The Restaurant at the Hotel was incredible. Highly recommended!!! The rooms luxurious! Their attention to detail at this Hotel is Superb. Kudos to the Staff and Management! Looking forward to my next trip back.
This resort was recommend to us. We are so glad we stayed at the woodlands. It was beautiful, great restaurant/bar.. beautiful grounds, pool, golf course, tennis… rooms were nice size and very clean. Staff was friendly . Would highly recommend. Area nearby had lots of shops.
We came for a spring break visit. The property is very pretty and most of the staff seemed good. There were a couple of hiccups that I hope can be resolved. #1) the pool with a beach entry type of walk in spot was too cold for a heated pool. I did inquire about it with an employee and she told me both pools were the same temp. Thankfully, she had bad information. The pool closer to the game room was warmer and usable. Unfortunatly, all families were crowded into the same area because the other one was cold. We were all trying to be warm in the one pool. I think if I were to bring my family again, I would want to know if this has been resolved. #2) the kids activities were pretty weak for a spring break. Other hotels with resort fees deliver more. (I'm comparing Hyatt Lost Pines and Moody Gardens). #3) at 6:00-6:45 AM there was either a lawn mower or some other loud machine on the course in front of my room. It was very loud and I was really wondering how this could be overlooked knowing that the course is owned by the hotel. I would think loud machinary shouldnt start til at least 8?? 4) no one cleaned the game room while we were there. There was a wine glass and full trash can the whole time we were there. They should send someone in probably 1 time per day for good service. #5) The worse offense was with the room service. We ordered room service breakfast for the last day at about 9:35am. Hostess told me it will take about 45 mins. By 10:35, I started trying to call but couldnt get through. No food arrived. At 10:55, husband walked over to pick our order as we also needed to check out. No one had eaten yet so we were getting into funky territory. The hostess told my husband that they had delivered our meal to the wrong room. They could start over and make it again if we wanted. Now it was like 11:10. I was shocked no one had let us know or tried to make it right in any normal way. Anyhow, we declined because now we were pretty late to check out and just needed to get out of the room. We finally get out stuff out of the room by 11:30 since we had been waiting to long for breakfast but front desk tells my husband - dont worry - they wont charge late fees for late check out because they know the restaurant is behind. LOL, but what about us that waited for an 1.5 hours for our food but didnt get to eat. I'm not sure if there is a staffing issue or what but something is missing in a big way. …
i stayed with group for a conference. i did not book this hotel by myself. this hotel is nice and beautiful, it has a lake with golf course view. all staffs are nice. room is spacious, although the amenities are bare minimum. the location is isolated, need car to go outside.
My wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary and we were extremely satisfied. Very quiet among the scenic views with many trees. The aroma was so inviting, the beds were A+ and the staff very friendly. Awesome location close to everything, yet secluded.
We arrived at 9:15 pm on a Wednesday night. We hadn’t had dinner, and no food was available on the property. We stayed here versus staying at a cheaper hotel because we Thought there Would be several dining options at This hour. The staff said That people Had complained about the no food after 9 pm policy before. This Place bills itself As a “resort” with Prices to Match. We paid a daily resort Fee And Received nothing for it. Really Pathetic.
Hubby and I stayed here over Christmas for 5 nights while visiting family in the area. We used to always stay at the Embassy Suites, but gave this property a try since it is now with Hilton. We did like the hotel, but will probably return to ES on future visits. The resort was beautiful and going through extensive renovations, so I am sure it will be lovely for peak season. I was disappointed in the limited amount of Christmas decorations (and zero decorations for any other December holiday). I did tell my niece when she gets married, she needs to have the wedding at this resort - hopefully they will work out their service by then. The friendliness of the Woodlands Resort staff was outstanding – even very young people who are probably new to hospitality. Their words made you feel like their most important guest. Every employee lived up to saying the right thing. “Doing the right thing” was not exactly the same. Still, customer service was very good, but I had to ask for a lot of things that were not in our room and had to ask for things several times. The room did not have extra pillows, extra blanket or even a Do Not Disturb sign. Toilet paper was not restocked when needed. We often had to call for housekeeping to come up. Mostly they came in the time frame we requested, but not always. I had checked in online the day before arrival and selected my room. When we arrived at 4pm, the room I selected was not ready. Keep in mind, hotel occupancy was VERY low. Front desk offered us another room. I said I would take it as long as it was not near the elevator. The young lady checked and said it was not. We got all the way up there with all our luggage to find it was the room closest to the elevator – a very loud beeping elevator. Back down we go to wait for my original room to be ready. It took less than 20 mins so don’t know why it was not ready when we arrived. A true service-oriented hotel would have had it ready. After our first night, we had to add another room to our reservation for my husband since he was sick. The hotel does not have many options for adjoining rooms, but luckily we got the room next door (no shared door). The heat was not working (64*) in the new room. Engineering came up, but did nothing to help. I called again and Alex came up. He was wonderful. He worked until he found the issues (there were a few) and then came back 3 hours later to make sure we had heat and we did! He went above and beyond and his actions aligned to the promises of service. The rooms were comfortable, but small. There was nowhere to eat when we got room service for breakfast. I expected they would bring the food on a rolling table we could use, but we only got it on a tray. The bed was comfortable. I was loving the quality of sheets, but when they changed the sheets during our stay, the new set was awful, so I guess it is hit or miss. Towels were of a good quality. We ate only breakfasts at the Back Kitchen and had their room service. The food was outstanding!!!! When in the area, I will definitely return for breakfast there! For as far as they had to go to bring our room service in the bitter cold, I was shocked the food was still warm. Please note, they add the tip to the bill at the restaurant and room service. Not sure why, but it’s fine as long as you notice it. My biggest disappointment was the hotel’s lack of flexibility. Originally, we had one room with two people and one resort fee. When I moved my husband to another room, I asked to waive the resort fee on his room since we were not adding anything that affected the resort fee items. They would not and this may be the main reason I will not return here. Most of the resort fee items didn’t even apply since it was bitter cold during our stay: lazy river, waterpark, golf practice, tennis, golf bag storage, kids’ activities. Another bit of advice to the hotel is that during such low occupancy over Christmas, you were paying for a valet person to stand there all day, but no one was valet parking. Instead, we (and other guests) had to walk to the far lot in the bitter cold for self-parking. If you would have waived the $28/nt valet parking fee, we would have used the valet and at least the guys would have earned tips. So the lot very near to the building stayed empty.…
I chose this hotel because it was listed as a resort. I have stayed in nice Hamptons than this place. I'm glad I used a free night certificate, so at least I didn't spend much money, but I am also mad that I wasted a free night cert on this stay. My wife and I have stayed at quite a few Hilton resorts and they are always VERY nice. This place is a dump. I assume that Hilton must have recently purchased this place formerly known as the Woodlands Resort, because I never saw a Hilton sign. There are a few different buildings and most were under renovation, so it may be nice in the future. I understand that renovations happen and we need to be patient, but this place is really run down. The staff at check in was nice. The maid staff were nice. The wait staff and hostess at the Back Table restaurant were very nice. Our room wasn't quite ready at 3:30 when we got there. No problem. We were 30 minutes early. I asked if there was a restaurant or a bar where we could get a drink while we wait. There was not. I thought to myself. How does a place that considers itself a resort, not have a working bar at 3:30 in the afternoon on new years eve. We were told that it opened at 4. So we went down there after 4 and were told that it doesn't open until 5. There was a huge tear in our carpet in the room. Again, not a big deal. But I told my wife were going to stay in a fancy place and we stayed at an old dingy dump. So my advice is to avoid this place for a year or 2 until the renovations are done. I wouldn't consider going back until 2024 sometime. Again, the people that work there, were all nice.…
We felt as if we were a mild inconvenience. I didn’t expect the “red carpet” treatment but I did expect a more positive experience. Perhaps this was due to our visit being off peak time. Or, we aren’t the usual high-brow clientele.
We stayed at the Woodlands on Christmas Eve and Christmas night. We chose it because we knew hotels would have very limited service on a holiday. BUT, A "RESORT" would have some level of service. Big Mistake! When we checked in, nobody told us there was NO BREAKFAST the next morning - as it was a SANTA party. So we had to use room service. OK, how bad can that be? Well, pretty bad. It was 26 degrees outside and we got some cold pancakes and a cold waffle - not too cool! The room had NO HEAT. The first night we could not get it over 55 degrees and we slept in that. cold. Same thing for the morning shower. UGH!!! We told the desk and they assured us it was fixed. NOT THE CASE. Second night, just as cold during a Texas freeze. We were just dying to get out of that hell hole as fast as we could. Hilton ought to be ashamed to even advertise this as a "resort." I have been in training camps with warmer rooms and better food.…
