We had a pretty nice time during our recent stay in Burlington, Vermont. Linda, our host, was out and about when we arrived, but left us keys to the house and directions to our room. Our room was small but reasonably well-equipped, and satisfied our needs during the limited amount of time we were in it. The house is lovely... More

We booked two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. When arriving, we found that we were sharing the bathroom with other guests - who did not bother to flush. Beyond basic. We gladly left rather than stay (the owner seemed nice and somewhat embarrassed by the situation). Would not go back in any case.

Linda is a very pleasant and helpful host who offers Hartwell House, a family home, as bed & breakfast. There are three rooms with a shared bathroom. The fee charged fairly reflected the accommodation. The room in which we stayed had limited space & a rather noisy, but effective air conditioning unit. The house is clean and tidy with no... More

Linda Hartwell owns and operates this B&B in her home (built about 1890) but her neighbours are not very supportive of the venture. There are two small upstairs rooms with a shared bath. Breakfast was in the kitchen and consisted of a choice of cereal, fruit, choice of style of egg with bacon and toast and coffee.

We've been going up to Burlington a lot, and staying in various B&Bs. We stayed at Hartwell House two nights in a row, and wanted to stay a third. The house itself was cozy, clean, and quiet. Linda was a great host, very nice to talk to. Breakfast was great too- definitely one of the best poached eggs I've ever... More

I have stayed in at least 3 B&B’s in the Burlington area, looking for the combination of convenience to downtown, quiet and comfortable. Other places seemed to be intent on reminding me that I was in New England…a little too cute, too generically New England. Hartwell House (and Linda) does a wonderful job of accessibility, comfort, and quiet. Linda is... More

Basically all of the previous reviews are right on -- wherever you go, you pretty much get what you pay for. In the case of Hartwell House, the value is fantastic. Linda keeps a very clean, comfortable home that she shares hospitably with her guests. Yes, it's an old house that creaks, and the finishes are not modern, but if... More

We stayed in a very quaint room and we were quite comfortable. The bed was old and made some noise as might if you were staying with relatives; it did not bother us...all was very clean. We had a great first B&B experience. The price is great, the home is old and full of history which we loved, and Mrs.... More

Hard to review this one. The price is very good for the area, and the location is nice and quiet, in a residential area that's not too central but just a couple of minutes' drive away from the main attractions. Having said that, we had a few issues with the quality of the bed, and the fact that we were... More

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Hartwell House, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We are low-key people and staying with Linda was sort of like spending the weekend with a distant aunt. The accommodations aren't luxe or modern, but they're comfortable and homey. Breakfast included is a great deal, and there's a reason all... More
