Thank goodness these places still exist. Fantastic village inn right on the village green (white in Februrary) in the center of the towns activities. Friendly, inviting, comfortable and warm, The radiators in the lobby hissed and moaned perfectly. (No disturbing noises in the suites). So comforting. Room was spacious and well appointed. Comfortable bed, slept soundly. I did nudge the pendulum in the wonderful GF clock in the hall. Luckily no one objected to the chimes. Joel, the owner/inn keeper, was gracious and accomodating, eager to make my stay enjoyable. I was so very pleased and satisfied. I will return to hike and bike and,of course, to visit my favorite clock repair man. PS. Dinner around the corner at Cafe' Provence was 10/10.
Booked room, paid, and when I have arrived got smaller room. Room completely did not match with the pic. I asked twice to help fixing it, but nobody cared. I think, this how hotel makes money: post a picture of the room with 3 windows, sofa in the sitting area etc, charches 30% more, and guest gets whatever is available no matter what guest books. I don't know what is wrong with the owner, but in my opinion, he does not care about his guests.
Stayed on 2nd floor good thing can’t find staff to run elevator (1906 elevator staff run only). Lots of tripping hazards. Good breakfast tho if you get their on time. Little parking front or back. Would I stay their again? No Window AC blew right at me, hardly was enough to cool the room. Just another historical site.
I went to the Brandon Inn with some old friends from college as a girls' trip weekend getaway, and it did not disappoint! The Brandon Inn is a beautiful inn that is full of rustic charm and the most friendly, lovely people. The owners of the inn cared deeply about the enjoyment of our stay and were incredibly helpful, attentive, and kind throughout our stay. With the new coffee shop and recent upgrades to the building, the new owners have married historic authenticity and intrigue with modern comforts. We enjoyed drinks by the fire pit/pool at the inn in the evening, a delicious breakfast each morning, and walks exploring the quaint town during the day. We all plan to come back with our husbands and children, as there is something for everyone in this town and inn!
We booked the Brandon Inn, as we are dropping our son off at Middlebury College. What a HUGE mistake! We originally booked for two nights, but have decided to check out in the morning. The inn is completely run down, our room is dirty in many areas, there was a rather large insect inside my daughter’s bed, towels are old and material thin, and our pillow cases and sheets are stained. AND THIS IS DURING A TIME WHEN HOTELS AND INNS SHOULD BE TAKING EXTRA CLEANING PRECAUTIONS! How is any of that “charming” as the inn is advertised??? At $235 per night, the owners of this inn should be ashamed of the property they are operating. My recommendation to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Brandon/Middlebury area of Vermont is look elsewhere! The town is charming and quaint, with cute shops and restaurants. The Brandon Inn is just not worthy of being the lone inn for guests to stay. My family and I will be very pleased to check out tomorrow morning.…
This property is under new ownership and lacks the basic operations and customer service focus that would have made our stay an event to remember. Instead, there were issues from booking to billing. The issues we encountered with the room itself were peeling wallpaper (and not just a little) with enough improperly cleaned surfaces to render the whirlpool bath unusable. Joel (owner/manager) agreed it wasn’t up to par and was disappointed in his staff for not doing better. But offered no remedy. Ultimately we were able to secure a refund of the upcharge for the whirlpool bath (thanks I suppose to their marketing firm) after going through an “after-the-stay” complaint process. Our guest experience could have been enhanced with an empathetic and problem-solving approach of “how can we make this right” upon checkout. Instead we had to fight for it. On the plus side, the inn is centrally located near some great restaurants and their weekend breakfast was very good.…
Our room was clean, everything worked well, and the decor was very attractive. The weekend breakfast was very good. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The location couldn't have been better for exploring this historic village. It was a lovely place to stay on our short holiday getaway.
The tour group Road Scholar booked the Brandon Inn for us to stay in during my husband's and my visit in September, 2019. It is an old place, with a very interesting and creaky elevator, and food was prepared by Chef Louis, an Austrian transplant. His wife, Sarah, an English native, was very helpful and was always there to offer assistance if needed. Most of our meals were at the inn, which was sometimes disappointing, particularly the beef stroganoff, which needs to be simmered for at least an hour and normally is a succulent dish of tender meat with delicious gravy made with sour cream, served over noodles. The meat was tough and not tasty, and I left most of mine. Breakfast was a very good buffet with fresh fruits, a variety of pastries, eggs, and Sarah's homemade jams. The inn showed its age, with our room having a bathroom so small it obviously had been added on later. Having said that, the place had a lot of charm, and the town itself was interesting, with beautiful old homes as well as shops nearby for walks. …
This is a great historical hotel. Has a nice swimming pool, and the rooms are huge! Outfitted with antiques, decor is period and lovely, the bedding and in room amenities are great! Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is made to order and quite generous. Proprietors are gracious and friendly and accommodating. We loved it! There are no TVs in the rooms but there is a tv room for all, free WiFi that worked well. And it has a cool antique elevator.
When we arrived at the Inn the check in was fine.....the climb up the stairs was not so fine. The staff is polite although not so effiecient as our last night when we arrived at the room it hadn't been touched since we left that afternoon (we did leave the card on the door asking for service) however we were too tired to do anything about it and just climbed into bed. The buffet breakfast was truly delicious. Honestly speaking (as I try to do in my reviews) if we return to the area we would look for a new place to stay.
