Enjoy your stay in Cannonville!
I picked the inn based on price and location. It's in quiet Cannonville and is a short walk to a visitor center for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Our room was comfortable and very clean. It was on the ground floor, and we could park right outside the door. The free breakfast consisted of yogurt, toast and coffee at simple tables in the convenience store that is part of the motel. We used our stay as a base to explore the national monument and also nearby Bryce Canyon National Park. The only drawback was the lack of dining in the town, but Tropic is about four miles down the road and has several restaurants.
This is an excellent valued inn. It is comfortable and clean. While the breakfast is limited, it gets one started. Don't forget to pet Dino. The morning views are the best. While it is a drive to Bryce NP, the value is well worth it.
Can't say that the service at the front counter was that friendly, and the place looks a little run down from the outside, but the room was good. Plenty of room, comfy beds, spotlessly clean room, good bathroom, and felt safe and secure there. Also a lovely view of the mesa behind the town, which looks beautiful at sundown/sunrise. Best part was the free yoghurt, toast, coffee, etc. down in the shop the next morning. If you have mobility issues, you might want to request a ground floor room, as we had to haul our heavy suitcases up three flights, as there is no elevator. This hotel is close to Bryce National Park, and Kodachrome State Park. Also close to Tropic, where we had an amazing dinner.
This is an old, family run hotel without an elevator, so be advised if you are on the second or third floor. The bed was fine, the room OK. The location is good if you are exploring Kodachrome Basin SP, Grosvenor Arch, Cottonwood Rood, Willis Creek and a short 15 minute drive to Bryce City and a few miles to Tropic with around 4 dining options. The staff was friendly to me, however, I was disappointed to see the rate online $20 less per night than I was charged. I didn't fuss as the card had been rung and I don't think the clerk would know how to refund and re-ring the room charge. Hard to complain about a free breakfast that they don't include, just complimentary yogurt, bread, coffee and juice. I reckon that's better than nothing. They even ran out of butter and there is no hostess to help, just the desk clerk. For the price and location and there are no other hotels in town, I will probably stay here next year, just for a night!…
Pros: * The commute back and forth to Bryce isn't too bad (25-30 min). * Close to Kodachrome Basin State Park which is well worth a visit, especially late afternoon/sunset! * There is a good restaurant in Tropic (a few miles away), called Showdown. Skip Rustlers! We didn't try the BBQ joint. Cons: * We were given two rooms on the 3rd floor. The rooms were large and functional, but the hallway had a bad odor. * No elevator, so be prepared to carry your bags on the stairs. * They claim that they don't provide breakfast, and that's true. They do provide boring bread, coffee, and, sometimes, yogurt (though they often run out). We ended up bringing our own bread, PB and jam and using their toaster. * The management is very relaxed, so much so that they didn't inform me about a package that had arrived for me (even though we stayed for three days so they had plenty of time to get their act together). * Room cleaner made the beds but didn't bother to pick up stuff from the bathroom floor (plastic wrapper from soap they provide stayed in place, very visible, for the duration). Would not stay here again.…
