Detailed Reviews
We had a pretty good experience here. We booked a 1 bedroom condo , and it was as described. It is an older property and many of the common amenities were not available. But that was already stated in the description.
Our condo was clean and had all the stuff one can expect. The appliances were old but functioning. We had a balcony with a nice view. Our aim was not for a luxury resort but a decent place to stay while visiting the area for fall foliage, and it was fine for that.
I gave a 4 because I felt that the place could be updated a bit. The carpet and bath fixtures showed their age, although everything was clean.

Thank you for submitting a review. Would you please let us know the building number and unit number that you stayed in? Units at Mountain Green are individually owned, rented out and managed by the unit owner or their agent. We'd like to pass your comments on to the unit owner so that cleaning improvements can be made in the unit you rented.

Our two night stay at Mountain Green was part of a bus trip from NYC. We didn't arrive until 1am on Friday night and the ONE PERSON (the security guard) at the front desk did a decent job of checking in 70+ people. We were in a one bedroom condo in Building 1 which wasn't too far of a walk from the lobby... The grounds are very difficult to get around if you do not have a car. We weren't told that we needed to get the extra linens for the pullout couch from the lobby... we discovered that AFTER we trekked to our room with all of our luggage. We did not have a DVD player so we couldn't rent a movie (not that we wanted to though). The firewood in the room was wet and we tried for almost an hour to get a fire started. I called the front desk to ask for more firewood and I was told to go to a firewood shed. But the woman on the front couldn't tell me where the closes one to my building was... the beginning of the unhelpfulness!
There is nowhere to eat breakfast in the morning because the Skybox Grille only opens at noon. Go to the Grand Hotel down the road (a five minute walk) because they have a breakfast buffet. We waited outside the Skybox Grille until noon and were the second group in the restaurant but it took 45 minutes for us to get our hamburgers and they were all cooked well done... NOT what I asked for. One plus is that Skybox serves Magic Hat #9... my favorite beer! And the bartender was extremely cool.
The folks in the sports shop are VERY helpful, however, Sarah at the front desk is downright rude and very unwilling to help.
The biggest plus is that the slopes are less than 5 minutes away and a shuttle runs every 15 minutes from the resort. It would be easy enough to avoid the gross food served at the resort and eat lunch back in your room.

We took a girls trip in September and rented a townhouse. We had the best time in this roomy house. We all had our own beds and 3 full bathrooms. There were TV's everywhere and even a ping pong table in the basement. We did not require housekeeping but whenever we needed something they responded quickly to our requests. We could not have asked for a better spot to laugh and have some fun. The fire pit was also a plus. We were not brave enough to try the heated pool but did enjoy the inside jacuzzi. A++ time for us for sure.

I travel 60+ nights a year, and normally write short, concise reviews, but this place warrants pages and pages...
IMy wife and I travelled with a group here for MLK weekend, renting several units, and we were shocked by an unusually prime location with such potential for greatness totally squandered by a group of bumbling, idiotic stoners running the place. The only reason I give one star is the location and size of room, and this is gracious, trust me.
Where to start? I must first explain that all units here are privately owned, and rented to vacationers....common at ski areas where one rents a kitchen/bedroom/living room type unit. As such, some units are well kept, but others are merely income generating investments that are still furnished with 1980's cheapo-mod furniture, broken and tattered, in very spartan rooms built on a very low budget. Granted, some people decorate, refurnish, and maintain the units when necessary....others let them descend into sub-"Super 8 fishing lodge" hell. Crooked Wal-Mart paintings on thin walls, $1-a-square-yard carpet, stained and torn linoleum floors (yes...linoleum), 20 year old plastic cups in the cupboards, flush hollow core doors and particle board furniture and ....you get the picture. Units varied WIDELY among our group, which rented 15 units - this makes our sampling of the property very broad, and comments shared over dinners and while skiing validate my opinion.
The rooms: spacious enough, and well laid out. Filthy - blame management company. Debris on floors, dishes washed but covered with film and unusable. Heat - grossly inadequate (baseboard heat controlled by 40 year old thermostats like at Grandma's house). We turned ours up all the way, and had to supplement the heat by turning on the stove burners (electric coils) each morning while dressing. It was cold, but Vermont is always cold. TVs were 13 inch, old fashioned, scarcely viable in an expensive locale. Our TV had a genuine antique VHS recorder, just in case we wanted to watch a movie. Our bed was made with the bottom, fitted sheet put on sideways....it didn't even come close to reaching the top of the mattress. No coffee machine (or any other countertop appliances) in the kitchen. Fridge was OK, bathroom was OK, plenty of closet space. All was dirty, though, and hardly inviting. Bed, pillows and sheets were clean.
Building: slow and inadequate elevators, floors covered with mud and sand each day (no one ever cleans public spaces here), children running in the hallways at all times (no staff to stop them), a huge store that never opens (and has zero inventory, with empty shelves, coolers, and cold cases), a ski accessory shop (adequate), a gift shop (adequate), no restaurant before 3pm (no coffee available in building), a good sized lounge (a high point), a vast spa, pool and exercise facility (pretty decent, but absolutely FILLED with kids in the pools, steam rooms, hot tubs, saunas), and almost No Employees. Seriously, every aspect is understaffed. One morning, I saw dozens of people revolting because no one could get a cup of coffee, and the front desk person said the only place to get a cup (the store) doesn't open if "the guy" doesn't feel like coming in! In their defense, the property does not operate the store, and said they didn't know why no one wanted to make the money that could be easily made there. Amazing that 500 people in the units had no access to coffee, on any of the 3 days we were there. And that this is normal.
High point: shuttle service to the ski area is frequent, courteous, and free. This is NOT slopeside, but pretty close (3 minute shuttle ride).
In summary, the only reason I can think of to stay here is if a group needs a "condo". If you don't, and a couple hotel rooms will be fine, DO NOT STAY HERE. If you need a condo, rent one elsewhere. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

We stayed at the Mountain Green condos in Feb 05. We asked for a corner room in the main building (building 3) and had no noise problems from the neighbours. The apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped.
The front desk staff were friendly enough and i loved the food from Jens Deli. Also found that the staff in Black Dog Sports were great. The only downside was that there were no highchairs for the kids in the condo rooms, and the rooms are not entirely baby proof. Also why does no place in Killington hire sledges for kids???? theres a business opportunity for someone!

We experienced some miscommunications between Mountain Green and ourselves. The hotel had a hold on our credit card which they would not acknowledge and that caused a great deal of grief for us when we were trying to make reservations at their hotel the day before we were supposed to go! It is a complicated story but nevertheless, the hotel management refused to accept any responsibility for the problem. They were very incooperative and it took us two days to get our money back! Furthermore when I confronted a manager at the front desk about the situation he yelled in my face, refusing to apologize, and he finished the conversation by telling me he did not care if I left right then and never came back again. Poor, poor, poor, management . I was very dissappointed since I have been going there for several years, but this time the dishes were also very dirty, the bathtubs had hair in them, and they pushed two individually sheeted twin size beds together to try and pass it off as a king size bed. I will never go back!

Having read with some trepidation, the 3 negative reviews on this site, and having already paid deposits, etc. we were VERY pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Mountain Green Resort. Having driven over 1200 miles in 2 days, we arrived at Killington at about 4:00 p.m., picked up our kid's ski hire at Black Dog Sports ( where we experienced speedy and prompt service) and checked into our condo. Our one bedroom unit was very clean and very comprehensively equipped (i.e.
appliances/dishes/furnishings). The convenience of only being 2 minutes away from Snowshed by the free bus service was a real bonus, which, added to the fact that the equipment lockers were virtually next to bus stop, meant that getting to the slopes was virtually painless. The health spa was excellent. Two hot tubs, one of the largest swimming pools in Killington, a steam room and sauna plus a cardiovascular and weight room (which we were too tired to use!), were a welcome sight after a full day of skiing. The only SMALL disappointment was the limited menu offered by the SkyBox Grille---what happened to Aangelo's?
We certainly intend to return to the Mountain Green Resort and would have no reservations about reccommending it to anyone who is planning a ski vacation in Killington.

We have a ski season rental in bldg # 3, Level C, from Dec, 2014 to April 30, 2015. This place is a total zoo. It doesn't even rate the one star I gave it. I had to give it a rating in order to write this. Kids run wild through the hallways yelling and screaming. It sounds like a stampede and the entire unit shakes. It allows dogs so you hear dogs barking. People come here to party and they leave their doors wide open so the constant noise travels into our unit. It sounds like they are in the middle of our living room. In the spa, there are yelling and crying kids, very, very noisy in the hot tub when you try to relax after skiing. Then at night quiet is supposed to be QUIET at 10pm to 10am, never happens. They rent to kids who party at night, yell, scream, jump up and down, blast music, etc, which can be heard all the way down the halls and nothing is done. This goes on to 2:30am. Plus these walls are so thin, you can hear your neigbors' conversations. Where is the security? They only have 1 security person for 3 buildings. What a joke. We rented here and paid $9,500 and signed a rental agreement. We thought it was great that the condo had rules and quiet from 10pm. That was why we took the unit. That is only on paper and not enforced. We have not had decent sleep since we have been here, especially on weekends. I have sent many emails and made many calls to the management company and condo association about this. All we get is lipservice. We can see nothing is done because it keeps reoccuring. Then we get an excuse that the condo shares common hallways and the noise is "excited noise" from people having a great time skiing and that this is Killington resort area. Yes, pass the blame. For this amount of money, we don't except this low life behavior. We will never stay here again. We regret ever coming here. Mt Green lived up to its reputation from the locals as the DUMP OF KILLINGTON for many reasons. If you want peace, quiet, abiltity to relax after skiing and a good night's sleep...DO NOT STAY HERE. THIS PLACE IS AN EXPENSIVE ZOO.

Response from MtGreenBOD, Owner at Mountain Green Resort
Responded Apr 15, 2015
We apologize for your bad experience with noise. We understand that long-term renters experience quite a contrast, from days and days of peace and quiet, where the resort feels empty and you have the pool to yourself, to bustling evenings of people checking in to a sold out resort, with the transition sometimes happening in just a few short hours on a Friday night. This can be understandably irritating, especially for a long-term tenant on the C level of building 3, near the entrance, lobby, elevators, and amenities. Furthermore, as a family resort, from time to time, excited children have been known to run up and down the halls after skiing, or to be boisterous in the pool. Our entire industry is dependent upon families passing on their love of winter sports to their kids. But it’s understandable irritating when you want peace and quiet. We hear the complaint, and the Condo Association has taken action. We have placed bright orange signs on every outside door and in the elevators, to remind guests of the 10pm quiet hours. We have sent notice to the various rental companies, to remind their guests to be considerate upon arrival, and to remind them of our by-laws which allow for fines or eviction for noise complaints. We recently issued a fine for a barking dog. We have also reviewed the security log to make sure that our 24 hr security has immediately responded to each noise complaint, which they have, with good results from guests who have been very understanding. Also note that each condo is different. Some are quieter than others. Some are adjacent to elevators, doors, and busy hallways. Some corner units, end units, units with multiple levels, lower building units, units on the top floor, some units are extremely private and quiet all the time. Renters who wish peace and quiet at Mountain Green can find it by choosing wisely. So we take the complaint seriously, and are working hard to improve the experience for everyone, by reigning in exuberance and noisy families, not just for late night arrivals, but also during other times, so that Mountain Green can continue to best serve our varied clientele. Thanks for your feedback.

Interesting stay. Arrival was greeted with a condo that sported such lovely features as a 4 inch by 4 inch hole in the wall from the last occupants. There were broken lampshades and a truly quaint aroma of Bacchanalia. The carpet smelled, the lighting was dark and the place looked very run down. The living room sofa was essentially collapsed so that you slid forward when you sat on it. The beds were a real delight, Although there was memory foam, they were so hard that only a drunk sot could find a good night sleep on it. The bedroom closet contained yet another mattress, which totally filled the closet. We were told that it needs to remain there, per the owner's wishes. That left a 2 bedroom condo with a closet by the front door. A delight for any family wishing to hang clothes a mere 40 strides away from one's bed. The bathrooms were clean but the cigarette burns on the toilets left a beautiful grove that only adorned my buttocks for such a short time. In short, the place was very worn and not well kept up. Clearly there were recent destructions but the lack of enthusiasm of the management to repair the damage was quite notable. This is a delightful condo for drunken, insensitive, individuals who feel a drain-pipe might be mistaken for a holiday Inn. But for any normal, relatively forgiving americans, paying $400./night for this sub-standard housing would be considered a theft. i find it hard to find any redeeming factors there, except the politeness and apologetic nature of the cleaning staff.

We're sorry you did not have a pleasant stay at one of the condos at Mt Green. Would you mind letting us know which unit you rented? We will address it with the owner of that condo. And if you publish the unit number, future readers will have that information too. Just a reminder... Mt Green is not a hotel. We are a condo complex. Every unit is individually owned and each unit is different. There are some fantastic, modern, high end units here. We hope your experience with this one owner's unit does not cloud your opinion of the others. In the future, you might want to seek out the specific condo they want by unit number.

The Capriccio Ristorante is located in the main building (3) of Mountain Green Resort. Regarding activities for children: There is an arcade/game room on site; children of any age are permitted in the indoor swimming pool (with swim diaper when applicable). In summertime, the outdoor children's pool is available, and there are also school playgrounds in the vicinity.
Thanks for the question!
Yes, there is space at the lodges to store stuff, almost everyone wears their gear on the bus. It's just a one minute ride.
Also, each condo has an outdoor ski locker so you can leave your skis, boards and whatever else outside. But since each unit is individually owned and rented, you would be wise to check with the person or company you rent from, to make sure the outdoor locker is included.
Thanks again, and think snow!
