We stayed in the main hotel on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The room didn’t have working air conditioning. We didn’t notice until after we returned from dinner and drinks in the hotel (which was lovely). We probably should’ve noticed earlier because housekeeping had left a huge fan in the room. We called the front desk manager around 10 pm and she was helpful. She sent an engineer immediately to the room, and when the engineer couldn’t fix the AC, she looked to see if she could move us, but the hotel was sold out. We considered driving home, the heat in the room was so oppressive, but we’d had drinks with dinner so that wasn’t wise. We looked at moving to another hotel in the town, but they were all sold out as well. We stayed, managed to sleep a few hours and left early Sunday. It was a miserable night. I’ve sent an email and left a voicemail with the Assistant Front Office Manager, Josh Williams, and he hasn’t bothered to respond. The Equinox is a beautiful place to stay in a magnificent setting (albeit as another reviewer points out, it’s a little rough around the edges). But to, it appears, knowingly sell a room without air conditioning during a heat wave (someone at the hotel knew about the lack of AC because housekeeping had left the fan) is at worst, a classic bait and switch and at best, an example of truly terrible customer service. Mr. Williams’ lack of response is consistent with both conclusions.…
We stayed at the Marsh House and had a wonderful experience. It was immaculate and so spacious. Plenty of towels and toiletries so we never had to call for more which they had told us to call if needed when we checked in. Service was a little slow at the tavern, but we had patience knowing how restaurants are dealing with help and shortages presently. Golf was great. We used the pool that had plenty of towels and chaises. The tennis courts were in great shape, too. Obviously, we are an active group and the Inn provided us. Also, appreciated dining suggestions from Josh at checkin.
My family of four and our dog stayed in the newly renovated townhomes adjacent to the main hotel. Although we have stayed in the hotel on a number of occasions, this was the first time we stayed in the townhomes, which were really terrific. Very spacious and comfortable with great decks and patios. Amenities and service of the hotel was fantastic despite labor scarcity. Everyone did an A+ job making our stay as comfortable and family-friendly as possible.
We got a third night free which is why I'm giving them 3 stars. The grounds, spa pool and public rooms are still lovely but they are definitely short staffed like everywhere else. We didn't eat at the restaurant because of the very limited menu. I stayed here 5-6 years ago and it was top notch luxury. Since a private equity group bought them they are not spending $$ on staff, food or facilities. Very sad for what was a beautiful destination.
My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the Equinox resort. Our room was large and was in the historic presidential wing. Coffee every morning with views of Mt. Equinox was a delightful way to start your day. There are many restaurants both at the hotel and with in walking distance. We enjoyed golfing, hiking, and site seeing during our stay. The resort is beautiful and the staff attentive.
I would not recommend the Equinox Hotel, Manchester, VT to anyone. After a busy day horse showing I went to relax in our room. After an hour I had to go to the front desk to complain. For 1 hour I had to listen to a dog bark on and off. I had no idea that dogs were allowed never mind I would be in a room next to one. Then we decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was only us and one other couple in the restaurant. Our serve was extremely slow. It took over 25 minutes for him to greet us and another 25 minutes get our drinks. My grandniece's hamburger was like a burnt hockey puck. Our Watermelon Feta salad was good but only had 5 bites to it. Our chicken dinner was average. Then it took half hour to get our bill once we asked for it. There was a wedding going on and I think our server was working that also. Once back in our room, we pulling the bed covers down and there were stains on the white sheets. Multiple stains. I took several pictures. That was it for us. We went to the front desk, complained about our stay and checked out. I was told by the female manager that my credit card would be credited for a full refund. I called every day for the next 5 days, no one from Equinox would return by calls. I then called the Credit card company and filed a dispute. 2 days later the hotel manager Joshua sent me an email crediting my card. He wrote if there was anything he could do for us, just to let him know. I explain a free night stay to compensate for all their aggravations and my 3 hours ride home at 7pm would be appropriate. He said he would have to ask the General Manager Jay. I sent GM Jay all the email that Joshua and I exchanged. I asked for him to call me. That was over 2 weeks ago. You can see by their behavior and lack of response to me, shows that why don't care about customer satisfactions or return for future stays. They just wanted the money. Lots of my Equestrian friends and I will not be staying at this hotel anymore. Debra B. Modugno…
Visited as a relatively last-minute 2-night solo golf excursion. For a short stay, the hotel has perfectly sufficient dining options but the surrounding town of Manchester really opens up the possibility of a longer stay. I went mostly for the golf and it did not disappoint. The course was in excellent condition and teeing off in late afternoon one can fly around in around 2.5 hours. I ended up having a semi-emergency change of plans and the front desk staff (managed by Josh) was very pleasant in handling my changed reservation. I will definitely go again.
I stayed for three nights for a family wedding. The staff and service are outstanding--friendly, attentive, generous-- including immediate help with a safe issue. The grounds and public spaces made it possible for many people to gather and visit. Appreciate the coffee service; didn't eat on the property. Room was spacious and clean. (It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator.) My dog stayed with me. So good to be able to stay in a very nice hotel with her. I will definitely return.
I enjoyed a two day stay at the Equinoxin Manchester, including their partnership with Land Rover offroad driving adventure, proximity to great restaurants, and eclectic amalgamatioin of historic buildings. The Equinox staff was accommodating and friendly.
We are in one of the “renovated” townhomes (~$900 per night) and honestly this is one of the worst hotel experiences I can remember. First of all, I don’t believe whoever writes copy for the website know the definition of “renovated”. It’s kind of a dump. The phone doesn’t work and the hotel handyman can’t fix it, so we need to walk to the main house whenever we need something. For example, the hotel’s WIFI stopped working about 22 hours ago. The front desk could not be less helpful. Some wall outlets are dead, the furniture is beat-up, and the “fully stocked” kitchen is a joke. I will never stay here again and will tell everyone I know to avoid it.
