My wife and I have been big fans for the St. Regis Deer Valley for years. There have been times that we have rated it as our favorite hotel in the US. However, our last stay was not reflective of the property we have loved over the years. Upon arrival the room had two light bulbs that were burned out. Not a big deal, we called down and engineering came up and replaced the bulbs. That evening the room went over 80 degrees with the AC set as low as it would go. Engineering came up the next day and worked on it said it was corrected and blowing at 62 degrees. That evening it was evident again the air was not working at all, zero airflow! So another challenging nights sleep. Lastly, we are plant based eaters (no meat or dairy). Unfortunately, none of the restaurants had a single option for us. We had to get creative with a grocery store meal eaten in our rooms. So overall, the property did not meet our expectations. This truly sadden us. There is a newer General Manager so hopefully he can get things back on course.

We visited Park City for the first time in what’s known as the “shoulder/mud season”. In short, our vacation was disappointing. While PC/DV are beautiful at any time of the year, the shoulder seasons seem to be an attempt to make money by providing reduced services and a reduced experience. Pros:The resort itself is gorgeous and well situated, maintained, and looks to be the best of the one’s we visited on our hikes. The s’mores guy was awesome, very accommodating, and one of the standout do anything/everything staff members along with the courtesy shuttle drivers. Cons: With around 30% occupancy there seemed to be even less percentage staff to guest ratio. The service was ok but spotty. The resort gift shop was closed the entire time so it made getting various sundries a big hassle. There was no pool service until perhaps the last day (Saturday) of our trip. The shuttle service was sparse and surprisingly, the drivers seemed to know nothing of the area. You’d think they would know every restaurant/shop and forget about asking them to get dropped off at a trail head. The food, while good, was very limited in selection. We stayed for 6 days and it seemed like we were seeing the same menu everywhere and ate everything twice or more. It’s also in season expensive. The spa was nice but barely staffed and the whirlpool was ice cold. I feel like a St Regis should have a minimum standard of service that should not get sacrificed for any reason even if a shoulder season.

Overall a wonderful stay. The room was very clean, bed comfortable, towels fluffy. The pool was heated perfectly, and the pool service was overall pretty good. We enjoyed cocktails on the mountain terrace (once we figured out which terrace it was). The shuttle experience was very good and convenient - didn’t have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for trip to Main Street. Downside is the property is rather maze-like, confusing to get around at first. Also, if using ride share you have to clarify pick up point at the bottom (funicular) or top.

Overall a fantastic stay. I arrived at the resort at the same time as one of the butler service team was arriving for work. Malca helped me with the furnicular and made sure that I was headed the right way to check in. Check in was polite but a little too perfunctory for a resort like this. An area of opportunity for the hotel is to give a more full and comprehensive briefing about the property on arrival. If the staff do not want to do this, a more detailed check in brochure is required. I left the hotel after two days with no idea how to get into the pool area. A gentleman joined me at one entrance but neither of us could get in at that particular entrance. The property is not in the least bit intuitive and I met a frustrated guest in the elevators who could not figure out how he could get to where he wanted to go. I suggest a map with basic information about the amenities would be much appreciated by guests. For example the current handout mentions the Astor Terrace but with no indicator of how to get to it and I don’t recall seeing any signage on property to that area. Importantly, the hotel should advise the precise location to insert into ride share apps for guests who don’t want to deal with the wait for the furnicular in the initial welcome email sent before guests arrive. It should be explained that there are two areas to be dropped off at the property. While I’m relatively not elderly and didn’t have a big suitcase, given the choice I don’t want to be I necessarily walking down flights of stairs with luggage if I don’t have to - sounds like an accident waiting to happen no? There is signage for J&G steakhouse which I can only presume is now out of date and should be changed to elongate confusion. For comparison purposes, my check in at the Marriott Salt Lake City Center was superior compared with the St Regis Deer Valley. Bonvoy recognition: lovely luxury suite upgrade for Ambassador status and late check out granted. Breakfast $40 credit was easy to redeem. Concierge: shout out to to Leigh who arranged a much appreciated welcome amenity for me. Butler service: the hotel was pretty busy when I was there (though it didn’t feel like it from a peacefulness standpoint so that was one of the high points) and so it was very impressive that all butler requests were dealt with so promptly. Malca in particular continued to be very pleasant and amenable. Rime and Brasserie restaurants: pleasant and friendly service but menu was much more limited than I was expecting at both eateries. Food was not spectacular in the slightest but it was passable albeit a bit more oil soaked than I personally would have liked. Given the lack of other restaurants a few steps away, I think the property really needs to step up the on-site offerings to meet international St Regis standards both in the way of taste and variety. Pricing is on the high end and would have been appropriate if the food was consistently very good. Spa: one of the best spa experiences I’ve had in the US. Special mention of Colleen who was very sweet and helpful. Desi gave me an excellent facial and Tessa an excellent massage. Pricing is on the very high end but I don’t feel ripped off. Spa amenities were all available though, unfortunately not all guests respected mask rules. Room: quiet and I loved that a humidifier was provided. Spacious suite with kitchen that I used a fair bit. Nice balcony area that I enjoyed while the sun was out. Housekeeping: the team that serviced my room was excellent. Marriott chat app: staff were very responsive and helpful While I have spent some time detailing the areas that I wasn’t so impressed with in this review, my overall experience was excellent and I would have no hesitation recommending this property, which I’ve already started to do.

We went for our anniversary and arrived Friday. We sent to Remi's. My wife ordered lobster. It took over an hour to arrive and it was as if they took the cold lobster used for appetizers and brought it to her with the shell. It was ice cold, the lobster meat, the plate and the shells! Of course they delivered my meal and took hers away. She didnt want anything else. No apology from management, no glass of wine.. the server did offer a dessert on the house. It gets worse. Since my wife was hungry we went to the room to order room service. No one would answer the phone. This happened earlier when I tried to get extra pillows. The phone rings and rings and rings. I finally used my cell to call reservations and asked to be transfered. When I finally spoke to someone they said we dont have room service tonight. We have no cook. We can bring chips and candy bars. They advertise 24 hour in room dining. A disaster of a weekend. I am a Gold Marriott and travel often. Never will stay at a St Regis. When on vacation we like Four Seasons, Montage and true 5 star hotels. No one cares there. Stay away. Go to Montage or Stein Eriksen in Park City. St Regis looks nice, but experience was horrible and we will always remember this anniversary.
