Outdoor activities for all levels and ages in a spectacular setting. The inn offers very tasty meals and a comfortable seating area with a fantastic view to relax. A great place to get away with friends or family. Our group has enjoyed an annual trip to Mountian Top for 15 years, staying in various houses and have never be disappointed.
My favorite winter resort. Our entire stay was delightful. I was with a group of friends in a guest house that was clean and comfortable. The kitchen allowed us space to make a meal together and enjoy each other’s company. We went to the lodge for breakfast in the morning, and friendly and helpful staff greeted us. The day was filled with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on an extensive, well-groomed trail system. On another night, we had a delicious meal at the lodge, and once again, the staff was helpful, friendly, and informative. I highly recommend the Mountain Top Inn & Resort. I have stayed at the resort on four other occasions, and whether I was there with one other person staying in the lodge or a group of people in a guest house, the experience has always been enchanting. …
14 of us make an annual trip to cross country ski, snow shoe and dine at the Mountain Top resort. Beautiful location and accommodations, friendly staff and well groomed trails! I hope to return for many more years. Helena Hall
Awesome resort for cross country skiing, friends/family gathering or a wedding. We enjoyed our weekend at Timbers - lovely home adjacent to the ski trails. We also had plentiful buffet breakfasts and a delicious dinner at the restaurant. Very friendly staff and servers. Highly recommend.
The Mountain Top Inn never disappoints! This was my 4th time to this wonderful resort. Though there were 2 weddings going on and the restaurant and other facilities were busy it still seemed like a tranquil resort. There was tons of snow which made for fabulous cross country skiing and snow shoeing. They did a great job grooming the trails. And get this---they shoveled the snow off of all the cars in the parking lot! The menu is very interesting and the meal preparations are top notch (good value too!). In fact, I would say they serve the best pad thai our group has ever tasted, and we are all discerning customers. Staff is friendly and efficient. Everything was just just perfect. We will be back!
Just visited Mtn Top for the 3rd time, and every single time has been a JOY! We always stay in the winter at one of the houses and it is so much fun. The cross country trail system is fantastic, hot tub at the lodge is great, and honestly...I love the sledding at the lodge! The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the meals at the lodge are delicious! Only great things to say about this magical place.
After taking some time to reflect, I would like to share my experience planning my sister's wedding at this venue. I do professional event planning for conferences and work in conjunction with the entertainment industry and my friend is a professional meeting and event planner by trade who chose to plan this wedding for free instead of working at the world cup in Qatar. We understand the hiccups and inconveniences in this industry and typically will let small grievances slide. From the moment my sister chose this venue, I could tell from the site visit that it was going to be a bumpy ride. They sold out the entire hotel over a year in advance with no warning to us so we could reserve more inventory for our guests. The staff on-site was unprofessional and disrespectful, making snickering remarks behind our backs and being extremely rude. In the meeting with the event manager, she didn’t even care to take a moment to greet us upon meeting us in person for the first time after several emails and phone calls, she was short with us and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. Unfortunately, the poor treatment continued during the actual event, with the onsite coordinator was openly complaining about the after-party in front of the mother of the bride. As someone who works in the event industry, I have never felt so disrespected by hotel staff and event coordinators. Although the restaurant staff, florist, event set-up team, and contracted vendors were exceptional, the negative experience with the hotel staff overshadowed any positives. The cost of the hotel did not justify the level of service received, and I would not recommend this venue for corporate events or weddings. If you are interested in the view, I suggest enjoying lunch at the restaurant rather than paying to stay at the resort which offers little to perks and operates more on a boutique hotel level. However, if you are planning an event, I highly recommend considering a different venue where you will be treated with respect and receive the service you deserve. Perhaps The Trapp Family Lodge.…
We stayed here for a wedding that was held on the property. We had to stay two nights because that was required for the weekend. The property is nice and the staff there was very friendly. The food they served in the restaurant was good, but I can't comment on price because all our meals were paid by the wedding party. However, I felt the room was overpriced for what we got. Our bill was $517. The room was very small as was the bathroom. The lighting system in the room was poor with no overhead light and no light in the first part of the room. There was a small mirror and you couldn't use it because there wasn't enough light. The counter space around the bathroom sink was very small and there were no shelves to put toilet articles. The walls must have been very thin because we could hear our neighbors on both sides talking and could hear what they were saying. The one room had a baby that starting crying at 6 AM. The was no thermostat in the room so I assume they had a central control somewhere. It was plenty warm during the day but at night they must have turned the heat down because the room got too cold. My biggest complaint had to do with my bed. When I turned the covers down there was a huge stain on the mattress cover and also on the pad below. It was at least 2 feet across. My best guess was spilled coffee but I am not really sure. I called the front desk and the man working brought up new sheets and handed them to me. My wife and I had to change the sheets ourselves, which was bad enough. When we started to change the sheets we realized that they were too small and wouldn't fit on the bed. We took off the stained cover and I laid down the sheets that he gave us and slept on that. The next morning I went to the front desk and complained. They sent a housekeeper who said the sheets were for a twin bad and she remade the bed. At no time did anyone explain to me how that stained bed was not seen when the beds should have been made-up before we arrived. Based on our overall experience at the price we paid, I do not recommend the Mountain Top Inn.…
The resort itself is beautiful. The views are gorgeous and the rooms are very nice. We also ate dinner at the restaurant and enjoy our meals. The staff however, was nothing but rude and frustrating to deal with from the moment we arrived. The man who checked us in was so unfriendly and was short with us. We stayed in two different rooms. My husband and myself in a regular room, and my in-laws in a larger suite. My in-laws were in the larger suite noticed that their TV did not work. They called the front desk and someone came up to try to fix it. They were unsuccessful and had to come back again later that day. They spent about an hour of our trip in the room dealing with the broken tv. The next morning, they were moved to another room with a working tv so they had to pack and move all of their belongings. Then, this new room had a refrigerator that was not working so they had to switch it out. While they were switching it, they left the door to the room wide open with all of their belongings in it. Anyone could have just walked right in. My in-laws kept trying to ask to speak with a manager and kept being told that there was no manager. The woman we got to speak with basically said we were ridiculous for complaining as it was “just a tv.” We were not complaining about the TV, we were complaining about the inconvenience and the time spent of our vacation dealing with the tv. We wanted to go to the hot tub, only to realize there were no slippers or robes provided. The hot tub is not near the rooms and you have to walk outside (in the cold) so some slippers and a robe would be appreciated. We have stayed at many resorts with hot tubs and have never not received these simple accomodations. We also asked for the fireplace outside to be lit and waited about 20 minutes and no one showed up so I went inside to ask again and it took another 10 minutes for someone to come light it. Whenever we asked something at the front desk, we felt like we were an inconvenience to the hotel staff. We told the woman at the front desk that we wanted to cancel our horse draw sleigh ride and she told us to call the activities center. For the price we were paying for the hotel, you would think she could make the call herself. We called and no one answered, so she said “well did you leave a message?” We said no, can’t you leave the message for us? We noticed that the staff is very friendly to all of the couples that they give wedding tours to and they bend over backwards for them, but they seem to be bothered by guests that are not wedding guests. We then were charged a resort fee at the end of our stay (which is noted when you book on the website). I called to ask what the resort fee was for being that we were not comfortable using the hot tub without slippers and a robe, there was no snow so there was no snowshoeing or cross country skiing, and it took a half hour just for someone to get the fire pit turned on. I asked to speak with the manager and she asked why, I told her I wanted to discuss some concerns about our stay, and then all of the sudden she said she was the manager. From my understanding, the manager is a male. Basically, she magically turned into the manager when I said I wanted to complain. The woman on the phone was very nasty. She said “well that is what it is.” The phone call was not pleasant at all. Her tone was so defensive and she made no attempt to listen to or understand my frustration with our stay. She hung up the phone without even saying goodbye. Sadly due to the rude and unfriendly nature of the hotel staff, we cannot recommend this hotel and will not be returning. Oh and the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything going on next door to you, in the hallways and above you. No safe in the room either.…
Missed opportunities could have made this 4 a 5. It is beautiful. And yet, we had cabin-fever due to remote location, limited food options (sorry, we can’t accommodate you for dinner, what now?), no offsite transportation and no nearby grocery. Add limited activities/services (none) in the late fall off-season. This setup should come with a clear warning: bring groceries (peanut butter, fruit and cereal at least), make dinner reservations, don’t expect to go off property unless you bring your own vehicle, and a clear understanding that in November there are zero resort activities available.
