Nestled among the sea oats and sand dunes, and highlighted by the blue of the Gulf of Mexico, The Peninsula Island Resort and Spa South Padre Island, Texas is the perfect venue for a relaxing island escape. Located directly on the beach in the heart of South Padre Island's "hotel row", our upscale property opened in 2006, and combines the highest standards in construction with contemporary, tasteful design. The units are all well-appointed, and range in size from our very popular studio kitchenette units to our 3 bedroom/3 bath condominiums. With concrete walls, porcelain tile flooring, and leather furniture, our resort was designed to resist to mold, humidity and allergens all-too-often common near the sea. Our swimming pool is the largest infinity pool in South Texas, and features a convenient swim up bar. Each offers either a full kitchen or kitchenette, and everything else necessary to cook and serve a gourmet meal. If cooking is not your thing, Las Olas Restaurant Grill and Bar, located onsite, is considered by many to be one of the best restaurants on South Padre Island, and offers a variety of delicious homemade dishes available for in-room dining. All-in-all, the Peninsula is in a league of its own--offering the spacious luxury of a condominium, coupled with the service and appointments of an upper-tier resort hotel. In July 2016, we added 27 deluxe rooms, each room has high speed internet, two full size beds, sofabed, 42" TV with cable, and a minibar fridge.

This hotel is horrible! The pool pictures are false advertisement. The hotel is run down and out of date, the rooms are ok, however cleaning and supplies you need are non-existent. We had four people in a room and got 2 towels, we asked for more and was told they were out. You can go to the pool but can’t bring a cooler, which I would understand but drinks at the bar are $13 a drink, needless to say the bar is empty. The service is terrible. The only positive is access to the beach, but other than that I can’t think of one positive. We booked Sat to Sat and left Tuesday even though it was non-refundable, it was worth going home and losing our money. DO NOT GO HERE! Also, when you drive in to checkin you have to drive up a big gravel parking lot to unload then you have to go park in a parking lot about 1/4 mile away that is not secure. Absolutely the worst place I have ever been.

Absolutely overpriced for the experience my family and I had. The lady who checked me in was clueless. The halls, elevator, and my room smelt weird. The rooms seemed clean until I saw a roach. The beds are uncomfortable and the ac stopped functioning throughout the night. After checking out we walked to my vehicle and noticed somebody carved a letter on it. My family and I won’t be coming back.

Not a four star resort. This property is very old and has been neglected for many years. The photos online are most likely from many years ago and do not reflect what the condos look like right now. We vacationed in that three-bedroom villa.. The furniture (The blinds the sofa the dresser, etc. ) was very tattered and needs to be updated. We stayed on the fifth floor and the elevator was consistently broken most of our stay, which was for seven days. Upon check-in the elevator stopped working and the staff was helpful with getting items up to our room. However, throughout this stay the elevator continued not to work and we had to walk five flights of stairs each time we arrived or departed the property. The beach is only steps away from your front door so that was awesome. I would strongly recommend that people select an alternative property when vacationing in South Padre Island. This property will disappoint you. Although the replies on TripAdvisor say that the manager will look into the many issues that multiple guest have mentioned, it appears that many of these issues have not been addressed and do not look to be a priority for the property owner.
