I visited the Highland Lodge as part of a group. I could not get over the quality of service, from the front desk to the bartenders to the food servers. Once you ventured out of the main lodge and made your way down to the beach, it was clear that the proprietors had considered the beachside whims of just about every kind of guest.

There are many nice things about this place -- its peaceful setting near Caspian Lake and the many things the Lodge makes available there, like kayaks, canoes, and sailboat. The property itself is showing its age and I think it will have problems as global warming increases because it has no air conditioning. We were there when it was in 80s and it wasn't so pleasant at night (I didn't realize until too late that there was a fan in the closet. The rooms are not at all soundproof, which can be a bit unpleasant if you have a loud neighbor. The people there are nice but not terribly efficient.

Very clean, nice room. Quiet. great view on a lake with private beach. Kayaks available to use. Family friendly, cabins available for longer stays. Staff very friendly. Really good meal and good drinks, I had a margarita that was better than at the Mexican restaurant we go to! No tv in rooms or air conditioning but very comfortable.

Highland Lodge is a fantastic place to stay! They hosted a group of about 20 of us for the weekend and we had the whole place to ourselves. Elsa and Chad are gracious hosts (even obliging my request for a plant clipping, thank you!). The food is plentiful and delicious. The lounging spaces in the lodge are comfortable as are the bedrooms (although I really just slept in there). The beds are comfy and the view from the room was pretty spectacular. We explored the trails a bit but otherwise just hung in the lodge all weekend eating and socializing. This was the perfect location for our retreat! We’ll be back again next year.

What a TERRIFIC experience! First, they have the BEST inn keepers (Chad and Elsa) that were so kind, friendly, welcoming, and accommodating! They were FULL of knowledge of the area and fun to hang around with! Secondly, the cross country trail right at the inn was incredible, it was groomed daily. We are beginner cross country skiers and it was super fun and people were super friendly! What a gorgeous area and honestly most of the time there was no one around! Thirdly, the breakfast and dinner and drinks were DELICIOUS! They made there own yogurt and granola with a hot selection everyday! I loved that they had local beer and food. A hot tub would have only added to the incredibly experience! Thank you Chad and Elsa for the incredibly stay!

Room Tip: Would be really fun with a group of people staying in the cabins. The rooms were great also though!

We had a great time staying at the highland lodge! I visited with myself and my two kids for a lovely weekend to visit family who lives in the area. Can't say enough about the yummy breakfast and we also enjoyed the foodtrucks and an amazing dinner. The chef made my picky four year old a grilled cheese even though it wasn't on the menu. The staff was always friendly and very accommodating. There are so many little features that I loved - having the beach towels in the room when we checked in, a small kitchen and sitting area in our cabin, an old clawfoot tub. My kids did NOT like not having internet in the cabin, but I really enjoyed playing games at night and just spending time as a family. It was old school fun and it was delightful. We will be back next year!

Highland lodge is a real gem in Greensboro, VT. I stayed in Appolt cabin for a week. The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything I could need. The cleaning staff stopped by daily to make the beds and take out trash and compost (and I love that they compost!!). Elsa and Chad (they run the lodge) are super friendly, helpful and provide excellent service! Breakfast in the morning had a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and granola, and many other items to fuel you up for a day of hiking or exploring VT. The restaurant and bar are top notch as well!! Loved the cocktails and local craft beer selection. They also had a local taco food truck there one night... and that was delicious! There is a beach with chairs to sit in and boats to use on the lake. Beautiful view and super relaxing. There is a hiking trail you can access right from the lodge. Not too long and incredible views await you at the top. Don't hesitate... book your vacation at Highland Lodge now!! I can't wait to go back!!

We discovered this amazing gem last summer during our COVID stay-cation tour of VT. Myself, Husband, 2 children and 2 dogs have been treated like family since day one (we have stayed in the lodge/main house and the cabins during 5 separate trips over the course of this past year and are currently booking an end of summer trip). Chad and Elsa are amazing human beings and their customer service and hospitality are top notch. Our entire family adores the staff at Highland. Last summer we spent my husband's birthday at Highland Lodge and Elsa made us some wonderful cupcakes to enjoy by the lake due to limited COVID options around town...such a sweet gesture and delicious treat! During the tougher COVID times we felt safe while still having a very relaxing stay (during both summer and winter seasons) and were ecstatic to return this summer and see all of the faces behind the masks (finally)! During our past visit my children had an unfortunate incident with an unruly neighbor and Chad immediately spoke with the neighbor to bring peace to the situation while Elsa comforted our children with her kind words and special lemonade! This situation was resolved rather instantly and we as a family felt extremely taken care of by both Chad and Elsa and were beyond surprised to get a follow up email a week later from one of the Owners of the Lodge extending his apologies and kind words as well...Chad and Elsa went above and beyond to be sure that our family felt taken care of and again, this situation was with a neighbor not Highland staff or guests! The lodge has wonderful food and drinks, great food truck nights, music nights, corn hole, volleyball, badminton, horseshoes and swings! The complimentary breakfast is perfect with homemade yogurt and granola, fresh baked goods, cereal, juices, tea and coffee...the homemade pop tarts are amazing! Then there is Caspian lake where you have your own private beach with paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats (sunfish), life vests, floating docks and amazing swimming...there is no way to have a bad time here. During the winter months there are cozy fires and amazing cross country skiing! This is the true VT experience and a great way to connect with family and friends and become a part of something wonderful. We are so happy that Highland Lodge has captured the hearts of our family!

I wish I could keep Highland Lodge all to myself and never have to share it with anyone. I tell EVERYONE about this spot and don't stop raving about it. Ever since my first visit, I get excited for the next one. The beautiful backdrop comes in second to that of the great service from Elsa and Chad. The incredible sense of fulfillment you have when you leave is complimented by that of a full belly from the great menu and food options during your stay. Go check it out and tell your friends!!
