My parents and I shared a 2-bedroom suite in the Manor House over the Thanksgiving holiday. The room was very spacious and had a full kitchen (which we didn't really use, but having the fridge and microwave was nice!). Beds were very comfortable, and the fireplace was a nice touch. It was on a 1-hour timer which required getting up... More

Thanksgiving dinner was expensive and very mediocre. There was nothing that could be called better than average. Service was good but lack of sufficient busing help left the dining room messy. Food was not even warm and the shrimp was peel them yourself.

Specifically reserved rooms with fireplaces in order to sit in front of the fireplace. Rooms did have fireplaces but no in-room seating provided. Web photos show couches in rooms with fireplaces. Not so in reality. Took 3 separate requests and a trip to the front desk to procure an additional blanket. Unintentionally left a coat in the room closet at... More

Though the rooms were a bit dated, they were clean and spacious. Check-in was fine but throughout the stay it seemed the front desk was not as informed as they could have been about activities and amenities on the property. Tended to feel like a "do it yourself" situation. The spa was nicely appointed and the massage was wonderful and... More

Stayed in a suite over veterans day weekend, room was clean, bathroom was nice had a great jetted tube and fireplace, however I slept very poorly due to the fact the only room darkening type shade were very cheep blinds that could not even keep out the street lights. It made for a very early morning as I woke up... More

What a fantastic weekend we had at the Essex culinary resort and spa. Everything was perfect and whatever we asked for we received with a smile. The cooking class we took with chef Steve was amazing and fun. Can't wait to come back and both my husband and myself wish we had another day here. We recommend this resort very... More

My husband and I went to the Essex to celebrate his birthday and now we pledge to make this an annual event. The resort was beautiful and the amenities great. Having two great restaurants on site was the finishing touch.

When we first arrived the front desk staff was very friendly and told me all the great places to go in the area. We got the studio room and it was the perfect size for a weekend stay. The first night we went in the pool and jacuzzi which was nice and peaceful. The second night we are at the... More
