Great visit. Our room was beautiful and squeaky clean. Price was reasonable. Breakfast was amazing. We went in town for dinner which wasn’t awesome but wasn’t a recommendation from Selah so next time we will ask. Property is gorgeous.
After 2 days and 2 nights in a cabin in the woods (with all the amenities, including frig and outdoor grill!), with a golf cart ready to tool around stocked lakes, ponds, creeks and woods that host two world-class disc golf courses. Don't disc golf? Fish. Don't fish? hike. Don't hike? Chill. And when you're done, relax in the outdoor spa and light up the fire pit. check emails anytime with free wi-fi. This was our 5th time visiting Selah, because Dave, Cathy, Candy, and their crew make it a truly refreshing experience, and after just a couple of days, I'm ready to go back to work ... until next time, and all just 2 hours east of Dallas!
Only a 2+-hour drive from DFW for a stellar getaway in a cottage with hot tub outside grill, firepit, wonderful beds, full fridge, free wi-fi and DISH tv, plus golf cart right outside the door! Even if you don't play disc golf or fish, this property is made for getting away!
"Deer Path" 2-BR cottage was the site for a second getaway in 6 months. Wonderful breakfast delivered daily, golf cart included (for two world class disc golf courses), outdoor jacuzzi tub (what a treat at the end of the day!), beautiful surroundings, and (the best part) blissful quiet. No one bugged us (but the staff is right there if you need them), and we let the world run on its own for three days! We LOVE this place. An easy drive from DFW -- no planes, no lines, no car-rentals, no delays. This is a perfect spot to drop off the face of the Earth and refresh! We took our laptops, but I never opened mine!
My husband and I (early 30-somethings) visited Selah a bit differently than many guests probably do. We sought out Selah because it has two of the top disc golf courses in the world AND had beautiful luxury accommodations. It is our understanding that the majority of people who stay overnight at Selah are there for Christian retreats/conferences at the main "inn" and most disc golfers come to play on a weekend day and then go home. We, on the other hand, prefer to combine a luxury vacation with disc golf! We stayed in Drake Cottage, one of several more "B&B" style accommodations on the ranch, just a short walk from the main inn but far enough to feel on your own. The owners, Dave and Candy, were very helpful but not intrusive. They apologized that they were having some historical flooding while we were there, but it really did not impact our stay much other than keeping us from playing "drier" disc golf. We were still able to play 72 holes on their 2 courses over 3 days/4 nights there. The cottage had a kitchenette (sink, full refrig/freezer, and microwave) and because the ranch is fairly secluded, we choose to pick up groceries in the nearest town (Mt. Vernon, 10 min drive) for breakfasts and lunches. Selah will provide you with breakfast, or, you can choose as we did to save a little money and bring/make your own. They also have simple add-on lunch and dinner options. The ranch is primarily meant for R&R (other than disc golf). We did go off the ranch to eat a few times. It is pretty rural, but within a half hour drive were several reasonably good chain restaurant options, and in town Mt. Vernon (depending on the day of the week) there are several well-reviewed local restaurants, particularly for lunch and dessert. We tried one and it was solid. Drake Cottage was immaculate and very well decorated. Nice shower, jetted tub, AND an outdoor hot tub split between just us and the other cottage nearby (which no one was staying in at the time we were there). Very comfortable bed and sheets. We travel often and it is VERY hard to find all of these features in one stay at a reasonable price. Selah does it right. We want to go back as soon as we can! Highly recommend, especially if you are a disc golfer but even if you just want a great place for R&R!…
