We came for a family wedding. Otherwise the eight hour drive from New York would not have been worth the trouble. I thought that a venue that features Culinary would have at least something of quality in regard to the food. After the long drive everything was a disappointment. There was no cocktail hour. There were some finger snacks if... More

We received a gift certificate ($500) to take our dog on a pet friendly weekend using a review from Yankee magazine. The rates for the two nights averaged $400. To begin our door would not open, requiring 3 trips to the main desk to switch keys. As it turned out the door was not set properly. The furniture was very... More

We took a cooking class one night when were in the area visiting friends. We all (4) had a blast & prepared & ate some outstanding food - from french onion soup to creme brûlée. There were 8 people in the class. The instructor was knowledgable & patient & fun, he clearly understood that we were all at different skill... More

To celebrate my 60th birthday my family gave me a trip to The Essex. They know I love to cook and thought I would appreciate the opportunity to take a class while my husband and I stayed there. First - the room. It was fine, nothing exceptional, and certainly not what I expected to find based on the pictures on... More

Our room (suite, I guess) was spacious and nicely appointed. We had a wood burning stove, (Gas, I think. It was August, so we didn't turn it on.) a sitting area with a couch, chair and tv. and a king bed with very nice linens. The bathroom had a deep jacuzzi tub and a double shower. The pastries and food... More

This was our first ever trip to Vermont and this is truly a wonderful resort. It's peaceful, tranquil, and yet still offers two restaurants, the Tavern and the Junction. We had delicious lunches in the Tavern and I liked the atmosphere. I had a spa treatment (and those are always nice). They have a truly terrific spa with all the... More

It is terrific to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us Kathyyoko1624! Being able to share our love of cooking with our guests is truly something that makes us proud. Bistro Favorites is a very popular class, and you are correct, we do keep the class sizes small to ensure each of our guests has a personal interaction. As... More

The Essex Inn was a great getaway. The property is so quaint, food is awesome (especially for foodies) and amenities wonderful. The SPA and outdoor pool were great. Fun to have the late night bon fires as well. The surrounding area area and local farms were so much fun to visit.

The Essex Inn is a very beautiful property located about 20 minutes from Downtown Burlington. We arrived early but the receptionist was happy to give us our room within 20 minutes of arrival. Our room was at the end of a corridor on the main floor of the main building. The room was huge with large bright windows and a... More

We chose the Escape to the Essex package with an additional day. We wanted to visit Vermont because we are foodies. This resort was just ok. Customer service could have been a bit better. Let's start with the room: The room was big, spacious, and clean. It definitely had a cozy feel. The bed was too firm for my liking... More

My husband and I spent 3 days at this location. Our room was lovely and housekeeping did a great job. The only complaint I have is that we booked where the offer provided a room with 1 or 2 beds. Of course we got one bed and one double bed. We are not big people but the lat time I... More
