My husband and I were traveling to Waxahachie to attend the wedding of a close friend on New Year’s Eve. We are so glad we planned our romantic getaway by staying several days at the Historic Waxahachie Landmark, The Chaska House, a luxury bed and breakfast, featured in Condé Nast magazine. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Linda. She was warm and welcoming as she gave us a tour and some history of the beautiful mansion. Each room and guest suite is named and themed after a classic author. We stayed in the romantic Will Shakespeare Room on the second floor with an antique ornately carved, king-size canopy bed draped with Renaissance curtains. The lovely large bathroom has a frameless glass shower and extra-large corner tub . We enjoyed the Texas sunsets on the private balcony off the bedroom. The historic mansion has modern accommodations with free Wifi as well as a flat screen tv with local channels and several free streaming services. We had a Keurig coffee maker and ice maker right outside our door. Our complimentary breakfast at the White Rhino was excellent! Linda and her husband made us feel very welcome. We look forward to returning for another relaxing stay at The Chaska House!

Every moment at the Chaska House was absolutely incredible. Pulling up into the driveway, I was immediately transported out of my busy work mindset (helped by the special stair message, see photo!). My partner and I stayed in the Shakespeare room, and I cannot recommend the Chaska House (not just the Shakespeare room!) enough. Linda and Louis are thoughtful, caring hosts that give just the right amount of information and resources to suit the guests needs, including local restaurant and events guide, full library, numerous original works of art, and peppermints (for optimism!) at the bottom of the stairs for guests to enjoy as they start their day. We cannot wait to visit Chaska House again later this year. This location is perfect for Scarborough Faire guests, located just minutes from the fairgrounds. We will be making the Chaska House a yearly visit (at least!). Thanks so much for the hospitality, Linda and Louis!

We flew from New Jersey to Dallas to go to the Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie. Honestly, we weren't expecting much out of a small Texas town but boy were we blown away! We stayed in the Roosevelt room with a ton of space, a beautiful tub that I fit in at 6 feet tall and a very comfortable bed. When I say it was clean it was immaculate! Linda and her husband were incredible hosts and the wild cat that visited us every night on the porch was as sweet as could be. The house is simply incredible and a great location to boot. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were in Waxahachie visiting family there, and based on other reviews, decided to stay at the Chaska House. Best decision we could have made! Lou and Linda were such gracious hosts, sharing history about the House, and the town itself. The House itself is nothing short of a museum of treasures, with interesting items, books, photos, furniture, etc to discover everywhere you look …..yet, also provided all the modern conveniences you could possibly want. We stayed in the Twain Room - very spacious, large bath and vanity area, and very comfortable bed. Early risers, we very much appreciated the convenience of a Keurig right outside our room, with the fixings, as well as ice and glasses, soda and bottled water. During the pandemic, Linda started providing a voucher for breakfast at the coffee house right down the street. Excellent breakfast/brunch menu and coffee, and frankly, we appreciated the latitude of having breakfast at our leisure. Oh….and how could I forget the beautiful wrap around porch? I wish we had had more time to enjoy it , but did have some tasty margaritas one night! By the time we left, we felt like family, and can’t wait to come back.

This was our first experience with a B&B; we normally stay at a large chain-type hotel for the security and convenience, but thought we’d try something different this time. Our first impression was awe of this immaculate mansion, which is a step back in history. Everything is so clean and so well done, and it is furnished exactly like something out of a book. The themed rooms are very well thought out, appointed, and comfortable. I especially appreciated the claw foot tub to end the day soaking in.
However, the real magic of this place was Linda and Louis, the owners. Linda was so welcoming and friendly, and made us feel like family. Louis is very funny and made me LOL a couple of times. My wife had some emergency work come thru for some patients, and Linda and Louis went out of their way to help us print up docs, etc.
We can’t wait for another chance to stay there. Roosevelt room was awesome, and family stayed in the Fitzgerald room so we saw that. May try a different one next time for the experience. Breakfast is provided at the nearby coffee shop where they have a full assortment of breakfast items and signature coffees. As I said, we were quite enchanted, as this place sets the bar very high for B&Bs for us.

Yes, it was hot in Waxahachie, but it was cool inside Chaska House. We were here for 3 nights with another couple in August 2021, but it is probably the 4th time we have stayed there over the years. Absolutely delightful! The hosts are lovely and helpful, without being intrusive. Although we missed visiting with other guests over breakfasts, our coupons for The White Rhino gave us a little more flexibility in time and selection, without taking away from the B&B experience. We will be back for sure. This time we were in the Roosevelt room. I think we have stayed in all of the rooms at one time or another.

Our two night stay at the Chaska House was almost perfect. We picked Waxahatchie for a quick getaway with friends because of its convenient location for us both couples. The home is beautiful and beautifully kept by the inn keepers/owners, and they are also great hosts. We made reservations to go back in October for the Texas Country Reporter festival. I highly recommend the Chaska House!

Absolutely Breathtaking! I stayed a week at the Chaska House and it was such a quiet, quaint and absolutely breathtaking place to stay! I loved the hospitality, warm smile, the sounds of the trains in the background and conversations every night at the staircase or wrap around porch from the owners of this lovely Bed and Breakfast! They really made me feel like I was apart of their family, and for that I am grateful! I will definitely stay here again when visiting Texas and arrange my schedule to be able to stay here. Waxahachie is a wonderful place to visit with a quaint downtown area with lots of shopping and within walking distance from Chaska House. I just absolutely loved staying here and talking with the local business owners and friendly community! I will be back in Texas very soon and will be staying at the Chaska House for sure!

Lewis and Linda are very gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome. A champagne toast the first evening was especially fun and a nice surprise.
We stayed in the Shakespeare room which was large, lovely and very clean. The shower is really large and the dressing table was a fun throwback. Our room had a balcony with two chaise lounge chairs overlooking the front yard and the pretty home across the street. The location is very close to the main downtown area with lots of cute restaurants and shops. If you are visiting Waxahachie this is the B&B to choose! Highly recommend!

I drove up from Houston for a wedding and decided just hours before to stay at Chaska House. When I called, Linda was over the top helpful and recommended I stay in the Roosevelt Room. I’ve never stayed at a B&B before, and staying solo was a little intimidating but I’m so glad I did. The hosts felt like family and the other house guests were all extremely friendly. My room was adorable, spacious and inviting. I highly recommend staying here for a night or a weekend. I’ll definitely come back again someday- thanks for the hospitality!
