on Sunday Nov. 16th, I found myself looking for a rest stop for our tour bus driver and a place for the band and crew to take a break from the drive as well...., in between Beaumont, TX and Los Angeles, CA and Van Horn, TX jumped out of my map program as one of the two logical places to...

Beautiful old restored 1930's hotel. Best historic place to stay if you are going to be in Van Horn, TX. A short drive off I-10. Our room overlooked the courtyard fountain. Felt like stepping back in time to an old fashion luxury hotel. The town and main street reminded us of old Route 66. Many of the gas stations were...

We recently spent one night at hotel El Capitan in Van Horn Texas. We felt lucky just to find a room, but upon arrival were pleasantly surprised to find this little sanctuary in a somewhat deserted small Texas town. Service personnel were delightful and ready to please. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, good service and good food. Although our...

My family and I were planning a trip to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park and we were looking for a hotel. We happened upon El Capitan, and it's been perfect for us. The hotel is a gorgeous Art Deco/Adobe mashup that is almost as pretty on the outside as on the inside. It's even got a really nice restaurant there...

Recommended to us as a stopover between Austin and Tucson on Interstate 10, we found the property to be charming in an otherwise not notable town. Hotel has been renovated and certainly has the feel of the 1930s. Two bed full room is small and I would recommend taking a larger room as there is very little room for suitcases...

Myself and my wife we looking for a good stopover on the way from the Big Bend area to Alomogordo and El Capitan ticked all the boxes. The rooms, service and food in the restaurant were all top notch. Van Horn is a very small town just off the interstate but has a real gritty feel of the old west....

Well, they say there's not much in far west Texas, but they haven't seen El Capitan and it's twin The Paisano (Marfa). El Capitan has been beautifully restored, the service is par excellence, the restaurant superb and the Margaritas were GREAT!!! As a stopping place before Guadalupe Mtns. NP or Big Bend NP or just to stay here, it's a...

If you would like to step back in time to the 1930's, this hotel is just the place for you. The restoration is beautiful. Our bed was was comfortable. The bathroom was exquisite. And everything was very clean. There is a train that goes through town about every two hours throughout the night, but its sound just offered more nostalgia....

We spent one night here while traveling through Texas and absolutely loved it! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The hotel is simply charming. The rooms are small but have everything you need. It was a great choice...and be sure to warm yourself at the fireplace and have a meal in the hotel's restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

This upscale, boutique hotel in the West Texas desert is truly an oasis. The hotel is nicely restored to its original grandeur. The lobby is one of the most beautiful you will find anywhere. The restaurant in the hotel serves up a variety of fare for any taste`.
