Hotel's Favorite
It's a great B&B. Great helpful staff, super comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Stayed in Snow Flake room. 3 very minor quibbles - first, they need to have more outlets on BOTH sides of the bed, and the radio's should have connections for newer phone chargers. Next the TV should be a smart TV. Last but not least, I wish there was an option for traditional breakfast served by waiters in the dining room. Picnic basket worked out fine, but that's my preference. Again - minor quibbles - had a GREAT stay! :)

We had a wonderful visit at this charming hotel. Our stay was for 2 nights in the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Suite. Since we were staying on a Mon/Tues the hotel was moderately quiet; just what we like! Our room was spacious with a entry/bench on the ground level and a nicely appointed landing, sitting room, bedroom and beautiful bathroom on the 2nd level. Very comfortable spaces! (Only drawback was that the street noise from truck traffic got a bit heavy just before dawn. If you're a light sleeper, staying in this suite, maybe bring earplugs or white-noise player). I loved the spacious bathroom! The jetted tub was so nice (didn't turn on the jets, though). Frette robes seemed to be quite nice. Complementary toiletries were upgrades from standard hotels. Having a magnifying mirror was a plus. We very much enjoyed our breakfast hamper each morning. I believe it was also possible to have breakfast in the dining room, but having those lovely hampers brought to the room was very special. Continental breakfast was very well proportioned for us and thermos of coffee was wonderful (Even though the room had a Kuerig, I like a fresh brewed pot). Room also had nice (glass) bottled water. Hotel restaurant wasn't open early week, but we had wonderful meals at Ye Old Tavern (upscale) and Christo's (very casual). The staff at TRP were really great! Kathleen accompanied us to our room, showing us around the space and giving us some helpful info. She advised us about dining options (limited early week) and made a booking for us at Ye Old Tavern, when we probably couldn't have gotten in otherwise. So nice! In the morning, Richard was likewise very helpful with giving us guidance about hiking in the area and selling us tickets to Hildene (@ discount from tickets bought onsite). The grounds are beautiful; we would have enjoyed having an evening drink by the pond, if we weren't so busy. On our departure, a beautiful grey Herron came walking across our path. He seemed right at home as I think any guest would feel here!

We stumbled upon the Reluctant Panther while looking for a romantic weekend getaway in southern Vermont. We were not disappointed. This cute inn has 20 rooms and a restaurant that caters to guests who want a quiet weekend away from the stress of daily life. the rooms are decorated in a classic colonial style. Ours had a memory foam bed with a fireplace which was a nice touch. The restaurant serves inspired cuisine and world class. The free breakfast was also very tasty.
The service is excellent!

After an awful night at the Barrows Inn, where we experienced the rudest service I have ever encountered, we made a last minute reservation at the Reluctant Panther! WOW what a difference! From the moment we made the call, the staff was polite, cheery and eager to please. The inn, unlike Barrows, has the small touches of a high end hotel, a welcome card with homemade Carmel corn, lovely coffee and tea assortments, high end bath products, and turn down service with freshly made cookies. More importantly the service was top notch and friendly. The room was also beautifully decorated with easy to use gas fireplaces (2 in the suite), a modern luxury bath, and excellent bedding. The restaurant was excellent and fine dining that was also child friendly. We truly cannot say enough about the Reluctant Panther and will be back!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nice location just off the main road through town. No hot water for 5 AM shower but forgot to ask why. There were abundant towells, pillows and blankets with lovely touches like a welcoming note, bottled water and home-made turndown cookies. Also, a nice tea at 4 PM outside the restaurant area.

Very pleasant bedroom and bathroom suite with ample room and plenty of comfort. Good mattress and lighting, quality towels and amenities.
The restaurant experience for dinner was also very pleasant. Food and service were good and we were seated in a room off the main dining area so it was quiet and good for conversation.
But.
Although we booked a third night; we still received no room service. We assume the lack of standard room service (changing of towels, making of bed, emptying of waste baskets) began with Covid and has continued for cost saving reasons for the inn. At $300 per night, this felt a bit exploitive.
We felt the same about breakfast. A basket of cold food and drinks may sound charming but we did not find it so and would have preferred to sit and be served from a menu including hot and cold items.
We love this area of Vermont and will no doubt return, however, it is unlikely it will be to the Reluctant Panther.

A true boutique hotel experience. We booked the Epicurean Experience package. A wonderful bottle of wine and an assortment of cheese was waiting for us when we arrived. Each morning we received a basket of fruit, yogurt, granola, muffins, juice and coffee delivered to our room. The package also included dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food and cocktails were outstanding! The staff at the hotel were friendly and very accommodating. We will be returning.

What a delightful dinner we had on a recent Saturday night while on a weekend getaway. From the moment we were greeted by the friendly and energetic host, to the excellent service and food, we really enjoyed our experience. It is clear the team is well managed and customer focused. We loved our waiter, a tall and very helpful man who clearly excels at his job. Our meals were delicious: cucumber/avocado soup to start, sea bass and vegetarian risotto for each of us respectively and the perfectly portioned baked Alaska for dessert. We’ll be back!!!

Maybe it was an off night. Maybe. Started off well with delicious rosemary bread and sesame rolls The falafel appetizer had nice sauces to go with it but the 4 falafel balls were very overfried and small. I had the shortribs which when served looked like something out of a college cafeteria, with the meat (not real short rib but that brisket like pale substitute) dumped on mashed potatoes (maybe real, maybe not) and with that pile of corn on the side (maybe frozen, maybe not). "My wife had trout "stuffed" with crab. It was a smear of crab at best. Didn't bother with dessert. Service was fine.

We dined at the restaurant, the surrounding inn cottages looked very nice. May consider staying there next trip. Our food was very good, two had the halibut, and two had the filet mignon. The price was high, but not outrageous and the service was terrific.
We sat outside, weather was perfect. desert was It was a truly memorable evening. You can walk there in 3-5 minutes from Equinox or the Kimpton where we lodged.

Hello Ken,
Our guests enjoy a full cooked to order breakfast, served with your choice of juice and coffee or tea, along with daily house made pastries. You will be able to choose from our house made granola with yogurt and fresh fruit, our daily omelette, eggs cooked to order and golden brown pancakes with Vermont's favorite liquid: maple syrup!
We are so impressed on how many of our guests have contributed to your question!
If there is anything special we may assist with for the birthday celebrations, please do not hesitate to ask.
Safe travels and see you soon.
