I’ve wanted to stay here for decades after discovering this B&B on a road trip with an old boyfriend. I called Claire two weeks before our expected arrival date thinking we had a slim chance to snag a reservation. As luck would have it, Claire said she had a room available because people were still hesitant about COVID. Understandable as this was our 1st trip since the pandemic. We drove several hundred miles the day of our arrival and made sure to arrive before her requested 6PM check-in time. We also didn’t want to miss what we hoped was a beautiful sunset! Upon our arrival Claire came outside to greet us after we parked in front of our home for the night, the separate converted root cellar. She had her mask on and we had ours on as we said hello. She was mainly excited to meet our little dog, so I got her out of the backseat so they could say hello. She then came to me and asked if we were vaccinated. My heart sank as she hadn’t asked this question in either one of our two previous phone conversations. Upon hearing my answer she turned away from me and said, “you’re outta here. Get in your car and go.” We were stunned. I got our dog and got back into the car and then she engaged with and insulted my husband further. Of course people are free to implement whatever rules they wish in their small businesses, but treating people poorly is never ok in my book. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

An experience like no other. No internet, no cell phones, no neighbors or city lights. Just you, the quiet, and unparalleled views. We are experienced travelers that have stayed in many a B&B, and this is literally one-of-a-kind. Claire and Gary are great hosts, and Claire takes pride in her creative breakfast menus. I can't wait to go back.

This was probably my favourite place to stay in Utah. It is a remote, charming B&B to wind down and take in the beauty of Valley of the Gods. I came across the property online and proceeded to book by phone right away. Luckily, they had room for the one night stay that fit my road trip itinerary. We stayed in the separate stone cottage and were the only guests at the time. Technically, the B&B wasn’t even open as they had a private guest during our visit but they were kind enough to offer the cottage to us. It was perfect! Very comfortable (unless you have mobility issues), private and cute, with a front terrace made for admiring the sunsets and sunrises. We came with provisions and enjoyed a private picnic on the porch. I would not have wanted to drive to off-site dinner venues in the dark, but most people probably wouldn’t mind doing that. Just as long as you’re aware. The best part of the visit was the absolutely amazing night sky with so many stars, I have never experienced anything similar in the world. Mesmerising. I would strongly recommend a stay at Valley of the Gods B&B. It is a unique property that offers wonderful solitude in gorgeous nature. Check out my blog Hopping Around the Globe in Style for more details of my visit to Valley of the Gods.

When we arrived we were greeted like we were part of the family coming home! Claire and Gary are the most wonderful hosts! The house is a wonderful stone cottage with a hand hummed old growth wood roof! It is impeccably clean and well appointed. Do not miss sunrise and sunsets! The house is completely off the grid, comfortably off the grid! Gary will give you a tour of the solar electric set up! They have very good cell phone service but no internet service which it totally livable. The morning breakfasts were fabulously delicious and Claire does make the best coffee. We traveled with our teenage grandson Kenny who did not like the first day's breakfast because it contained eggs. The next morning she made French Toast with fresh apple and pine nut topping and fresh fruits on the side! Kenny was overjoyed and finished his whole plate! The most unbelievable feature of the house is the view of the stars and the Milky Way! Do not miss the stars and shooting stars! Claire and Gary provided good suggestions for trips and restaurants. We ate at the Cottonwood Steak house (excellent) and the Comb Lodge (Good) in Bluff, Utah. Thank you to Claire and Gary for a wonderful visit, we will be back! Sincerely, The Wanders

First of all, Claire and Gary are wonderful hosts. We loved out conversations and Gary's suggestions about where to hike and their knowledge of the area. Secondly, the location is absolutely perfect. In fact, my husband and I want to return just to hang out in Valley of the Gods and hike off trail. The views are breathtaking and inspiring. The accommodations are top notch, immaculate rooms, memory foam comfy beds, great breakfasts. We could not have had a better weekend.

WE had a wonderful stay at this B&B. Very clean accommodations. The drive there was beautiful and located away from everything which made the evening stars beautiful. Monument Valley was only 19 miles away and a must see park. The innkeepers were full of information and made us a wonderful breakfast before we took of on our trip thernext day.

First off, It is a complete disconnections from the World and truly an amazing experience. Just keep in mind though, do your shopping in nearby towns before you come. Overall, totally worth it for us.

Disclaimer: We did NOT stay here. We happened upon this beautiful place while on a bike riding trip through the area. The incredibly kind owners were gracious enough to give us a tour, and it is BEAUTIFUL. The rooms are well apportioned, quiet, and the building is incredibly unique...a step in time with all the amenities. And if the hosts are as kind to their guests as they were to non-paying visitors passing through, you'll have a great experience. We will be back.

This was our second stay here We like the solitude and natural beauty of the Valley of the Gods. This B&B is the only place to stay and not be camping in the 360,000 acre Cedar Mesa Management Area. It is managed by Gary & Claire Dorgan. The location is off the grid and uses wind and solar to charge its battery powered electrical systems. If you are curious about wind generators or solar panels, Gary is a wealth of information. The main building is historic but very comfortably furnished. Sleeping was good. The porch is my favorite place. It is shady and cool during the heat of the day. In the morning, it is a great place to enjoy the sunrise. Also a good place to meet and talk with other guests. The breakfast was ample and plenty of coffee. On this visit we also had a major storm roll through first thing in the morning. Mother Nature can be very impressive out here.

Usually the phrase 'stuck in the middle of nowhere' isn't a good thing. With this place it's a GREAT thing. The friendly hosts meet you at the end of their gravel driveway and it gets even better from there. Solar power, no internet, no TV that allows you to enjoy the unbelievable scenery. No place better. Anywhere.
