Property not clearly marked as an Inn. Barely saw the signage on my second time around the block. Very nice modern, comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms. Host was very friendly and very helpful with travel viewing and local dining suggestions. Walked next door to a restaurant in the hiking equipment store. Parking is right outside your private entrance door. Will definitely recommend and stay here again. A great stop after a day at Zion National Park on way to Capital Reef or the other National Parks beyond. This area appears to be favorable to ATV/UTV riding.
The room was OK but lacked a coffee maker which meant getting dressed and making a trip to the main house for a cup of coffee in the morning. As a B&B the breakfast leaves a great deal to be desired. We ended up eating at one of the restaurants in town so as to have a real meal to keep us going.
We had a very nasty experience staying in Escalante at The Inn of Escalante. We stayed there June 24, 2019. When we arrived we saw that there were 2 rooms available for us. I found out that by mistake the booking form for a room at The Inn of Escalante was sent twice by me. Once on 6/21/2019 and once on 6/23/2019 both for 2 adults. I tried to call but I came on the voice mail. Then I decided to send a mail directly to explain it. Mr. Tom Mansell had no understanding for it and charged us two rooms. Also he didn't show up during our stay. On the day of arrival the office should be open from 3PM to 6PM. It was closed. The next morning again the office was closed. I sent again a mail. All my arguments were ignored: I booked and therefore I had to pay. From the 8 rooms only 2 were occupied. Our mistake improved the financial occupancy rate from 25 percent to 37 and 1/2 percent. Besides of that on his website he promises a breakfast; after the booking we received a mail mentioning that there would be no breakfast and he suggests possibilities nearby. Furthermore there are all kind of rules once you come in the room you have to obey. These rules should be made clear on the moment you book and not on the moment you arrive. We had very pleasant visits to the Grocery Store, to Circle D Eatery and to Escalante Outfitters but the behaviour of mr. Tom Mansell is not a visiting card for Escalante. Looking for reviews on Expedia and Tripadvisor we saw several other comments about negative experiences with The Inn of Escalante and mr Tom Mansell. Unfortunately we didn’t see these before our decision to book The Inn of Escalante. Our night in Escalante was the most expensive night of our whole vacation: we were charged $ 340,90 for 2 rooms while we needed and used only 1) + we payed $ 20 for our breakfast at the Escalante Outfitters. Escalante and the environment are marvellous. But in our opinion The Inn of Escalante is a weak spot. Our feeling was that we were part of an episode of The Greed.…
The Inn in Escalante is run by Tom. Great guy. Our room was a king sized bed, it was very spacious with a full bath/tub. Tom is in the middle of rebuilding his website, I would highly recommend staying here.
This “luxurious” “inn” has no ice machine, no coffee maker, no frig, no hand towels and an absurd folio of rules and regulations designed to optimize the probability that you incur penalty fees as a thank you for staying. This is not a welcoming place to stay. OK room but much pricier than average hotels in the area with no amenities.
