Eloping at the Governor's House was without a question the best decision myself and my now husband could have made. We are so grateful for the exceptional experience and care that Suzanne provided for us in this beautiful immaculately kept home, and have very special memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Suzanne knows how to create a care-free elopement where absolutely every detail was taken care of for us and executed with grace. From the beautifully appointed room with the four poster canopy bed and the decanter of sherry awaiting us, to the gorgeous bouquet she made me, to an incredible dinner and wedding cake made by Suzanne, and so much more, the experience was perfect from start to finish. Not to mention, there was a spa tub with jets and boutique bath products that amplified an experience of luxurious self-indulgence. As vegans, she not only accommodated our food choices but succeeded in blowing us out of the water with her culinary skills. The dinner and breakfasts were phenomenal. It's also worth noting that the night before our intended arrival we had four feet of snow that delayed us by a day. Suzanne took this delay in stride and helped calm my nerves, arranging a series of backup plans so that no matter when our road was eventually plowed, we knew we'd be able to arrive and have the wedding experience we wanted. We arrived to her charming and beautifully kept mansion, received a warm welcome, and then after settling in we were married in front of the beautiful grand old fireplace by an officiant named Pixie who, though we had never met before, made sure to take a moment to get to know us and then led a beautiful ceremony that we will never forget. It's worth mentioning that Suzanne also had an amazing capacity to balance both the safety needs required during this pandemic to protect everyone's health, with creating a warm, welcoming, and relaxing environment. If you're looking for a getaway in these very weird times, this is the perfect place to go. Suzanne and the Governor's house are true gems. We are already looking forward to returning for our anniversary next year. Note: We wanted to upload more photos of our experience but Trip Advisor kept uploading them as upside down. The moral of the story is that you've got to go experience it for yourself ;)…
My wife and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Governors house. Tea and food was delicious. The house has been stunningly restored to its original glory. An all around wonderful experience. We can’t wait to go back!
The Governor's House is a wonderfully restored mansion where every detail from food to service to the residence itself is thoughtfully taken care of. We were there for a special anniversary trip and would have loved to have stayed longer.
Suzanne is a welcoming and helpful host. She made the arrangements for our balloon flight, and was very accommodating when our plans got changed The house is beautiful. We especially enjoyed the portico and the library
We enjoyed a lovely summer weekend in Vermont at the Governor’s House. The Inn served as home base while we rode our bikes on the completed sections of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. Our host, Suzanne, was lovely and shared the story of the house. Built in 1895 it evidently sat empty for almost 75 years till she restored it. Those empty years saved the beautiful wood work and floors from updates and preserved the character of the house. Our room was spacious with a private bath and a fireplace that could be enjoyed in the winter. We capped off the weekend with Champagne on the back porch. We’ll be back.
