Hanksville is a long way from anywhere, it seems. My expectations for a hotel here were not very high. I was very pleasantly surprised by this motel. It is very much like a mid-level chain hotel in terms of cleanliness, amenities and location. Next door is a convenience store and a burger joint. The staff was very helpful, the room...

Great base for visits in this remote region of Utah. Comfortable, clean rooms with space to spread out your hiking gear. Friendly staff for advice on travel not only to nearby National Parks, but also lesser known wilderness in the nearby canyons and mountains.

My wife and I stayed in the Whispering Sands Motel ten years ago on a two week bicycle tour. At the time, it was the low point on our trip. We're recreating the trip this year, and once again stayed at the Whispering Sands. We are extremely impressed with the transformation. The rooms have been updated with new bathrooms, tile...

I ended up here when I needed a place, last minute, due to another motel cancelling my room. The staff was very helpful and got me a nice rate. I stayed in a cabin (although they look like a drive up motel from the front). The inside was very nice and the place was clean. They offer a voucher for...

This was a clean, basic motel. We only needed a room for a stopping point on the drive between Bryce and Moab. Bed was comfortable. Good size bathroom, even at a heat lamp in the bathroom. Nice to have a refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast that was included was next door at Stan's Burgers. It was just average. Only hot...

Best hotel in Hanksville. Stay here every year when we come. Clean and well kept and continental breakfast included. Great place for stopover if on the Canyonlands Grand Circle between Capitol Reef and Goblin Valley. Hanksville Inn is a little cheaper for the more budget conscious and there is also Duke's Slickrock Campground and RV for those on a shoestring,...

If you want to stay in Hanksville, I can recommend the Whispering Sands. The motel is clean and comfortable, and there is a gas station and some restaurants/eating places nearby. Hanksville is a pretty quiet sort of place, with not much going on. For dinner, we walked to the Slickrock restaurant(?) and had some good ribs. Breakfast was next door...

Hanksville is a small place and one must adjust expectations accordingly. But it is also very centrally located to a number of ntural attractions (Capitol Reef, Lake Powell, Canyonlands, Goblin Valley). Whispering Sands offers a consistent, comfortable base to see the area. The rooms are appointed with the needed amenities to be comfortable. The place is well-maintained and has a...

Was my least favorite hotel on our two week trip through. Not much choice tho if you are on your way from Monument Valley to Capitol Reef and want to stop to see Goblin Valley State Park. We were in the prefab cabins. I think they all ran off the same water heater since the shower temperature varied from hot...

Our family stayed in a very clean, comfortable room on the second floor for two nights as we explored the surrounding area. Great hot water, great AC, friendly staff! Very convenient to have small market/gas station next door. AND Stan's Burgers next to the market. Great sandwiches and awesome shakes there. We wholeheartedly endorse the Whispering Sands and will be...
