Detailed Reviews
The Northshire Lodge is a quiet, comfortable, 15 unit motel set back just enough from route 7A that road noise is not an issue. The rooms are not fancy, but they are good size and have everything one might need. The furniture, including the king bed, is very comfortable. The room has excellent WiFi, cable tv, and a DVD player. A good selection of DVDs is available in the reception area. A coffeemaker and small refrigerator are in each room. Wine and beer can be purchased in the reception area.
The Northshire has done a nice job with Covid restrictions. We felt very safe. The restrictions have forced them to change their usual breakfast service and to temporarily close their taproom. Our fully cooked breakfast was ready at the time we had set for it. We brought it back to our room to be enjoyed.

In addition up updating and refreshing the rooms your hosts Tim and Kerry have implemented safety protocols and cleaning with multiple options for dining and room cleaning. Homemade hot breakfasts are a perfect start to the day. The Northshire has a wonderful view from all the rooms. The pool with new liner is ready to go as of Memorial Day weekend. The Battenkill River is literally across the street and the Northshire is a short drive to Manchester and other Vermont attractions.

I am what many will call a fussy guy. Every time we have stayed at the Northshire Lodge we have been 100% pleased The rooms are impeccably clean, the innkeepers ar just plain friendly, Kerry Tim are sweethearts. Plus you get a choice of a free breakfast, I always get the pancakes which are always one of the choices. They are served with butter and Genuine Vermont Maplee Syrup, no store bought syrup here !
Just an FYI, if you have breakfast in town, it" probably about $30.00 for two. Will I go back, YES, actually we try to go back at least once a year...

Would have given 10 stars, but no option for that. Kerry and Tim run a great place at North Shire Lodge. Location is great, value is awesome, rooms were extremely clean and well stocked with everything we needed. If you’re a bourbon lover, hit the pub for sure and have Kerry make you a Manhattan.... simply amazing! Tim does an awesome job on breakfast. Ingredients are all fresh, and the breakfast is so tasty. They also did a really great job of ensuring everyone was save during the pandemic, which make their jobs way more difficult. We are definitely going to return!

North Shire Lodge was just what we needed for a weekend gateway. Affordable, peaceful, beautiful views, and great service. If you're looking for entertainment during the quiet hours, they also had cable and a wide selection of DVD's to chose from. Room was clean and everything was just as pictured. They provided basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion). We chose to have breakfast at the lodge and the pancakes did not disappoint! Will definitely be returning here the next time we're in Manchester.

We have stayed here in the past and we have always enjoyed it. This past week's stay of two nights was no different. The unique rooms are very comfortable and clean, homemade breakfast was delicious, and the views in the foothills of Mt. Equinox are beautiful. We love the Mountain View Pub on the premises where you can chat with owner/bartender Tim and other guests. Kerry (owner) is helpful and pleasant and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. The location in Manchester is great with easy access to restaurants, Mt. Equinox, shopping, etc, yet far enough out of the traffic and congestion so it is peaceful. We love the casual, friendly atmosphere and will return soon.

We recently spent four nights at the North Shire Lodge while in Manchester visiting old friends from the University of Vermont, some of whom I had not seen in 40 years! The lodge was great! It's located a couple of miles south of Manchester proper, in a very pretty location. The lodge reminds me of 60's style motel, but totally upgraded and the decor was in keeping with the area. The room itself was very nicely sized, we didn't feel cramped at all. Plenty of drawer and closet space, a very nice king bed and a great view out the back. Our hosts, Tim and Kerry, could not have been nicer. We had the pleasure of getting to know Tim, the amazing family historian, as he prepared cocktails for us in the totally cool pub (I highly recommend the Maple Old Fashioned with Mad River Revolutionary Rye). Breakfasts were served in the bar area/outside, which was just lovely on a nice summer morning. We also got to meet their dog, Riley, who just wants to be everybody's friend! All in all a great stay! We have stayed in "fancier," more expensive places in the Manchester area before, all of which are nice, but we will always stay at the North Shire Lodge whenever we return to the Manchester area!

This Lodge is well maintained, and set in a great spot just minutes from the center of Manchester village. My wife and I were looking for a relaxing and cozy getaway, and Northshire nails it. The rooms were sufficient, the bed was large and comfortable, the decor matched the lodge look, and the hospitality was genuine. Tim & Kerry were more than accommodating. At this time, they were attentive to COVID regulations and did what they could to ensure we still had a pleasant time. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, which we dined outside our room looking towards the mountain view. If you are looking for a lodge with a modern look then this is not the place, but if you're looking for a Vermont feel to cozy up with a loved one or small family, then this is it. The units were clean and smoke-free. Up to date utilities are available (iPhone docks, USB docks, TV, AC, Heat). 8 to 5 minutes from Skyline Drive, Hildene Museum, various trails, Equinox Pond etc.

Our hosts were friendly and very attentive. They knew we had a tight timeline for getting to the airport and so they provided our special breakfast early on our last day. The blueberry pancakes were delicious! We also enjoyed relaxing in the pub in the evenings and sitting out on the lawn in the mornings, watching the fog lift over the mountains. They provided discount tickets to Hildene, a nearby attraction that was well worth the visit. They even provide sturdy walking sticks for guests to take with them on local hikes around the area. The room was clean and well equipped. This is definitely a place I will book for my next visit to the area.

We were lucky to find availability at the North Shire Lodge during President's Day weekend! Our room was perfect for our family of four (two adults, two boys 15 and 11). Two queen beds and nice decorations in the room, and the bathroom just fine for us.
Very conveniently located just down the road from the center of Manchester (a short drive) and only 15 minutes to Bromley and 30 minutes to Stratton. Breakfast was included and was delicious - pancakes, omelets and more were served, along with bagels, toast and english muffins. The Pub was cozy and well appointed - nice to sit by the fireplace and have a drink!
Great value for your money and the staff was super nice and accommodating. Highly recommended!
