We loved our spacious two bedroom suite and view of the Green Mountains. Very clean and comfortable and great to be able to park your car right outside the room. My travelling companion uses a walker so we got a room with a walk in shower and bathroom equipped with grab bars. The breakfast was great-fast and easy as you order the night before. The pool is also wonderful and fun to take a dip after a day of sightseeing. And sitting on our deck, having drinks and snacks looking at the mountains so nice. Personnel all efficient, friendly and helpful. Grounds are beautiful. Just a quick ride to downtown Manchester with all its restaurants and fun shops. We highly recommend it!

We were in VT for a wedding, and the recommended places to stay were all expensive inns or chain hotels. We’re SO glad we chose Manchester View: I’m sure none of those other places had the gorgeous view we enjoyed from the deck outside our room! We brought out breakfast back and ate at the table provided there. (The breakfast was good — I don’t know how Chris got our bagels perfectly toasted and still warm when we picked them up! Choice of fruit, cereals, juices, yogurts. We also really appreciated the Keurig coffee maker in our room.) The grounds are extensive and beautifully maintained. The bath was a pleasure at the end of a long day and the water pressure was excellent. Housekeeping was great. All the staff was pleasant and helpful. Almost best of all was the QUIET, although the rooms on either side of us were occupied. Perhaps older construction is more solid? So often in lodging we’ve been able to hear every word of a conversation next door — it can be torture — so that was greatly appreciated. We would most definitely recommend The Manchester View to anyone we knew to be visiting in the area, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

The Manchester View is absolutely lovely, and the staff is friendly. My charming room was decorated with fancy antiques, the King size bed was impossibly comfy and clean, and the patio was quiet and serene with marvelous views of the sublime VT mountains and foliage! Highly recommend.

I am trying to understand how this hotel/inn has received such positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Yes, the setting and grounds are beautiful and the view from the little deck outside my room was lovely. And I suppose some of the rooms have been updated, renovated, etc... But, while it was clean and neat, my room smelled of stale cigarettes, perhaps from a time when this was not a smoke-free location. There is no doubt that my room suffered from a tired and stale gestalt. And I do, like some other reviewers, consider the room I had to be more in keeping with what one would expect of a motel and not an inn or a B&B. There was nothing quaint or charming about it. I have recently returned from a two-week vacation in Greece and all the beds in the various hotels in which I stayed there were far more comfortable than the bed I slept in at Manchester View. I slept poorly here and, while I only stayed for one night, I was happy to leave. Also, it would have been nice to have breakfast available starting at 7am rather than 8am.

Since most of our guest reviews are highly rated, we are very proud of the property. We're sorry the Manchester View did not meet your expectations nor needs. In response to your comments: the property has been smoke-free for many years, and if housekeeping finds that a room has been smoked in, a fee of $250 is charged; no one has temped fate in quite some time. If you read our reviews, you'll see that guests find the Manchester View to be cozy and in keeping with Vermont's theme. It is not a modern hotel and doesn't profess or try to be. Our complimentary Continental breakfast is offered from 8:00 to 9:30 am. Guests who leave earlier may choose to eat at one of several excellent eateries in town that our staff gladly recommends! We do hope you enjoyed your visit to Manchester, and will come back to southern Vermont. We suggest you look online for modern accommodations that may better meet your needs.

Can't beat the view from Grandma Moses or Calvin Coolidge Suites. Property very well maintained. Housekeeping was perfect. Check in person Robin, very nice and helpful. Comp breakfast was sweet and easy eating in a Central room or back in own space.
Furnishings can use some updating but suffice. A tad thrown off by many steps down to Grandma Moses. We are seniors. Mini fridge housed in large bathroom definitely should be in dining space along with a microwave if possible. Water pressure very low in shower and toilet. Location and property are wonderful and make up for few things mentioned. We look forward to returning again. 4.7 rating

We appreciate the high score and compliments, as well as the issues you mentioned. There are several rooms and suites on lawn level (downstairs); the descriptions of each include location being on the main level or lower level. The stairs include 6-8 steps to a landing and the same number of steps to the lower level. The Grandma Moses suite was downstairs while Calvin Coolidge was not. We do have microwaves available upon request. The refrigerators are in the bathroom because they cycle on and off, and may disturb guests' sleep; also, there is no dedicated dining space in most rooms to put the fridge in. We do hope you visit again and choose a main level room or suite to avoid stairs.

This is a very nice hotel (motel), and very good value for cost. Location is quiet (despite being just off the highway). The grounds are very, very nice ... pleasant to stroll, and absolutely serene to just sit at various points (they have strategically placed Adirondack chairs around the grounds) and just stare at the mountains.
Rooms are relatively large, very clean, and well equipped.
The hotel is "pet friendly" for smaller dogs (at a very reasonable up-charge). We've never heard any inappropriate barking, and being able to travel with our own well-behaved pet has been a nice benefit.
If I have find something to "complain" about, it would be that breakfast (included) is limited to coffee and pastries (and doesn't start as early as I would like). (Note: there is coffee in the room for people like me.) This isn't really a problem, given that it's only about a mile into town, where there are several wonderful breakfast options.

Thank you so much for the best score and lovely review. We're glad your pup enjoyed their stay, too! As for our complimentary Continental breakfast, we don't have pastries; however, we do offer 3 types of juice, 2 kinds of in-house made muffins, toasted bagel and English muffin, fresh fruit, yogurt, Cheerios, and hot beverages including tea and Vermont's own fresh brewed Green Mountain coffee. Thanks for staying with us at the Manchester View!

The Manchester View is just a few minutes drive from Manchester with a great view of the surrounding mountains. In the past we've only stayed in the smaller motel-like rooms, which are pretty basic but comfortable. This time we discovered the Rudyard Kipling room, which is a spacious room with a sofa, a little work area with a table, another little alcove with some of Kipling's books, and a spacious bathroom with separate shower and a little jacuzzi tub. We really enjoyed it, and we've always found the people who work there to be pleasant and helpful.

Your lovely review and high rating is appreciated. The Manchester View is in the town of Manchester Center, just under 2 miles from downtown. Located in a valley between the Green and Taconic Mountain ranges, our views are spectacular! we're so glad you got to experience the Rudyard Kipling room; it is cozy and comfy. We stayed in October 2023 and had a wonderful time. We had our small dog with us. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and comfortable. The views are outstanding and the grounds are immaculate. We really loved our room that has a big private deck and a wood burning fireplace. They refresh the wood and set it up to be lit each evening. A fresh and delicious continental breakfast is included. We went after the Columbus Day holiday so it was very quiet and peaceful. Also, a short drive to great shopping and restaurants.

We're so glad you and the pup enjoyed your stay with us. We love dogs, and allow them to join their families here at the Manchester View as long as they are 40 lbs. or less (there's a $20 per night, per pet fee). Most rooms are pet-friendly, although we have several pet-free rooms for guests who are allergic. Coming right after Columbus Day is the perfect time to enjoy leaf-peeping during a more peaceful time in town. We do hope you and the dog will visit again next time you're in southern VT.

We stayed in one of the suites, which I would definitely do again. They are very spacious and the living room and deck make it feel much more like an apartment versus hotel room. The bed and furnishings are very comfortable, and the property was spotless and well cared for. The property is dog friendly and we enjoyed being able to walk our dog on the spacious grounds. A basic continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The staff was very friendly. There was a glitch with my bill and it was quickly resolved. The property was full but found it to be quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Hi! Our suites do not have kitchens. All rooms and suites have Keurig coffee makers and small refrigerators. We're considering microwaves in all the rooms, as they currently have to be requested. Not yet, though, in every room without request.
A Two-Bedroom Suite has 2 bedrooms, each with a king bed, and a queen sofa bed in the living room. Ideally, 5 would be comfy; 6 might be a little tight. 8 guests is a NO. Also, be aware there's one bathroom. The Two-Bedroom Queen Suite has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and 2 queen sofa beds in the living room. This might be better for 6 guests. Still NO for 8.
The Manchester View offers a complimentary Continental breakfast daily in our breakfast room, and guests may also bring their selections to the rooms/suites. In the warmer months (end of April through October) it's very nice to sit outside and eat on the decks outside each room/suite.
We do not allow smoking on the premises. If there are no other rooms occupied nearby, we may allow smoking outside; permission is required for that to be acceptable. There is a substantial penalty for smoking inside any room/suite.
"The suite would be a good choice for a family with a good amount of space and 2 toilets. I assume the pool would also be a draw for families in addition to the grounds. "
