I booked this hotel through a 3rd party for a Friday/Saturday night stay to take my disabled mother to visit her sister, who moved to a retirement home a few weeks before the shut down. They had not seen each other in nearly a year due to COVID and were very excited about the weekend. On Friday, we learned that the weather was going to turn bad Saturday afternoon, so I contacted the hotel and asked to cancel my Saturday night stay. I explained that due to the impending ice storm, it would be too dangerous to drive my mother home on Sunday, so I needed to check out early Saturday morning. It took 6 hours and 5 phone calls to finally have the front desk clerk tell me that the manager refused to refund our Saturday night stay, even though I gave 24 hour’s notice, and fully knowing that if we stayed until Sunday, we would be iced in and stuck at the hotel for days. The manager did not even extend me the courtesy of speaking to me himself. Additionally, we reserved and were confirmed two queen beds, but when we arrived, they had sold out of them, so my elderly mother and I were forced to share a bed. “Icing” on the cake - when walking to my car Saturday morning, the parking lot had not been salted/sanded properly, and I slipped, took a hard fall, and hit my head on the pavement. This whole experience was rude, unprofessional and unacceptable. Bad business decision too, as now that my mother and aunt have both received the COVID vaccine, I will be taking her to visit Waco every few weeks. And we will NOT be staying at this hotel. …
We visited this La Quinta in a weekend. The hotel is nice and inviting. However the room itself was a little shopworn. It had a feeling that they only did minimal Maintenance. The toilet handle was partially broken so it did not sit properly and this sometimes caused the toilet to run continuously without needing to Jiggle the handle. Due to Covid their breakfast area was closed and they had grab and go bags. However the TV worked and the bed was comfortable. Not bad!
I planned this Vacation , 5/10/20, and Waco was our stop over. I asked for King w/soaking tub. Order filled and I even got a laugh. I was impressed when WPD patrol unit rolled by, nice Suburban unit. I salute you! Keep Partying, I bought my reindeer 2 bales of imported Alfalfa for 12/25/2020 sleigh ride!
This hotel has seen much better days around 20 years ago. It needs serious renovations and lots of furniture and floor cleaning. It is pet friendly but the trade-off is harsh. Staff appear to be inconvenienced and curt with requests sometimes. Cleaning supplies viewable 24/7 by elevator. One maid per floor so checking in became a check room routine first and not before check-in time.
