I went for a facial. It was a relaxing experience but there was very little extractions. They used lots of creams and scrubs, but my face/pores were not deep cleaned. I paid $200 for the 80 minutes, so was hoping it would be worth it!

Five star dinner at the Junction Restaurant. Excellent culinary experience with Chef Denise at the Creative Kitchen.. The Essex is definitely five star in all categories The grounds are beautiful the staff always friendly and professional.

Lovely hotel - big clean rooms . Room service excellent without needing to request it. Delicious cakes and coffee available from little coffee shop in reception. Good swimming pool which was very quiet when I used it . Have visited in the Summer when it was possible to make more use of grounds and garden but the grounds are still beautiful at this time of year , if a little snowy!

Beautiful location, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Tavern restaurant was great for casual meals. Not only are we Canadians welcome at the resort but there was a 20% discount on the room AND the Spa treatments. 👍🏼Spent 4 days with a girlfriend enjoying the Spa facilities. Fabulous services, definitely will return.

We recently had a great three-night stay at the Essex. We were out and about a lot and in hindsight, I kind of wish we had spent more time at the hotel. The rooms (we had a king and a two queen) were pretty big and very clean. The beds were super comfortable and the towels were very nice. We drove to Sugarbush to ski one day, and it was an easy drive, even in the dark on the way back to the hotel. We went to Burlington and Stowe too - also easy drives. We had three great meals at the Essex - two at the Tavern and one at the Junction. The service, food and drinks were all terrific. The dining at the Junction was on par with or even better than top rated dinners we've had in Manhattan - amazing food and wine. Overall the whole experience was super relaxing and I would love to return.…

The massages at the spa were amazing but the rest of the resort experience was average at best. The rooms are out dated and damaged, the restaurants were slow and the food was cold, the staff is not very friendly and unhelpful. The windows in our room didn’t close fully or lock, the wind noise and the drafts made sleeping nearly impossible as temps were in the teens with wind chills well below zero. Every time we wanted to get room service or do take out, they made excuses as to why they can’t or took forever for simple orders. A “culinary” resort it was not, the pastries were stale and fresh coffee or hot water was elusive, even at 7:30 in the morning. I’m truly disappointed as I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect place to stay over the holiday. This just wasn’t a good resort experience.…

We had reserved a Culinary Queen room (which had been recently renovated) and upon check-in there was no mention of room type. We opened the door to our room and were greeted by a very dated jacuzzi suite, with drop ceilings in the bathroom, early 1990s fixtures, a tired bedroom set, and carpet squares attached to the floor with some sort of adhesive. I'm sure they thought they'd done us a solid by "upgrading us" to a larger room, but thanks, but no thanks! We'd been hopeful that the "spa" would be a luxe and relaxing experience, but it was not. The hot tub and saunas were tiny and crowded. While it was nice to have a bar and restaurants on premises, I don't think we'll be returning. On a positive note: we enjoyed meeting the resort's goats!

Several of my family members and I enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving dinner there. There were 10 of us, including 4 young children. We were able to make an early reservation and they seated our party in a separate room. The grounds were scenic and the decor was rustic but nice. The staff was friendly and the food was good. All in all, we had a good experience

The ChefStable at the junction was incredible. It was fun watching the chef cook. The food was amazing. The Cook Academy class was very fun and informative chef. Marc was excellent. The spa was so relaxing will definitely be coming back here again.

This "culinary resort" has definitely seen better days. The entire resort is physically tired with rotting trim, threadbare stained carpet, beyond dirty, paper thin walls to hear your neighbors conversations. The breakfast kiosk offers stale baked items with espresso from an automatic machine that the attendant did not know how to work. We waited nearly an hour, as did the tables around us, after ordering breakfast and all plates came with the wrong items. The smores given are nice but can are made on a gas fireplace next to the parking lot. With some serious new investment in the physical buildings and better staffing this resort has potential but I'd wait for that to happen before visiting.
