The Navajo call it the Land of the Sleeping Rainbow - a strange, beautiful landscape of multi-hued rock layers. Capitol Reef lies in the heart of Utah's canyon country halfway between Canyonlands and Bryce Canyon National parks. Here in this rugged natural wonderland are 2,200 private acres of pristine wilderness called Red River Ranch. Tucked away in the shadows of towering rock cliffs you'll find the Lodge, named one of the West's 25 Grandest Lodges. The Lodge has 15 rustic rooms in the authentic tradition of the 18th Century Wild West. Enjoy fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, guest pastures , hunting and more...

We loved our recent stay here. The room was quaint and charming and well appointed. It is set in beautiful open countryside and was very peaceful. While breakfast is served on site, we missed not being able to have dinner or a drink here, needing to drive into Torrey for

We loved our stay at the Lodge at Red River Ranch. This is not a lodge like those at Bryce Canyon or Zion NPs - this is a real lodge. Each room is unique. It's family run. Has loads of character. Board games are available and more. There are a couple of outdoor cats (Mazie

This place has incredible ambiance and decor. Really feels like a western lodge. The setting is beautiful with red cliffs lining the rear of the property and bison out front. Front desk was very friendly. Recommended if you are visiting Capitol Reef.

Don't know anything about Capitol Reef Resort, but I give a definite "thumbs up" to the Lodge at Red River Ranch. Spent 3 nights there back in late May and thought it was wonderful. Comfortable room, nice hot tub, good breakfast, and I really liked the great room as a place to sit and read. Very good looking place.
