We stayed in the Eden Mountain Lodge for a weekend, in conjunction with a dogsled ride at Eden Dogsledding (see separate tripadvisor listing for that). It was an amazing, magical weekend! There are 3 cabins, all very different, all fairly close together, and all very near the barn for the Eden Ethical Dogsledding rides. That said, we were not near anything else except beautiful woods, pasture and lovely, lovely mountain views! We stayed in the Larkspur cabin, the log cabin. SOOOO lovely! and comfortable! We were there on a VERY cold weekend (-20F when we woke up). I was worried about it being cold, but we were actually just fine! there was a lovely gas fireplace which provided a lot of warmth as well as the heater in the wall. No heat upstairs, but a lot of grates in the floor let heat form downstairs up. No problem at all! The cabin could have easily slept 5 people, and you could have squeezed in another if you were all very friendly. Only one bathroom and that WAS cold. Foosball table, full kitchen, cozy living room. Very minimal wifi - check your email then turn off your connection so others can use it ;-) But that turned out to be lovely! we turned off our phones for the weekend (except for taking lots of photos!) and just enjoyed being there, in the woods in the mountains. Lots of pristine forest for snowshoeing, WONDERFUL dogsled ride (book separately), and cozy time in the cabin. There is no restaurant for some distance. I planned ahead and brought food for all our weekend meals. It was romantic, fun and beautiful. A perfect weekend!…
Our family had such a great visit and sled trip. It was far more than a joy ride. We got to know all the dogs and their personalities. You really get to know the dogs by hanging out with them. Deborah and Ethan taught us so much about the dogs and ethical dog sledding. Great people! The sled trails are beautiful and well maintained. Planning on going back for a weekend and bringing our friends.
The cabins are cozy and well taken care of. Beautiful land, wonderful owner, fun dog sledding experience. We were a large group and the cabins fit everyone. Close to Stowe and many wineries/breweries if you are off the mountain. Can't wait to go back!
We spent the weekend in the Foxglove Cabin went dog sledding and snow shoeing. We are a family of 6 with kids ranging from 20-6. It was perfect with now cell phones!! Everyone is friendly and knowledgable. The cabins are clean and cozy. The dogs are so gentle and well cared for by the owners. We can't wait to go back!
Greatest getaway for me and my city boys (oops, dogs)! We have been going at least a few days every winter for years and have never been disappointed. The trails are FANTASTIC, Jim and his dogs are role models for all animal lovers - best place to relax, get some exercise, forget stress and work frenzy. Can't wait for our next stay :)
