I struggled to figure out the kitchen situation with the rooms before booking. We booked a Sundance suite and my daughter booked a standard. The rooms were similar with suite being larger. The suite had an entryway, fireplace; 2 seat table, a larger kitchenette with mini fridge (tiny freezer--16 x 4ish?), 10 cup coffee maker, microwave, and a portable electric burner. The suite also had a small deck (with forest view) and a larger bathroom space with one sink and a large soaking tub. The pictures of a full kitchen on Expedia in the Sundance suite are wrong. The standard room did not have an entry, was a decent size with a fire place, small outdoor space (less of a view, 2 seat table, tiny kitchen ish space (mini fridge with tiny freezer, small microwave, and small coffee maker), and a smaller bathroom than the suite. There are walkways to get down to the Springs (spa pools) and restaurants (10 minutes walk downhill)--some of path lights off after 9:00 so bring flashlight if walking back. Fitness center is really only if you want a small weights room. Elliptical wasn't working, one treadmill, one ancient stairmaster elliptical hybrid that was in terrible condition. Tara, who taught my jewelry class was great--highly recommend! I have been taking silversmithing classes at various times over the years, so I know she is well qualified, but also a good instructor. We enjoyed the Owl bar and the Foundry for meals and drinks. The bakery items at the Sundance deli were good.

If you are looking for a cool, hip resort that’s smaller than Park City with good skiing…stay at Sundance. Food is amazing at all of their restaurants, the staff is so helpful, and the rooms are lovely. Their bar has live music and delicious cocktails. Some of the rooms you have to walk up several stairs, so make sure you ask about your room location if stairs are tough for you. Parking can be hard to find near your room. Make sure to discuss all of this with front desk at check in.

This was our first stay at a ski resort and our first stay in a mountain home, but it likely won’t be our last. The Cascade Ridge home is huge with 6 bedrooms, two living rooms, nearly one bathroom for every bedroom and more fireplaces than we could count. The pool table and hot tub were also great amenities and got a great deal of use over the course of our one week stay. We found the beds quite comfortable and the temperature very comfortable even when the thermometer got down below 10 outside. But the real reason to stay here is the amazing view out the great room window and deck. The pines frame the spectacular view of the mountain where snowmelt waterfalls create massive ice walls.

As this was our first trip to Sundance, we didn’t really know what to expect, so we thought we would share some information readers might find helpful. If you’re not going to drive (and driving on the narrow roads in snowy conditions was not something we wanted to do), be prepared to be shuttled to pretty much everywhere you’ll want to go on the resort. The mountain homes are much to far to try to walk to the main resort area. They also do not provide daily housekeeping services to the mountain homes so be prepared to reuse towels, etc. Finally food options are somewhat limited at the resort and reservations can be hard to come by at normal dining hours, so you’ll want to plan ahead and make your reservations early. One nice feature of the mountain homes is that the concierge can arrange to have groceries delivered to your cabin, even on the day before your arrival so you have a fully stocked refrigerator when you move in.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sundance. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, if a little overwhelmed by the volume of people staying while we were there. We took lessons on the slopes, used a guide for a snowshoeing trek and even took a leather making class and everyone we meet was friendly and generous with their time and talents. We feel that some of the issues we had were mostly due to our inexperience in traveling and spending time in this kind of environment, but we’ll be ready next time and we truly hope to return to Sundance again.

This was a fun night out though it was extremely crowded. We were there to do a zip line, full moon tour. Others were there to simply ride the lift. Those just riding the lift had a 2 hour wait regardless of prepaying for their tickets. Those riding the zip line were luckier and were able to bypass the line. We’ve zip lined several times and honestly this was a very high price tag for what you actually get. Though the moon is always cool to see, the event missed the actual full moon by three days so I’m not sure why they call it a full moon tour? All of the workers were very kind and helpful and Sundance is undoubtedly a beautiful place though you can’t see much of the scenery at night. Overall, I wouldn’t do this particular zip tour again at just under 200.00 for the pair of us. IF I had the time to wait in line 2 hours, I could see the lift ride, which has a lower price tag, being a good date night. Make sure to get at the resort at least 30-40 min early as you will be directed to park very far away and then must wait to be shuttled to where you need to be.

My wife and I honeymooned here and came back yearly for our anniversary. We have been married 30 years now. We love the Mandan cottage suite as there is some privacy and a kitchenette. The first few years were spectacular. Service was great and the care and attention to detailed comfort was spot on. The reservation came with Sunday brunch which was spectacular! Then a price change came about pushing us to go elsewhere. Then another price change brought us back. But sadly the service lacked and the changes that were made to dining and services were bothersome. Had to call several times to ask for more fire wood as they would not bring enough each time they arrived. The room would come with a basket of goodies and some beverages but unbeknownst to us if used you paid a healthy sum upon checking out. I guess they make a nice decoration. Then a price change again, forcing us out. The last stay was a gift from our children pooling their monies to give their parents a nice anniversary. Haven’t been able to stay for many years now. It saddens us that we cannot go back and enjoy the cabin every year. Is it too much to ask to make it affordable?

Have been visiting Sundance for many years. This one was for our anniversary and was hoping/expecting it would be as great as it had been in the past, but unfortunately it started with the front desk stating they were offering an early check-in and late check out which was not honored and even later told that no one would ever say that and that there were ‘no notes’ on our reservation, so I guess the conversation never happened? Then we arrive to our room and my wife sees a large black insect crawling over the pillows, I remove the bug from the bed and shake out the linens to ensure we don’t have any other surprises. Be aware that there is not air conditioning in these units and if instead, you happen to need the heat, the only source is from extra old baseboard heaters that creek all night long. Most importantly, If you believe your going to get treated like a welcome guest instead of a number contributing to their top line revenue, who just needs to pay for their overpriced (everything, rooms, food, snacks) and move on, you are in for a rude awakening. Front desk will use ‘policy’ and condescension to ensure you are aware that you are in fact, not special or welcome and you should only be so lucky to stay at the ‘prestigious’ rundown, Sundance Mountain Resort. We promptly cancelled our spa reservations and breakfast and did leave early as I’m sure they were grateful so they could get rooms prepped for their next revenue source. Good luck to the new ownership, and management; your off to an exceptionally terrible start and we can safely say we intend to spend our money and time elsewhere.

It's always our pleasure to welcome guests who are celebrating special occasions such as an anniversary. It is very disappointing to hear you felt you were not welcome and that your stay was not important or special to us and we offer our sincere apology. We have shared your concerns with our staff so we may continue to improve our service. We offer early check in and late check out, based on availability. We are installing air conditioning in more and more of our cottages and hope to have the project complete over the summer. Luckily here in the mountains we often have a cool breezes in the evening. Knowing you have been visiting Sundance for years we hope you will give us the opportunity to make things right with you and overcome your most recent impression. Please give us a call or drop us a note directly. We look forward to hearing from you.

The resort is lovely, and I’ve been wanting for years to come here. My disappointment is in the noise factor of many of the rooms, which is a deal breaker for me, especially when you come here as a respite from the busyness of life and all you hear are cars and motorcycles whizzing by in a continual parade while you’re sitting on the deck of your room. The view of the trees has a steady stream of cars in the background. Understandably that detracts from the peace and tranquility I had hoped to experience during my stay.

So make sure you know the location of your room when you make a reservation. The trails are beautiful, the food is good, but to not be able to comfortably sit in your room with the windows open or on the deck to enjoy the outdoors without your head rattling cancels out all the good that is here and is the one takeaway I will have from my stay, unfortunately. I requested to be moved and was even wiling to upgrade, but nothing was available.

Also, if you want a fireplace in your room, as I specifically did and paid more for it, be sure to confirm it can even be used. Another disappointment was being informed there were fire restrictions in place for a few more days, yet there was no mention of this on the website or on arrival. The restrictions are understandable, but the fireplace was a major selling point in my booking that specific room. The resort needed to be more forthcoming that yes, there is a fireplace, but no, you can’t use it.

We arrived on Feb 26. The forecast was for snow that evening through March 1. They placed us in a cabin that, according to the map, was on the far edge of the upper end of the property. We were told that a bellman would shuttle us back forth between our room and the Main Area (where the restaurants and lift were located). We phoned for the bellman at 8:300 a.m. on Feb 27 and were told that due to the snowfall, they would not be able to get to us until around 10 a.m. , but not worry in that the lift wasn’t opening until that time anyway. When no one arrived by 10:30, we called again. This time we were told they were prioritizing those who were checking out and would get to us as soon as possible. I asked if it would be safe for us to walk to the Main Area and was told it would not be safe. We called again at noon and were told they were short staffed and would get to us soon. At 1 p.m. we decided to chance it and go out. The walkway to our cabin had many steps leading up to it and was about 50 yards from the pick-up area. It had not been shoveled, so we had to trudge through 3.5 feet of snow down steps we could not see. That evening, we were told they were having staff stay the night so they could ensure snow was cleared and guests could be timely transported. Again, on Feb 28 and March 1, 3 feet of snow on the path from our room towsqaa the pick up spot and no one came to shovel despite our requests. I asked the manager, Emily, why they put two sixty year olds out so far if they couldn’t maintain the cabin. She offered to comp one of our dinners. It’s a ski resort; I expected them to have watched the snow report, but they seemed totally unprpepared.

We are appreciative of your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. We received unprecedented amounts of snow this winter season, with many records continually broken. Although this was exciting, it posed some challenges. Despite our best efforts, there were days when we were unable to keep up with the large amount of snowfall accumulating throughout the Resort. We would like to assure you that our teams worked tirelessly to not only prepare but also to assist with snow removal on days like this. Many of our team members worked long hours to clear snow early in the morning and late at night, but sometimes despite our best efforts, this was not enough. We apologize for the inconveniences and are sorry that you felt you were not prioritized during this time. We understand the frustration that must have caused. We care deeply about our guests’ experiences and regret that these inconveniences took away from your visit to Sundance. If there is anything you would like to discuss further, please reach out to the resort to be connected with our VP of Hospitality.

We stayed at Sundance for a few nights with the family over Thanksgiving. There was a beautiful well timed light snowfall before we came which really made the resort look like a winter wonderland.
There was a confusion with our Thanksgiving lunch reservation but F&B Manager Cameron Wylie saved the day and truly went above and beyond. He accommodated our group of 9 with a private room that was actually perfect for a special needs family member.
The feast, which was created by Chef Stephanie, was the best buffet we have ever had. Thoughtful and special touches like the Pasta Alla Ruota (prepared in a cheese wheel), ice sculptures, amazing vegetable selection (ohhh those brussel sprouts!) and delicious cocktails made this a meal to remember. A 15 yr old in our party said it was his favorite family meal of his life.
We booked several different accommodations. The Sunstone cabin worked great as a family basecamp to hang out and prepare meals (it is a bit shy on cutlery and cooking utensils). The Standard Suite with giant king bed, fireplace and private deck was cozy. Our Sundance Suite was a massive studio apartment with sunny deck and well appointed living room area. Our dog was welcomed with a fresh dog bed, food/water bowls and Sundance bandanna.
The spa is sparse with just a showered bathroom for changing. The hot tubs and sauna are located toward the middle of the resort, far from the spa. I enjoyed a Sports recovery CBD massage from Shelby who really helped my problem shoulder.
The only thing I would change is the limited fall season activities. The resort did not feel crowded at all and we all hope to be back next year!

Everyone wants to come back next year!

My husband and I stayed last week at Sundance resort for my birthday. We loved the beautiful setting, the fun restaurant choices and the rustic style of the room. My one complaint is the poor service. We checked in and nobody bothered to tell us that we had to schedule/request someone to come and tidy up our room/bring new towels etc. and when I called the next day to figure out how to obtain fresh towels and coffee and to see why the room had not been serviced they said you had to request it 24 hours in advance. I think for the prices 350+ that people are paying per night they really need to either tell you when you check in or just default to providing the service. During COVID people did change their level of service, but this was not the driver here- it was just failure to communicate; not to mention the free for all seating at the Owl Bar had returned while the daily room service default had not; it felt like the resort was doing what was convenient for them and throwing out COVID as an excuse when convenient. I expect more for these prices.

Kathryn, great question! We do not have babysitting services directly through Sundance, but we do have names and contact information for outside companies that our previous guests have used.
