First time at Hotel Jay and Jay Peak ski resort. The hotel and rooms are fine but could get an update especially considering the price. We did like the kitchenette and dining table in the room allowing us to get breakfast. Perhaps it was the fatigue of the end of the saison but they need to better train their staffs. Check-in is not until 5pm and don’t hope to get your room before as I was told. Check-out on the other end is at 10am! You must move your ski equipment out of the ski lockers by that time as I was also told! This was extremely inconvenient as we wanted to enjoy a last day of ski. If you have the waterpark package, you can only access it the day after your check-in and the day of checkout (Saturday and Sunday for us). Since they kicked you out of your room at 10am on Sunday and the waterpark does not open until 10am, this is far from convenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Jay Peak but for a ski resort, they could train their staffs to be more understanding of people having all their ski equipment and putting everything on a cart with the bellman is not a convenient option. Our stay would have been better without the countless trips to our car. With the waterpark package, they should offer an automatic late checkout like noon. Then allow your guest to use the ski lockers until 4:30pm for example since new guest can’t access them until they have their room number anyway. Just some common sense that would make the experience of staying at hotel Jay much better.

Not all that was advertised for the services expected. Room was a nice view but no balcony and near the elevator so noisy. We had a one bedroom but the staff does not check supplies to assure all glassware, silverware or other amenities are fully stocked. Shuttle service was good when you could get it but the desk was not helpful with how to get service. Not a place I would come back to visit. On site dining for a group was not as expected - no individual or couples checks for the large group were possible as we were told would be the format.

Stayed at the Hotel Jay for a three night stay for a Hockey Tournament. Pulled up to the resort and was greated by a Bellmen who helped get our bags and gear to our room. Check in was easy. Lots of rules especially for hockey groups.

The first disapointment was an additional fee (beyond what I was paying) to use the Water Park on our arrival day. This makes no sense at all. Why do I need to pay to use the Water Park when it's included in the Group Rate.

When I arrived in my room, there was plenty of space. We had a One Bedroom Unit so there was a full kitchen, murphy bed, pull out sofa bed and a seperate bedroom with a King Size Bed. There was a few rough marks on the walls and the room was very dark. Many of the lamps were not functional.

I do want to prepare you that during the offseason, there is very limited ammenties. The arcade follows the same hours as the Water Park. Which means, if the water park is closed, there is really nothing to do in the hotel. They ask the kids not to play Knee Hockey in their rooms but give no ammentieis to keep them busy. They have a "family room" but the sign says it closes at 8PM, door was locked at 7:30PM.

They have a firepit but that also follows the hours of the water park. So again, if the water park is closed, there really isn't anything to keep the kids occupied.

Lastly - The Pub which is the main restaurant was good, but a very limited menu (5 entrees).

It was a very expenisve weekend for what you get. And it still baffles me that they do not give you access to the water park for Night 1.

We paid $1000 a night for a special New Year's celebration for a mountain view suite.
We were surprised to find a view of the steel water park building. Staff insisted this was the only possible option for us.

We went to Jay this year for our 3rd year. We absolutely love it. Super family friendly, convenient and tons of fun. Never had an issue until this year. The heat in our room didn't work as of the first night we arrived. No problem, I called down the next morning, they sent someone to repair, it ran for a bit then stopped. Someone came back in the afternoon to look again got it running, after a few minutes stopped working. No problem. Called AGAIN. Now because we were in and our skiing and going to the waterpark it's around 7:30 pm on our second night. I was on hold with front desk FOREVER. The front desk associates were trying to get a manager. I suggested that they just send up the keys for the adjoining room (which no one was in) and let me move the kids there just in case it couldn't be fixed that night. We could just sleep in the room next door for the night and still have access to our things. Mind you the hotel was empty. It was mid week and no one was around. For some reason that couldn't be done. We had booked through an Amazon rate and I was reminded about 3 times that they couldn't find a room with the same "rare type" to put us in. Which is completely not true as I reminded them again the hotel was EMPTY and at this point why are we squabbling over the rate type? Just put us in the room next door. Now I'm really irritated and go down to the front desk. I am put on the phone there with the manager and again spend 30 minutes looking for a room with the same "rate". Apparently people with Amazon deals are second class citizens. Doesn't the hotel run these deals to increase occupancy? I digress.... He tells me I can move to the 4th floor ( I'm on the 2nd floor). I refuse. He "finds" a room on the 2nd floor for me to move to, not the adjoining one I requested. I agree. I go back upstairs, it's 8:45 now, I was supposed to meet friends for dinner an hour ago, the kids are asleep, I look around the room with all our stuff and realize there is no way I can pack everything and move that night. SO the great maintenance guys (they were great) provided us with space heaters. Not ideal because I'm always scared of those for fire reasons but better than moving and waking children. So that's my Jay story. I was so frustrated and disappointed by the service. We were there with about 5 other families and no one could believe how badly the incident was handled. I will definitely go back because overall it's great and the kids love it. But I really hope they get their management team problems worked out.

My wife and I stay at hotels regularly for work. We checked in for a family vacation and made two very straightforward requests. At the front desk, Jose Luis repeatedly and brusquely dismissed both of our requests. Our room does not meet our family's needs.

I recently (March 13-15, 2015) spent a ski weekend with my family this resort. We have been guests previously for hockey, and while we have enjoyed ourselves we have always wanted to return to ski. This past weekend my family finally got to enjoy Jay Peak in all its glory. We spent an enjoyable weekend skiing, using the spa, the waterpark and eating at all the restaurants. All of the accommodations and services were lovely as was the skiing. All in all a trip that left us quite satisfied and ready to return to your resort again for either hockey or skiing.

Unfortunately on the morning of our departure my husband suffered a rather serious medical emergency that required him to be transported to the hospital via ambulance in the wee hours of the morning. It was was at this time that I came to understand the true magic of the mountain. It was not the beautiful landscape or the crisp snow or the lovely accommodations..... it was the people. I can not express to the staff my gratitude for their kind actions and generous spirits. Ryan, Larry, Harmond and many more showed such generosity of spirit and kind words, that were followed by even kinder actions.

The Jay Hotel staff made a very difficult day a little bit more bearable. They arranged for the kids to be amused while friends packed them up to return home without their parents. The Jay Hotel staff arranged to have all of our belongings packed and put into the car. The security staff and valets helped to get both me and my car to and from the hospital. Larry and Ryan remained calm and comforting while the ambulance made it's way to the hotel. Harmond spoke calmly and kindly to me when I came to retrieve our things the next day from the hotel and helped me to navigate through Newport VT. Harmond was kind enough to direct me to where everything was in relationship to the Hospital so that my time could be spent with my husband and not searching for the things we needed.

My husband and I have finally returned home and his condition is looking brighter. I cannot say thank you enough to the staff for the kindness they showed. I will certainly recommend the resort for all of the great services and amenities but it is hard to quantify kindness, 5 stars doesn't quite seem to fit.

We, our adult kids and grandkids, 5 and 14, stayed here for 3 nights. Too cold to ski for some of us but so much else to do, including fabulous indoor water park. Rooms were great, staff very helpful, facilities well maintained. We all loved it.

Stayed 3 great nights at the hotel with a splash package. Water Zone is a great place to relax after a day on uncrowded slopes....Got Lucky with pre-christmas snow... Check was a breeze, be prepared to grab what you need since Valet is very efficient. King room was a bit cramped but comfortable for 2 adults. Easy access around with minimal outdoor exposure to places for drink or eat's. Great lockers to store and dry gear.

We stayed here this past weekend to visit the Pump House for a day with our kids. We were very pleased with our room, which was actually a 2 bedroom suite. Place was very nice, beds were comfy, bathrooms were nice.

One thing that surprised me was that the kitchen had a full range. When we booked the suite, we called and were told it would have a cooktop only. I wished I knew it had an oven. It would have made planning meals a little easier. We called the hotel itself too when we booked so I am surprised they couldnt tell us with accuracy what was in the kitchens.

Another problem, and this is the main reason I am writing the review, is that when we booked the person on the phone making the reservation told my husband that breakfast was included in the price of the room. That was great! But when we got the breakfast vouchers at check-in, they said "juice & pastries". Then in the morning when we got up and went down for breakfast (it is actually served at the Foundry restaurant/pub), it wasn't what we were expecting at all. This restaurant was serving their own buffet breakfast that cost money (which was perfectly fine!) but the "included" breakfast was set up like an afterthought behind the buffet. The waitress sort of pointed in the direction of the table where the "free" food was. So the kids and I went over and started getting some cereal and milk. But then the waitress came over again and informed me (nicely though!) that the cereal isnt included, and that the only things that were included were on the 24" square table, that was adjacent to the table with the cereal. And there was a small tray of mini blueberry muffins and a tray of cinnamon buns. That was it. Who doesnt include cereal in a free breakfast? I wasnt really expecting bacon and eggs, but I was thinking that they would have cereal, bagels, maybe toast/butter. And what I found crazy was that they put this lame excuse for a free breakfast in a restaurant thats serving a big buffet. At most hotels they have a little conference room reserved for the free included breakfast. Even the cheapest hotels that serve some continental breakfast have a better selection than the hotel Jay. We paid $400 to sleep for 1 night and use the waterpark, and they couldnt even include cereal?

That was my only beef. I usually dont complain about places and I didnt complain in person at the hotel. I was just not happy with how they said that "breakfast was included" when you make the reservation, but when you get there you have a tiny little table of stuff to choose from. And they dont even keep it separate from the pay items, since it was very easy to make a mistake and pick something from the table sitting right next to it.

I'd go back and stay again, but at least then I'll know not to count on the included breakfast.

I bought an Amazon basic cable that went from an IPAD to the 3 prong av hookups. (Red, yellow and white). Worked like a charm. Just switched the input on the TV and was able to stream video, Netflix, youtube...ect. Free WiFi There is an input panel built into the wall next to the TV so you don't have to get behind the tv mounted on the wall.
