Before we even left for Texas, we received an ema from the hotel I forming us that we would not receive any cleaning from the housekeeping staff due to COVID. This is in a state with no mask mandate. We checked in on Saturday morning as we flew in for a funeral. We noted as we walked to our room that the carpet in the hallways were not vacuumed and had tiny bits of litter on it. Unfortunately for us, Texas hotels have cancelled their room service and limited their restaurant service although this hotel's website still claims to have room service. The restaurant is called the "The Burning Pear". It was decent food but the seating had ripped patches in them. The desk chair in the room itself had similar worn and torn patches. The room was ok but the air conditioning did not work well. We were very disappointed with the service from the front desk. When we asked for robes, the front desk claimed that robes were unavailable in the hotel yet housekeeping sent us robes. We asked for an additional luggage rack and the front desk sent a bell person with a doily who informed us that luggage racks were 1/room. Housekeeping sent us an additional luggage rack thankfully. All in all, the stay was akin to being in a Bed and Breakfast and certainly did not meet with Marriott's international standards.

This hotel is listed as a “LUXURY’ hotel. Far from it! We checked in at 4pm and were told there was an issue with the water and would be around an hour before the water was turned back on. No problem, we’re going out and should be back in a couple of hours. After returning 3 hours later we were still without water. At 10:30 at night I called the front desk where no one ever answered. I called back on my cell phone and someone promptly answered. They had no idea when the water would be turned back on and were still working on it. I asked if there were other rooms with water we could use the restroom but they said all of the hotel was without water. The next morning we woke up to scalding hot water in the sink only but no water in the toilet or shower. I called the front desk and the woman that answered was not very helpful and said they were still working on the issue. From the moment we checked in till the moment we checked out we had no water except for the scalding hot water in the sink which was also stopped up. When I approached the clerk at the front desk I asked her what are we doing abut the bill She very rudely said she would give me a $50 discount and proceeded to give me my receipt. I was like “WHAT”? $50????? After everything we’ve been thru? She had the audacity to yell at me and say why I was being rude to her. I’m giving you a discount and YOURE being rude to me!!!! At that point I asked to speak to her manager. She was not only rude but obviously should not be a front desk clerk and yell at the guest. The manager came and she was very nice, very soft spoken and listened to my complaints and I listened to what was going on with the plumbing. She quickly said we shouldn’t have to pay after all the inconvenience. As much as we have enjoyed staying in the past at this Marriott in Sugar Land, this one is off our list. It IS NOT A LUXURY HOTEL BY ANY MEANS. ROOMS ARE PRETTY RUNNED DOWN ALREADY.

Dlex1234-Please accept my apologies. We needed to turn our main water line off due to a pipe break from the deep freeze here in February. After doing so, we could not get enough pressure to flow cold water through our system. We finally fixed it, but it took much longer than our plumbers led us to believe. Additional apologies from any rudeness from our front desk agents. They were given conflicting information. Please consider us in the future, as this was an abnormality.

Check in was slow and inefficient. The rooms were outdated and not the cleanest. The air conditioner did not cool the room well. With the thermostat at 60 degrees the room maybe cooled to a muggy 75. Will stay at another hotel if I need to stay in the area again in the future.

Please give us another opportunity to show off our wonderful hotel and awesome location. Warm regards,

This hotel offers one thing promising. Location. The service is good and friendly but the hotel itself is a little dated. Smells a bit funky and I would not recommend walking barefoot on the carpet. Your feet tend to stick. The AC seems to not cool the room and it feels very musky with no circulation.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a bad review on Trip Advisor, and almost feel bad doing so as I love everything about Sugar Land, Texas! Now here comes the big BUT-I have never been more disappointed in anything “Sugar Land” as I was of our visit last night to celebrate my granddaughters 8th birthday with a very special girls night out. My daughter in law made the reservation, and I was very excited about it as we have stayed in several other Marriotts since the Covid situation began. No problem. Sugar Land was a whole different story, and I don’t understand why. We are in Texas and things have been very doable during past year. Not at this Marriott. No room service, very poor front desk/check-in, no bellman or anyone to assist you to your room, no ice or anything extra, no coffee in the room, not even a phone option to call anyone on site. Hmmmmm, I’m sure the line would stay busy if they had one. I don’t understand why the Marriott couldn’t send someone to your door with room service if it’s ok for Door Dash to deliver something to you. And why isn’t the bar or any other food options available downstairs? We could and would follow the guidelines like in any other restaurant we have visited. I just don’t get it or the logic involved to make such poor decisions. Unless you are giving your guests a huge discount to stay there with the current lack of amenities it just makes no sense. I have seen on other comments that there is a new manager at this location. I wish them well and hope they can get this hotel back up to par. We have lived in SL for over 30 years and have attended many lovely functions at the SL Marriott. I look forward to doing so again. Please accept these comments as corrective criticism and best of luck to you all. We have enjoyed staying at Marriott hotels all over the US and look forward to doing so again.

Dear Jericho58- Please accept my genuine apologies in reference to your disappointment during your stay with us last night in honor of your granddaughter's 8th birthday. The majority of full service hotels are not delivering food to guest rooms to avoid the overall handling of food. Many hotels, including our Sugar Land property does not have food outlets open yet. That will change on Monday, April 5th, when we will open The Burning Pear for breakfast and evening appetizers in our lounge. We are hopeful room service will be open again soon. Your comments about our phone service and ice are inexcusable. I will use your comments as a teachable moment. Occupancy is consistently picking up, and the hiring of additional staff is happening weekly. Please consider coming back to us soon. Sincerely,
