The Summit Lodge has been one of our favorite places for the last 6 years. We go for the ski races Thanksgiving weekend. It is old and showing its wear but the current owners are constantly reinvesting in updating the facility. The pros: - it is the coziest place you can imagine with a huge living room with a gigantic wood-burning fire place and great decorations - there is a huge like 20' diameter indoor hot tub which has been recently rebuilt - heavenly - there is a heated outdoor pool right outside the hot tub - there is an Irish Pub in the building with live entertainment starting at 6 pm on weekends - the food is good and it can get rowdy (good and bad) in the pub The cons: - the establishment has become less warm and inviting since CoVid and doesn't feel as welcoming - a wonderful cooked breakfast buffet has been replaced with a continental breakfast worthy of a budget motel - the shuttle to the base lodge has been eliminated - it used to feel like "coming home" but we didn't have that response this trip

The most recent reviews are several months old and from folks who have stayed previously. I don't have anything to compare it to, first time was in July for the Killington Wine Festival. Outdoor pool with poolside wait service was nice :) Robes in the room to wear to and from the pool was nice :) Decor is a bit dated and rustic, but I am one of the few who don't book a room to look at the decor. Bed? Check. Bathroom? Check. Only downside: included breakfast (standard continental fare, don't get too excited about it) wasn't served until 8 and no coffee/tea until then either. All staff we encountered were very nice. Stay again? You bet!

It's a shame. This could be such an outstanding property with just a bit of TLC. An outdoor paint job, updating the existing electrical outlets in the rooms and perhaps adding a few more (lots of gadgets to charge in 2022) instead of only two in a room and reinstalling the shuttle to the mountain would be a start. Our room also needed a new bathroom door since it did not close properly. We understand it's covid, but beginning breakfast at 8 am is just too late for those of us that want to get in a full day of skiing. The positives: Beds and bedding were great. Outdoor heated pool and sauna were very relaxing after a day on the slopes. The restaurant has wonderful food and our bartender/ waitress was excellent.

We have been coming here for 15 years. The amenities have diminished. We overlook the outdated rooms in exchange for a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately that was not the case this visit. Left heartbroken, like we lost a good friend.

Stayed at Summit Lodge as the trip leader for a 35+ person ski club trip the first full weekend in January. We've been running this trip the same weekend in January every year since 2012 and had been at another property the previous 5 or 6 years, but a new ownership group raised the group rate lodging prices there to an untenably high level and I decided to look elsewhere for this season. After having hosted the trip at Summit, it's hard to imagine us moving anywhere else again. Rooms are basic and a little dated but clean and comfortable, and given that if you're at Killington you're probably doing something outdoorsy and are only in your room to shower and sleep anyway, more than fine given the other amenities on the property, which are great. Multiple well-appointed lounge/library areas with fireplaces and comfy chairs, large indoor hot tub immediately next to a large outdoor almost-hot-tub-temperature heated pool (with convenient access to the bar! You can order drinks straight to the tub or pool! :D), two separate game rooms off the side of the bar and upstairs from it that have a pool table, darts, giant chess/connect four and other random time-passers, and a full bar and restaurant with great food and drink options. Ambiance and aesthetic is really exactly what you keep in your mind's eye when thinking of a ski lodge. Breakfast is a little on the lackluster side at the moment relative to what you may expect looking at the website/reading other reviews online, but I think is a function of the current COVID situation. Staff and service are also top-notch. As noted I was running a large trip, and the front desk staff made it super easy to arrange for our room block and handle some last-minute cancellations and room assignment swaps. They were also more than patient with me handling a billing issue post-trip where I incorrectly thought something was in error and then needed some outstanding room credits used to offset already-charged expenses. They're pretty shorthanded at the moment with people wearing multiple hats, but worked so hard while we were there to make sure the stay and experience were comfortable/positive and that everyone's needs were met in any given situation. Can't say enough good things about the whole crew.

Response from Emmett O'Dwyer, Owner at Summit Lodge & Resort

Matt, it was an absolute pleasure to host your group this year. We are so grateful we could provide you all with a new home away from home in Killington! I appreciate you taking the time to leave us such a splendid review. The current COVID climate has many businesses struggling on so many levels, we are just so blessed to have such a dedicated staff who make our guests' concerns their own. Everyone is also sorely missing certain amenities, such as the hot buffet breakfast, but we are hopeful that we will be able to offer more in the future. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any future questions or booking needs. We look forward to accommodating your group for years to come. Cheers!

We love this space. The staff is so wonderful, fun, kind, and helpful. The grounds are pristine and picturesque (bring mosquito bug spray) The pools are so relaxing and carefree. The summit inn is a perfect escape (we are a family visiting from brooklyn ny). Rustic with the amenities that we need. The rooms are cozy and rustic (with air conditioning and a TV) This is the best property in the Killington area for the summer. I highly recommend We will be back this summer.

A couple of friends were staying here, and when I came to visit them, I really liked the vibe and energy of this place. - It was exactly what I was looking for in a ski trip lodge. There's a very tastefully decorated common area which a large fireplace; and an attached pub with lots of unique features. Including a large hall for big gatherings. And the staff was warm and welcoming. I liked it so much, I decided to extend my stay at Killington. I booked a night at the lodge, checked out of my Inn at the base of the mountain, and checked in at Summit Lodge. My room was ready early, and I liked everything; particularly, the vintage locks on the bathrooms. I had dinner and a Guinness, and decided to use the hot tub to relax my legs from the days of skiing. And then came my negative: I walked down to the hot tub area, and found much of the hotel female staff hanging out. They are promptly left as soon as they saw me; and went into the ladies sauna. Then one of them came out and had her phone camera pointing in my direction. I suspected she was taking a photo of an overweight man, but tried to brush it off. I finally left and rinsed off in my room, and then came back to the common space in front of the fire to listen to my audio book. About 15min later, I heard another female staff member, come down the stairs saying "s#!t, s#!t, s#!t" as she was walking down the steps, while looking in my direction. Her coworker with the phone was following behind, when I saw the flash of her camera while pointed in my direction. I was so discusted and unwelcomed by this gesture, I went back up to my room and packed; checked out shortly after. And drove 8 hours home that night. I finally arrived home at 4am. I really saw potential here. I saw a place I could visit on my motorcycle in the summer. And a yearly ski destination with friends and family. It's unfortunate that the actions of a single poorly mannered individual, have overshadowed the good will and energy I initially felt here. I hope your experience will be different.

This is the third time we've been to summit lodge and it's still a great time. Live music, friendly people and service. It's great for families with kids. Lots to do even in the area in the winter, even if you don't ski. We really like the cozy feel, warm fires, outdoor heated pool, indoor hot tub, and overall friendly atmosphere - can't wait to return!

I have had the pleasure of photographing several weddings at Summit Lodge and Resort and the location, rooms, staff and food are all amazing. Friendly yet professional service, lovely setting with pools, gardens and game areas. O'Dwyer's Irish pub is perfect for a cozy drink after the celebrations and also a great spot to relax after a day on the slopes. Whether you are looking for a destination for your Vermont wedding or a great resort to relax in after skiing, hiking or touring Vermont, Summit Lodge is the perfect choice!

Summit lodge is absolutely charming!! It is a rustic lodge that makes you feel at home! The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. There is a pub, which makes it convenient to grab a drink or a quick bite. Although I didn’t get any food it looked good. They had a game room which was cool with cornhole, giant connect four, giant chess and checkers. Breakfast was by far the best breakfast I’ve had than any other place I’ve stayed! Just like a home cooked meal! The room was okay we had just a very basic room but that’s all we needed. The only thing I didn’t like was I Believe our room was above the kitchen so when they would cook breakfast( very early) I could hear everything below me and our room was extremely hot. We tried turning the thermostat down but didn’t seem to work and we couldn’t get the windows to open either. Other then that I loved the place and would definitely book with them again in the future!!
