My husband and I got married here in 1989. We own a cabin close by and have been to the BASEMENT BAR a few time (I avoid basement bars at all cost) I walked upstairs this past fall (Oct 2015) and couldn't believe how dark, dismal and empty the place was. Apparently they only have rooms now, and a breakfast... More

Thank you for the review. Not sure the date or the day of the week you came up to our dining room. The dining room is opened Thurs, Friday, and Saturday each week and also for special occasions which we do frequently. The Tavern, referenced as the bar in the basement, is not in a basement, opens out to three... More

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon for a week and absolutely fell in love with the charm of this inn and the very friendly people that work here. If you want New England charm, it is here. Staff and owner were very accommodating. If I were to have ANY complaint it would be I wish it were... More

Loved the Smuggler's Notch Inn (not to be confused with the Smuggler's Notch Resort)! We found it to be very atmospheric, cozy, clean and comfortable. Patrick, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and we thank him for the gift card towards the excellent breakfast we had in the morning! The only reason we didn't feel we could give this... We didn't stay at the Inn, but had dinner there. The place itself needs some upkeep. The dining room was ok, the bathrooms so tiny there is no room to move. But the food was really good. My husband had the flat iron steak, a little hard to cut, but it was really tender to eat, very tasty. I had... More

Disappointed with this stay. Twin bed room was very small -- more like a hostel room with ensuite bathroom. The room had very few amenities, and our room and the hallways were in need of further dusting. Very good food at the attached cafe "The Mix". Didn't try the food at the attached Village Pub, but the beer on tap... More

I had a room with twin beds. Nice room, flat screen tv and a full bath. Very clean and comfortable. It's an old inn, so expect crooked floors and lots of creaking noises everywhere! It can get noisy especially when guests are walking around the inn at 1:30am!! The staff was very pleasant and although the inn is old, it's... More

We stayed one night. This was a real plus because most places ask for a two night minimum. Not the Smuggler's Notch Inn. This is a very old building, rustic, with reasonable rates. Personally, I'd like to own it. It's got great potential. The restaurant was packed the following morning. They have all the business in town. We drove through... More

Please note that the format of our trip was a little different. My 11 yo son and I were thru hiking The Long Trail. Some of the places we stayed at and eat are not the places we would normally do. Please also note that most of the time we were tired and hungry. It changed our perception a little... More

We stayed here for one night in August, didn't have any reservation, just stopped almost at night and was so happy that there was a room for us! I first time spend a night in a place like this- old house with a charming grounds. Our room was very clean with a comfortable beds. Will be glad to be back... More

I read a page of the recent reviews and they all struck a chord with me. Charming, colonial, slanted floors, relaxed staff, clean, well-maintained, and a good night's sleep.I give the owners a lot of credit for just keeping this old building running (why I gave 4 stars rather than 3). What made our visit unusual was that we called... More
