We took some family visiting from out of town up to the overlook. It’s well worth the drive. It’s a short walk from the parking lot of the visitors center. No elevation so all ages and abilities are welcome. It’s paved and there’s a fence so safety is a priority.
Our family visited Flaming Gorge in June 2020 and stayed at the Red Canyon Lodge cabins. We had an awesome experience. We loved the resort as well. The restaurant was great. Food and service were good! The store was nice and convenient. Had everything to make home away easier. Our kids enjoyed fishing and paddle boating in the Lake. It was an overall terrific experience and we would definitely stay again and highly recommend the Red Canyon Lodge cabins! Thank you!
What a slice of heaven. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable accommodations, wonderful staff. My Mom and I stayed here 3 nights to get away and we didn’t want to leave. You can spend an entire day just sitting on the porch and watching the water, the birds, the ducks, and the beauty. I will be back for sure!
These units are individual cabins, with parking in front of each cabin. My husband & I had 2 double beds with a nice 3/4 bathroom. Pillows also very comfortable. The room had a microwave & small fridge, with a couch, coffee table, and a small table with 2 plastic chairs. Their were also chairs on the porch, and a fire pit with wood, and a picnic table. The room was heated with electric heat (which we didn't try out in the nice warm September weather.) The rooms appeared to be newly constructed, wood-paneled, looks like logs. Very comfortable stay.
Stayed on a one bedroom Ponderosa cabin. Warmly greeted by Ben when we arrived and he thoroughly explained everything g we needed to know for the stay. Parking is right by each cabin. Cabins overlooks a small lake and has a porch with two chairs and a small table. Also provided is firewood for use in the indoor wood burner and/or for use in the outdoor fire pit. Additional fire wood is available at no additional cost. Wildlife valor around the area and it is located 1.5 miles from the Red Canyon Visitor Center where there are spectacular views of the Flaming Gorge below. Also, there are walking trails from the cabins through the are where we saw deer and mountain sheep. At the lodge, they have an excellent restaurant that has an outdoor deck overlooking the lake as well as indoor seating. Get anything on the menu and it will be great to your liking if you order it the way you want it cooked. We were there for one night and we could easily stay at this place for a week and hope to do so again in the future.…
