We spent one wonderful night at Fat Sheep Farm last week and for sure want to visit again! What a beautiful spot - secluded and peaceful, yet close enough to restaurants and stores to enjoy your stay. The cabin was clean, well appointed and the sheets were so soft and comfortable. We stayed in the Sunset cabin, which is on the end and therefore a bit more secluded than the others, though all looked beautiful! The property is gorgeous and Suzy and Morgan (we didn't get to meet Todd) were welcoming and friendly. We participated in the morning farm chores, which were so fun - even in the pouring rain. We learned a lot and loved getting to interact with the animals and learn all their individual quirks. We sampled sheep's milk cheese made on premises, purchased from the small farm stand they have on property. All in all a great experience - would recommend it for families, couples and a solo retreat!…
My wife and I had a very relaxing stay at Fat Sheep. Although the place attracts many couples with younger children, the place is great for seniors like my wife and I to relax. The sunset cabin is on the end and the cabins are spread out enough for maximum privacy. We walked the sheep to pasture and watched the milking process. Escorted a goat out on a leash. The covered porch area is a great place to watch life pass by. The dog is very friendly not loud or jumpy. I got out of the car and the dog walked quietly with me back to my cabin. I pulled the car close to the cabin to load it up. When we pulled away 4 sheep were watching us leave with that look of you guys can’t leave.
I booked a cabin here for a night with my wife and twin 2-year old daughters. The twins love sheep and making sheep sounds so I thought they'd love it. It was a little overwhelming and they got scared but still enjoyed the property, which has a wonderful little play area. The cabin was nice and cozy and the property is just stunning.
I took a solo trip a few weeks ago with just my dog. When we came home she was noticeable depressed for a few days. She missed the farm! We had the time of our lives!! Fat Sheep Farms is so family and dog friendly. Plenty of activities on the farm and the surrounding area. You cannot get a better location to visit Vermont!! Activities and sight to see north, south, east and west! I tried to book another few days to take my mom and everything was booked! There is a reason this place has nothing be great reviews! If you see an opening, BOOK IT!
We were back again at Fat Sheep Farm and yet again, we had a truly wonderful time. This time friends of ours joined us and we rented three of the five cabins. As always Todd and Suzy were an ocean of notions, helpful and gracious hosts. Kids had a blast, dogs loved the grass and we rested in the warmth of the VT. We dined at Brownsville butcher and pantry, skunk Hollow Tavern in the dining room and in Woodstock. We Love the farm fresh eggs and the scones. The kids love the farm chores. We did a great hike at Mount Tom in Woodstock. We will be back again.
We stayed here for 2 nights w/our 7 and 9 year old. The kids loved the farm chores w/Farmer Suzy at 8a feeding sheep and goats hay, collecting eggs. We timed our visit to coincide w/lamb births in the spring so SO many adorable babies. The animals are all so gentle and social. The grounds are gorgeous. We loved the Forest Walk, new natural playground that the owners built. The location is great bc close to restaurants and other things to do in White River Junction, Hanover, Norwich, etc. The cabins are meticulous and all the directions, protocols super organized for self-service (but owners also immediately responsive to any issues bc onsite).
What a truly beautiful, relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable getaway. My sister and I stayed in Sunset cabin. What beautiful views....sunset, sunrise and everything in between. The cabin was set up perfectly with a very welcoming basket of fresh eggs and delicious homemade scones. Our hosts, Suzy and Todd were so accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. They supply your room with a binder of restaurants, points of interests, hiking trails and all sorts of useful information. Had fun paticipating in the "sheep herding". It was so much fun. I just can't say it enough......staying here was the best thing I have done in years. Also, rest assured, they are very COVID conscious ...they had air purifiers in the cabins. I hope to be able to enjoy the farm again......soon!!!!!! Thank you so much. A very wonderful trip.…
Staying at Fat Sheep Farm & Cabins was amazing from start to finish. The cabins (which were spotlessly clean) have a warm and sophisticated feel with amazing views of the farm. It's a vacation getaway that feels peaceful and relaxing from the moment you arrive, with fresh eggs and a delicious homemade baked good waiting for you. The owners, Todd and Suzy, are extremely welcoming, and you feel like you're a part of their farm family while at the same time they offer a very quiet, private, space to enjoy the natural beauty of their location. We learned about the hard work that goes into caring for a farm, and were able to experience a piece of that by taking part in their morning chores. We loved seeing the different personalities of the sheep and goats who live there. We also enjoyed a beautiful walk through the woods surrounding their fields and then some delicious sheep's milk cheese that they make on the farm. Suzy and Todd also went above and beyond to share information about the surrounding area to ensure a complete authentic Vermont experience. We will definitely return to the farm in the future and can't wait to bring other family members and friends with us!…
Going to Fat Sheep Farm was like experiencing a glimpse of my dream life as a shepard living on a sprawling, gorgeous VT farm with truly amazing views. Todd and Suzy and their kids are completely lovely and it was so fun hanging out with them as we “helped” (pet their cute sheep) on the farm. Finding eggs in the chicken coop was a highlight for me, even more so than for my kids. Accommodations were great - comfortable bed and so nice to have scones and coffee and eggs already there for us. They have a playground on the property which was perfect for our 2 kids. Lots of things to do close by and some great local restaurants. I’m devastated that we forgot to buy some of their cheese! Clearly have to come back. Already booked for next year!
The cabins are wonderful. The farm is beautiful. The hosts are helpful. What more can you ask for. My only issue is with the mattress. My back found it to be too soft. But that is just me. Fresh eggs and pastry on arrival are a delicious plus.
