The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a truly unique and special place on the top of an open ridge line with spectacular views from the meticulously kept farm. And dozens of smooth single track rides are at your fingertips. Additionally our 2-year-old LOVED to visit with the goats, miniature horses, large horses, cows and farm cats as well as play in the game room/common living room. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!!! Amazing find. We’ll be back!

Can't say enough positive about this inn. We were hesitant about traveling in the COVID era. The staff at the inn were professional and always wore their masks, kept their distance and minimized contact. The rooms and inn were clean. The staff anticipated our needs. They had the fire pit ready to go, smores set ups for 2 people. They arranged to have us eat in another room to maintain space from a larger party of guests. If you forgot your mask they had them at the front desk. The breakfast was delicious and filling from the perfectly selected fruit to the eggs and toast. The property is a retired farm perched on top of Darling Hill with views East towards Burke Mtn and West towards the rolling hills and Green Mountains with stunning sunsets. It is a huge property with well maintained farm buildings, veggie gardens, flower gardens, horses, goats and a bull. There are bike and ski trails just out the door and plenty of space to spread out and appreciate the beauty of VT. We mountain biked 1 day right out of the inn and hiked Mt. Pisgah the next. Well worth a visit and a stay.

Thanks for this thoughtful and detailed review! We’re especially pleased that you enjoyed visiting with the rescued animals in the sanctuary. They actually seem to enjoy the human interaction as well. Hope you return to the farm; it’s different but great in all seasons. Be well.

This historic estate of famous NY hotel owner and horse breeder has been lovingly transformed into a fantastic B&B. The owners are justifiably proud of the work they have done and their love for the property (and their guests) can be seen everywhere you look. The sprawling grounds are meticulously maintained and offer spectacular views of the surrounding hills. The rooms are large, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is generous but just to be sure you end the night in a good mood, the inn offers ingredients for s'mores on a table beside the reception desk and a fire burning in the fire pit just outside the door. Irresistible. What more can you say?

I stayed here with my wife during the 2020 labor day long weekend. We came primarily for mountain biking and the location was perfect for that! They have secure storage for bikes if you need.

The breakfast is delicious! They left "smores for two" packages in the evening and plenty of firewood next to the fire pit outside. It was nice hanging out roasting smores in the evening, getting to know the other guests.

We recently stayed at the Inn at Mountain View Farm. This was our first holiday venture following a year of Covid isolation and it couldn't have been a better experience. From the beautifully appointed, amenity laden room to the gorgeous views from the attached porch of the valley and mountains, we couldn't have asked for more relaxing surroundings. Strolling the gorgeous grounds was one amazing experience after another. The gardens are beautiful and lush, the historic barns perfectly maintained with the horses, ponies and goats completing the bucolic experience. A fresh and delicious breakfast was served by an incredibly warm and gracious chef in a dining room that hearkens back to times of detailed beauty and slow living. The Inn is very close to town and to hiking/biking trails. My husband and I couldn't have been happier with our experience and are looking forward to returning very soon.

We stayed at the Inn at Mountain View Farm as a mid point stop from our Canadian Journey of Montreal and Quebec. The Inn at Mountain View Farm was that perfect place!

We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Marilyn, the owner (with her Husband John).

Marilyn’s creativity over the years, with an eye of perfection but retaining New England’s warmth and simplicity and beauty are all evident in the most wonderful ways. You could walk from room to room and feel the history and the stories that each room told with its furnishings and origins.

Even Marilyn’s Mom’s P.P Stewart Cast Iron Stove (wood burning cooking stove) sits prominently in the morning Dining area as a Relic to New England

The New England farm landscape, homes with manicured lawns, freshly painted barns and buildings on the grounds all dating back to the original owner (Elmer Darling) as this property has tremendous history, which is worth reading.

We settled in after a long rid and were provided with some local restaurants, and headed out to a local place, but looked forward to the morning where we knew we would see a ‘country breakfast’’ which was really amazing.

The Morning Chef, a very charming woman, has been working the kitchen for some time, and is so creative, with French Toast, Fruits, croissants, well, I could go on and the coffee too, all perfect.

The rooms (all of them) as we made our way thru the 2nd floor of the Creamery building as it was in it’s Dairy days, has been transformed into the most charming and New England living areas, all with their own personalities and comfortable living for the stay. Each with private baths, and unique bed, furniture and carpets, making each one different and welcoming.

We visited the animals, and visited the barn with the animals and found them all well cared for and loved in their home sanctuary and retirement home!

I could paint a picture of this beautiful place facing Burke Mountain. We only stayed 2 nights, as we were heading back, but truthfully could have spent much longer here at this New England Haven in the Mountains of “The Kingdom’’ as it is called.

The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is a unique place, with many offerings, and we did take the time to visit Burke Mountain, Lake Willoughby ( Vermont’s Deepest lake) and Dined one evening at the Inn on the Hill overlooking the Inn at Mountain View farm, where the Owner (Elmer Darling) built his retirement home, now called the Inn at Burklyn.

We will return, without a doubt to enjoy the New England Fall in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

If you book here make sure you have a backup plan. I had to travel to VT to attend the funeral of a family member. As frequent visitors to VT and the Kingdom Trails we decided to make the most of the trip and stay at the Inn. I called to book a room and make sure we could get a later checkout time to prepare for the funeral. We were told the inn had a few rooms left and to go ahead and book online. I immediately went online and booked. I was sent a confirmation email as well as a second email letting me know a noon check out would work. The morning of our arrival I was sent another confirmation welcoming us to the hotel. Then 4 hours later I recieved a call as we were heading to VT letting me know they were canceling our reservation because they had double booked our room. They had no other rooms available. They offered nothing for our inconvenience other than to suggest we call the Burke Mountain Hotel to see if they had rooms. They also said it was an accident and nobody’s fault, although it would seem that if you doublebook you are at fault. Fortunately the Burke Mountain hotel was able to accommodate us albeit at a more expensive rate. Having stayed at the Burke Mountain Hotel before I know their customer service is far superior to what we received from the Inn and I would recommend anyone chosing between the two pick the hotel. It may cost a bit more but at least you will actually get a room and helpful staff.

Janet, we’re sorry about the mistake that was made with your reservation. The service and system we use has been reliable generally, but this was not the case with you, and we regret that. We are taking a deep look at how to avoid it happening again. As mentioned, such incidents have been rare, but once is more than enough. In addition, our policy has been to proactively help guests get an alternative accommodation when necessary, and we also regret that we could have been of more direct assistance to you in that regard. About our staff, though, exactly 90 percent of our 133 reviews on Trip Advisor give us 5 stars, their highest rating. All of those reviews praise our staff. We hope you’ll give us another try, because we’d like you to truly enjoy the service our guests experience here. All the best, John

Beautiful, authentic beauty abounds on this 500 acre estate the sits high above the mountains and gorgeous Lake Willoughby. Breakfast of blueberry pancakes with fresh maple syrup was alone worth the trip. Comfortable accommodations and very friendly staff. Will return!

My oldest daughter and I stayed at the inn for four days in August. The accommodations were immaculate and the settings are absolutely spectacular. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and the women in the morning who prepared breakfast were absolute sweethearts. The animals all appear well cared for and my daughter and I had a fantastic time there. We look forward to our return next year.
