Our only problem was the first night. We were in room 4 on the second floor and the folks in the room above us were definitely on a different sleep schedule. From about 01:45 until 02:30 they were utilizing the bathroom directly above our bed. Every footfall resulting in creaking of the roof above. Flushing the commode and draining the tub/shower sounded like a waterfall. The next morning we asked about a room change. We moved to room 2 for the remainder of our stay and it was delightful. We understand that old houses creak and you can be sure that we were very mindful of our movements so that we did not bother the folks in the room below us. We will definitely return when in the area. I recommend room 2 highly.

Room was quiet, comfortable and spacious, the bathroom was as well. Lovely welcome package on the bed that included 2 free coffee pods and some small soaps and jams for purchase. Check-in was convenient, our room key was clipped to a small clipboard at the front desk; our name was hidden to protect our privacy.
Unfortunately our 10pm arrival meant we couldn't take advantage of the discount on dinner in the restaurant, and due to staffing issues (I think) it wasn't open for breakfast. The dining room was available to use the Keurig for my morning coffee and I conversed with a few other guests. Additional pods and snacks were available for purchase anytime with a credit card. Overall a good stay!

We spent one night here last night at the inn. The building is cute, a renovated grist mill, off the main drag in Monticello. However, there are stairs to everything. This place is not at all accessible.

That being said, the interior decor is nice, the service was OK. We made an online reservation and the check in is a table with keys and a card with your name on it. We needed to call the attendant and wait while she brought a key. No biggie.

The room (The Walton Room) was down a short flight of stairs and appeared patched together. The shower/tub unit looked like it was added into a closet and the toilet and sink were in another small room. The carpet was not very clean. The room was very quiet. The window did not open.

We were going to have breakfast there the following morning, however the cook had not shown up and we decided not to wait and left. You can pay for breakfast when you pay for your room as a booking option, and we were glad we had not prepaid.

Self check in. Room cleaned enough. No COVID rules followed. Restaurant food was very mediocre. The server was too busy chatting and telling people about her life story and relocation. Asked for a second plate. She came after we were almost done eating if we still need the second plate. Breakfast in the morning was slowed, no masks, no gloves worn, food were made from box or frozen. Two kids did the cooking and serving. People actually walked out because of how long it took. Will go somewhere else in the future

We stayed for two nights this month. The property is fun. Quaint is the right word. The rooms are comfortable and it’s a fun atmosphere. With covid the breakfast part was limited and the price reduced accordingly. However, things like the credit card reader on the refrigerator where you could buy breakfast items didn’t work, nor did the one to buy Keurig pods. The windows in the rooms have failed seals, so they’re so full of moisture you can’t see out of them. Fixing these things would have definitely earned another star. From a location to see local points of interest this is a good place to stay.

I love to stay at bed and breakfasts. We arrived and did a self-checkin with our key waiting on a clipboard. Our room was lovely, good bed, good AC (it was warm).

The breakfast was not really included. Two Keurig coffee pods were given in the room with an extra charge for more than two. Each guest got two "free items" for breakfast out of a fridge so one could get cereal and milk, banana bread and juice, etc. This is not what one expects with a bed and breakfast booking.

The room did have a "welcome" packet but most of what I got out of it was the price we would be charged for each item we took home - pillows, sheets, towels, the comforter. Do away with the warnings and keep it upbeat.

The only employees we met while there were kitchen folks cleaning up dinner for the restaurant side of the business. The whole experience felt much more like a contactless AirBNB stay - here is your room.

We had looked so forward to the Grist Mill B & B. We were not disappointed! Loved the atmosphere, friendly folks, good food. Because our check in docs were signed online, we felt like part of the family. They just handed us the key and we went to our room. Room decorated for the period. Upstairs theater room and library for quiet time. There are steps to the bedroom. Before you book, if steps don’t work for you, inquire if there is a room on the lower level. Breakfast was optional to include. A 10% discount was given for dining in their restaurant. Quaint, seat yourself, laid back, and good food.

Our room was large and very comfortable. Good night's sleep and quiet. Very minor items rated this a 4 rather than a 5; not many available plugs for electronics in room, the restaurant was closed for the Christmas season and we hadn't been told ahead of time. Would stay here in the future, much better than a chain hotel.

Not your typical old lady B&B! Absent was an overwhelming number of useless Knick-knacks in small tight rooms with weird dinky bathrooms. Our room was spacious and comfy with a nice size bathroom. Comfortable seating areas outside the rooms with several areas to chill, read or watch a movie. Due to COVID, the only downsize was breakfast was out of a vending machine (which we never did figure out) and only one free coffee pod per person. A nice benefit is the adjoining Granary Bar & Restaurant where you can get 10% off if staying at the Grist Mill. The Tuesday Tacos were delicious and owner Ben makes a kick-ass Smokey old fashion!

Staff was friendly and accommodating but no one, customers included, wore masks or gloves to serve food. No social distancing was observed. They did respect our request to dine away in an ante room. Rooms were clean but furniture needs refurbished..lots of scratches.Bed linens were worn and a egg carton foam mattress w no pad could be felt. Front of the Mill was filthy and covered in dirt...couldn't sit on the benches. Weeds and trash but in contrast, the inside was nicely kept.

Room Tip: Several levels to get to the various rooms so lots of steps to climb and carry luggage.

Didn't see any pets when we were there, but I am not sure if they are allowed or not. Calling the inn would be the best advice.
