We loved everything about the Barnstead Inn. It started with the beautiful cozy room, then extended to the amazing Sarah, who held great conversation with us each day and made amazing drinks and cheesy bread in the tavern. She was wonderful in every way possible. Then there was Meg who was warm and friendly; like hanging out with an old friend you’ve known for years. The dogs; what do we say about the dogs?! They are the cutest and most friendly dogs I’ve ever met - we loved hanging out and playing with them throughout our 4-day stay. Uncle Joe was great too - he makes a wonderful pot of coffee - felt like he could have been our uncle! The Barnstead is its own unique experience and there are no words for how gracious and welcoming everyone was - the best and most relaxing experience we’ve had! Make sure you grab breakfast each day - delicious! The atmosphere inspired a wonderful sense of community and we loved the other guests we met in the tavern and at breakfast. We’ve already booked for next year!

We stayed only one night in the Barnstead Inn, but upon checkin we immediately wished we could stay longer. We booked the Hildene suite, which is every bit as impressive as it appears in the photos. The bed was comfortable, the room was beautiful and luxurious, and the inn owners were hospitable and accommodating. The on-site tavern was fun for a drink at the end of the evening, and we wished we had more time to spend at the very cozy outdoor fire pit. The Barnstead Inn is just a short walk from the main street through town - out of the way enough to be quiet but close enough that you don't have to drive to get to the very cute bookstore or many places to eat. Breakfast was made to order and delicious! The resident dogs were friendly and adorable. On our next visit to Manchester, we will be sure to book a longer stay!

We stayed at the Barnstead Inn in August 2022 for a wedding in the area and had a great stay. The hosts are wonderful and took great care of us. We arrived early and were invited to leave our bags and explore the town. Some of their housekeeping staff was sick with Covid so they were short staffed and still managed to get us into our room ahead of schedule. The room was impeccably clean and the air conditioner was cranking which was nice because it was a hot one. The bathroom was large and the shower a work of art. Great water pressure! The breakfast was very delicious...my favorite was the French toast. There's a nice selection of coffee and snacks available all day. We did not have a chance to take advantage of the bar that was heartily stocked with an impressive collection of whisky and bourbon. There's a lovely large dog there--King--who was a lot of fun to hang out with. There's also a nice outdoor area to have a picnic under umbrellas. The pool looked very inviting but, again, we did not have time to use it. This establishment is walking distance from the small town of Manchester Center that has several restaurants and cafe's as well as some really good shopping. Lots to explore in the area. We would stay there again and again.

We needed a place to stay about halfway from our home in the Finger Lakes to Camden Maine. Manchester Center seemed like a good place to land. We reserved a room and arrived late afternoon. Greeted by the innkeeper, she showed us to the room in the old cow barn building. It was nice enough, but a bit odd. First of all, the sink was nestled into a corner of the bedroom with ho space to put anything down on it. The toilet and shower were adjacent, and they were fine. The bed was fine. But no closet to hang anything up, but there was a clothes rack. Kind of in the way for middle of the night wandering. Plus some trip able cords also in the way. Because this place is a B&B, breakfast was included. The specialty was blueberry pancakes and bacon. It was delicious! Actually the highlight of our stay. The innkeeper was gracious and very friendly. The two inn dogs, Lucky and King, were extremely friendly. Overall, a nice stay.

The rooms, the gardens, and the innkeeper are all top notch. The rooms are unique, and large, comfortable, and quiet. Fire pits were lit at night and a great way to mingle with fellow guests. The staff brought drinks and food to us while we relaxed. Breakfasts were amazing - eggs Benedict one morning, blueberry cream cheese stuffed French toast the next. Andrea and her staff are friendly and responsive. I will definitely stay again.

My husband and I just returned from a 3-night getaway to Manchester, VT. Our stay at the Barnstead Inn couldn’t have been better! Andrea and her staff made sure we had everything we needed…from a daily delicious breakfast to hiking and golf recommendations to the best places to dine. The inn itself is immaculate with spotless rooms and lovely decor as well as the beautifully kept grounds! In the evenings, you can enjoy a drink from their own tavern as well as enjoying time by their outdoor fire tables where you can relax and meet new friends. And if you’re a dog person like me, you will definitely enjoy the company of King and Lucky, the mascots of the inn. :) Don’t bother looking any further…book your stay here. I promise you won’t be sorry!

The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The grounds are perfect for meeting new people around the fire pits, or at the bar. Breakfast was a treat, they surprised you every day with what they were making. The location is great, right down the block from the center of town. The best part about it was the people, and dogs who run the place. They made you feel at home, and seeing King and Lucky every morning for breakfast made us smile.

Nothing but wonderful things to say!!! The Barnstead Inn is absolutely stunning and incredible! We stayed in the Hildene Suite and my jaw dropped when we entered the room; it is breathe-taking! The room was immaculately clean and comfortable! The breakfast was delicious and the sitting area is so cute and homey. The pool was spectacular and just what we needed after a long day of hiking! The gardening around property is also gorgeous and vibrant! We enjoyed the drinks at the bar (Sarah is so nice and welcoming!) and playing corn hole too! King and Lucky (the dogs) are so adorable and friendly! We will be coming back; thank you for the incredible memories!

Hi Lindsay, I am so glad you loved your stay. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t actually tried the Hildene Suite ourselves when we completed the remodel of it. It’s our FAVORITE! It gives that feel of what should be a master suite on Yellowstone! Masculine but loaded with warm wood tones and all the luxury amenities. We hope to see you both very soon, be well and happy travels to you!

Just had a fantastic stay at The Barnstead Inn. I kinda stumbled upon The Barnstead and glad that I did. Andrea and Pete (and King!) were great hosts who loved to chat about their inn and the area but let you be to enjoy their facility. For accommodations we stayed in The Hildene Suite and it was spectacular: charming, but modern and well thought-out. The in-room king bed, soaking tub, the double shower and the gas fireplace made the room better than we could have imagined. Additionally, the food (breakfast included), drink (bar on the premises), and amenities were all five star. Highly recommended.

Appreciate all the thoughtful details in your review. I am so glad you got to be one of the first to enjoy the new Hildene Suite. I agree 100% that it is "spectacular!" I would be lying if Pete and I said we haven't tried staying in it ourselves, haha, the best stay-cation suite on the property! We hope to see you very soon and can have a longer stay. Thank you and be well, Andrea.
