were more dressed up than other restaurants we've seen in Vermont. Breakfast is not included and we ate off-site. While we had a pleasant stay, we did not think this hotel's high prices on weekends were justified. You get very little for the mandatory resort fee, for example. So if we return to Manchester we'll consider other options.

Thank you for your feedback and the compliments on the well appointed hotel. We are fortunate to be central located, but the rooms do lack the desks but have great mountain views. I am sorry to hear about the high prices on or rooms during our weekends and peak season. We do offer better rates in our off season and of course ski season.

Hotel- Kimpton Taconic Hotel (Manchester, VT) Date- 2jan until 6jan 2022 (4 nights) Overall: 5/5. Excellent. Perfect choice for a quick weekend (or mid-week) getaway! This was our second stay at this property, and each time, we leave wishing we could stay longer! Rewards Club Recognition- 5/5. Excellent. At check in, we were verbally thanked for our loyalty, and our room was upgraded. We were offered either 600 welcome amenity points or a $10 ‘Raid-the-Bar’ food and beverage credit, which we used toward the restaurant. When we reached our room, we found a card welcoming us and an ‘Inner Circle Welcome Amenity,’ a dish of fresh sliced fruit, along with two sodas, some nuts, and some M&Ms. The restaurant does participate in the “Inner Circle Chefs Taste Amenity.” We were also able to arrange for a 4pm late checkout. All special requests, such as extra pillows and a coffee maker, were in the room without having to ask. We genuinely felt like valued guests at this property. Staff- 5/5. Excellent. We spoke to Robert briefly before our arrival, and he was polite and helpful. He told us what to expect during the pandemic by answering our questions about the restaurant, the social hour, etc. When we arrived, we were checked into the property by Derek, the Assistant General Manager. He too was friendly, informative, and welcoming. We met several other staff members during this stay. Alex, the General Manager, was serving guests a taste of wine during the social hour, and she was engaging and eager to please the guests. At subsequent social hours, we got to meet Kenny, Leah, from catering & banquets, and JP, from food & beverage. All made it a point to ensure guests had everything they needed to be comfortable. On our last day, Jen from the front desk, helped us find souvenirs requested by our family. Such a great staff, I truly can’t say enough good things about them! Property Appearance & Maintenance- 5/5. Excellent. No outstanding maintenance items were evident. Exterior- 5/5. The building is attractive and appropriately decorated for the season. The valet station is visible, and the parking lot and entrance were debris free. Interior- 5/5. The lobby is inviting and stylish. Walls and carpets in the corridors are clean and have few to no scuffs. Although one elevator was not functional when we arrived, it was repaired within 24 hours; we were impressed by the sense of urgency. Accommodations- 5/5. Excellent. We were assigned a “King Studio Suite, Mobility Accessible” room type. It was spacious and had virtually everything we could possibly need. In addition to the bed and desk, we had a sofa and three chairs for ‘living room seating’ by the fireplace. The fireplace gave off just the right amount of heat for a chilly winter day. The carpet was clean and had only the fewest spots on it. Bedding was comfortable and fluffy. Although there was no bathtub, the bathroom was spacious, and the handheld shower head was nice. (The cat might disagree, but he is a clean little guy now!) Housekeeping- 5/5. Excellent. Our room was spotless. The carpets were vacuumed and had relatively few spots. All toiletry items, such as shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, facial tissues, etc., were all provided in a supply adequate for the length of our stay. Pool/Gym- 5/5. Excellent. Both a pool and fitness center are ordinarily available for guests. Of course, during the winter, the pool is closed. Breakfast/Meal Options- 5/5. Excellent. In addition to the signature Kimpton social hour (wine sampling) and complementary morning coffee service, a bodega containing the usual minibar items was present at the front desk. Hot chocolate was available from late morning until early evening. The restaurant was open Thursday through Monday for breakfast and dinner and offered a grab and go style light breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday. We were fortunate to have dinner on Monday and breakfast on Thursday before it re-closed. Both were excellent. The stars of the meals we had were the Pork Shank and the Kale Salad at dinner; they were delicious. Laundry- not evaluated. Computer/Printer/WiFi- 5/5. Excellent. WiFi was strong throughout the hotel and streaming of music and video was smooth and uninterrupted. Other- Pandemic Operations: At the time of our visit, social distancing and mask requirement signage was prominently displayed at the entrances and throughout the hotel. Sanitizing gel was available in the elevator bays, at the front desk, and throughout the hotel. Hotel employees wore masks without fail, but guests were more liberal. Masks were available for those who didn’t have them. We were advised that as an additional precaution, the restaurant is returning to take away service only. Overall, we felt the hotel did a great job working to protect their guests.
