From the road, you may wonder what you're pulling into, but the rooms are beautiful. Clean, clean bathroom, and our room was beautifully decorated with a large mural painted on the wall, and other items in keeping with the area. The owner/manager of the INN is friendly and very helpful, and had coffee and homemade coffee cake ready in the mornings to share wtih guests. He also gave us great suggestions for scenic drives and hikes. 100% recommend this Inn if you find yourself in the area. Also, really good food to be had across the road at Escalante Outfitters, which has both a retail store and restaurant. Also friendly people adn GOOD food.

We stayed one night at The Inn of Escalante on a whim as we passed through the area. The room was nice - we loved the skylight and to see the stars at night but were not as certain about the barbed wire as part of the mural on the wall. The walls were thin and we could hear the tv from another room as well as murmured talking, coughing, etc.
Tom was nice as we checked in and offered suggestions for eating and such. As other reviews have indicated, there were a number of rules. It didn't bother us as we were simply passing through and didn't have kids, coolers, etc. If we were a family passing through, it's likely we would have needed to choose a different lodging location.

ABB980, Thanks for the review. I hear different reviews on the sound-proofing and when I ask people how their stay was I do not get those reviews. The "Policies/Rules" are for all the guests as every single hotel/motel/INN/B&B in America that I've been in. Most times they are behind the door and in Treasure Islands instance, they were in the closet in small writing. I If I did not have these Policies/Rules my place would be trashed with-in a year. For those who research the area, with knowledge of where they're like to go, before their arrival I try to help them out as much as possible but for those who come here and say "whats here" I send them up to The BLM Office, up the street. The INN of Escalante is one of 3-Establishments in Utah that is considered Adults Only, Parents, grand parents, single couples need a place they can go to get away with-out being bothered with other parents children, that a The INN of Escalante Once again, thanks for the review

Stayed for 4 nights exploring the Grand Staircase. Tom,the owner, greeted us upon arrival and asked us what are plans were and he shared his knowledge of the area. He walked us to the room and showed us the remote and tv. The room was very clean, spacious and quiet. It was decorated with some really cool southwestern things and a mural. The downside was his list of rules and penalties(more $$$added to bill) . Not that the rules were horrible but they come across very harsh and not welcoming. Think Tom could handle his requests differently. It made me feel afraid to leave a speck of dirt! Even tho most renters would be hikers, he didn't allow coolers,no hiking gear in room, don't leave door open for more than a second, dont be a minute late to check out,his list goes on... There was no fridge or microwave. Only a community fridge outside. Maybe Tom should just charge a refundable deposit instead of having the harsh rules. I enjoyed my stay in spite of that and the room really was lovely.

Trish S, I love this review and let me say why. Your comments are correct. If your cooler leaks and ruins the floor, in one instance a 48-quart cooler did leak, broke the carpet and the bill was @$1,100.00. Want to guess who paid for that?? As for hikers, do you want to stay in a room where hikers came off the monument after a 3-4 day and emptied out their back-pack in the room with all of the bugs and what ever else?? I wouldn't. I also ask them if they would do this at home , and they say NO, so why do it my place. Everyone wants a nice clean place BUT they want to leave the door open and let the bug in, blown leaves into the rooms and the list goes on. Charging a refundable deposit will not work. It MUST be in writing and agreed to, at Check-In to be enforceable. I usually say, take the Policies/Rules with a grain of salt. The Policies/Rules are so that everyone will enjoy their stay. Most people say they are common sense. AND one more thing... I allow people to Check-In starting at 12-noon. WHO ELSE does that, THUS Checking-Out at 10 a.m. so we can clean your room and get ready for the next guest, is set in stone and I will not alter that. Guest are informed @4 times, even before you get here, about my Policies/Rules There are a few reasons why I have them. Thanks for the review

Yes, it is very hard to find..as driving I had to pass twice to find it.. and from the exterior you have second thoughts as to your reservation. When we arrived our check in material was posted on the door of the office and key and papers were left in the mailbox. No smoking, pets, children... sign a waiver of responsibility. Room was nicely appointed ( rugs, linens, beds, etc.) however, no coffee pot, microwave, fridge. It is not a B and B. Only coffee and tea in the morning offered at office. However, Tom is very helpful with areas of interest!!! Gave us great suggestions as to things to see, do and eat with hand drawn maps!! Would stay again!! Love to support local independent businesses at this time!!!❤️👍❤️

My friend & I stayed Friday and Saturday nights in September 2020 while we explored the beautiful area around Escalante. Tom, the owner, was delightful to visit with each morning in the main dining room where we enjoyed baked goods fresh from the oven and our choice of hot beverages. Tom seemed to know every trailhead around and gave us excellent directions and tips. The place doesn't look impressive outside, but the rooms are each tastefully decorated, spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Parking is right by the room. There are only a few rooms and It sits far enough from the main highway that it seemed very serene here, especially with the pastures bordering the property and the view of the beautiful Red Rock. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Inn of Escalante. We stayed just one night. Our room was clean and quaint. The innkeeper, Tom, was very friendly and made sure we knew what was in the area to make the most use of our time. His directions and guidance did help. The Outfitters right next door was really terrific pizza too.

This is a great place to stay! We had 2 rooms for 3 nights. Each room has a different theme and each family enjoyed their time there. The Inn was very quiet and the beds comfortable. When we arrived, Tom, the owner, came to greet us and told us about places to see in the area while staying there. (He is very knowledgeable of the area and you will get some inside tips on where to go. ) He has hot chocolate and coffee early each morning. Parking is right outside your door. There are picnic tables in a courtyard area in case you want to get food from nearby restaurants or have your own food to eat. We definitely will stay here again when in the area.

The INN of Escalante was a refreshing change of pace from the tried and true large hotel chains we usually book. We researched the reviews and were very satisfied with them. We also drove by each of the potential hotels to get their “vibe” and although the Inn is located off the main street, it had curb appeal. The choice we made to stay for a few days was way beyond our expectations! Clean, comfortable rooms and an added deck and porch was an extra bonus. The big difference was the personal touch provided by Tom, the owner, who suggested activities in the area based upon one’s physical abilities and desires. That was priceless! The only drawback: There was no coffee maker in the room ; however, Tom offered coffee in the lobby at 7:00a.m. The stay at the Inn was most memorable!

Booked for July 2020 for conference and sightseeing Unable to travel due to Australian Govt travel ban, liquidation of airline and cancellation of conference Made bookings. Requested refunds from properties. 7 agreed and 2 didn't. They all sent pleasant emails stating sorry you had to cancel, hope you visit us soon and the 2 that didn't refund pointed out their conditions in a pleasant manner. Fair enough Then there was the Inn of Escalante who sent a fairly obnoxious email stating all was well in Utah, it was my fault for not taking insurance( I did but COVID not covered) and was written in a rude condescending manner NO apology or visit us soon. Unprofessional Avoid

25keving, I state to everyone that Trip Insurance was/is necessary with ANY Reservation, even now.. I stated that Utah was not anywhere near what other states, Covid wise, were BUT I ALWAYS state that if you took out Trip Insurance, I will help you out. I know Covid is not covered and if you had told me you took out Trip-Insurance I would of helped you out. People do not read what they are sent!! It states that if you did not take out Trip Insurance The INN of Escalante WILL NOT help you out. Seems pretty simple to me..

Picked out this place as part of a longer road trip. You can tell it’s an older place but the inside of the rooms were very well decorated and clean. Kinda like a boutique hotel. If I pass through this area again, I’d definitely want to stay here again.
