This is the worst pedicure ever. I could have certainly done a better pedi at home myself and saved the money. Technician never offered to file any part of my foot, which is 90% of the reason why I go for a pedi. The front desk staff were not friendly at all and never asked if we were local people, providing us with a discount for Vermonters. No welcome when you entered and totally emotionless when checking out. I don't plan to return and hope others realize this is not the place to go.

Hotel's Favorite
The Essex is always a wonderful and peaceful vacation destination. This is something for everyone. The rooms are spacious and the hospitality is always top notch. The spa brings nothing but relaxation and peace of mind. They have done well with the current limitations to make this still one of the best experiences one can have on a vacation getaway.

I live locally and have been coming to The Essex for the past several years at least once a year. This past experience has sealed the deal that I will never set foot in this establishment again. The communication between front desk staff and their spa staff is poor. To the point that I was treated very rudely by a spa staff person for being in the hot tub a few minutes before they close after just being told ten minutes prior by the front desk that it was open and okay to enjoy the hot tub. There are hidden spa fees in cost of their hotel rooms. The food is overpriced. I lost something very important there and was able to prove that it was left at the spa/pool area between certain hours of the evening. The manager and front desk manager were condescending and generally insensitive in their handling of this situation. This item has still not been found by the hotel and my confidence in their efforts to resolve this and return these items is next to zero.

We were so grateful for this mini-break during this devastating year. We were in NYC all through the nightmare of last year, and while it's improving, The Essex was the perfect retreat away from the big city. I requested a nice room beforehand, and the staff there (Benjamin) responded to my request promptly. We loved our large room overlooking the front of the property and mountains in the distance. The resort fee includes a lot of perks like free coffee, hot cocoa, and S'mores kits, which our daughter loved. We ate at both the Tavern and the Junction. Service and food were exemplary. I strongly recommend splurging for the Junction - it is worth the experience. The hotel is also near lots of conveniences like the Hannaford Grocery store or other fast food options if you want those. Last but not least, the lap pool was exactly what we wanted and needed. It's hard to find a pool these days which is large enough or doesn't have timed entry. We spent more than 2 hours each day swimming laps or relaxing in the hot tub, and it was just amazing.Everything was really perfect. If I had to provide some constructive feedback, it would be to update the bathroom in our room. But it was clean and functional. Without a doubt, we will be back.

I can’t put into words how great our experience was at The Essex. From the moment you pull into the parking lot and see the resort, you get this warm and cozy feeling. The staff was so lovely, the rooms were greatly decorated, and the restaurants in the resort were absolutely amazing, especially Junction (restaurant ceiling pictured below)! We will most definitely be back.
