My family of 5 (myself, my husband, and our 3 kids - 19, 13 and 10) traveled to Padre for our family vacation. We stayed at La Copa from Tuesday 7/11/23-7/14/23. We LOVED it! The hotel has been updated and is nice and clean. They are still making renovations....they were working on 2 rooms on the 3rd floor right down the hall from us, but they did so at convenient hours and it was not disruptive. You have to understand that getting the whole thing updated is a process. They're doing their best. Our room had already been renovated (#303) and was very clean as well. The staff was so friendly. And the location of this place was PERFECT for us. It was literally less than 10 minutes from everything we did, with the exception of South Padre Island Adventure Park, but to be fair NOTHING is close to it. :) It's waaaaaaay North on the Island. Other than that, all the attractions, restaurants, and stores were all RIGHT there. It was so convenient. The pool floor IS a little rough, so if you have sensitive feet, I'd bring river shoes. Breakfast was decent. Seasoned potatoes, 2 types of scrambled eggs, refried beans, bagels, yogurt, toast, waffles, breakfast tacos and omelets each day we were there.
I would absolutely stay here again!

This hotel calls itself a “resort”. Resorts that we have visited cater to all customers. Resort staff is friendly, attentive and helpful always seeking to better the customer’s experience. I did not feel like a valued customer here. We weren’t spoken to, given instructions or highlights about the hotel or island etc. The hotel was clean. Our room was clean. Signs were posted requiring face masks, but it was not enforced. Breakfast was good and done the best they could, but essentially made hotel staff short order cooks/servers and took a lot of time. Be prepared to wait around to eat. The pool in the picture here is beautiful, clear blue. It doesn’t look that way in person. It is very small, discolored, loud and packed full of people...all the time (until 11pm). There were no special amenities I was made aware of. Our room had no lamps, only overhead lights, but my parent’s room had lamps. Maid service was good, but inconsistent. The first day we were there, they didn’t get to our room until 5:30pm. The next day, it was 1:30, but we hadn’t used anything (towels, shampoo etc) from the previous cleaning and we just got back from the beach so we sent them away without cleaning our room. I like South Padre and the beach, the restaurants etc. I would not stay at this place again.

Our stay at La Copa for a friends weekend exceeded our expectations. The pricing for our room was a great value, and we were able to upgrade to an ocean view for a reasonable amount. (Worth it!) Comfortable beds, clean room, and welcoming staff made our stay easy.

If you're on a budget, this is a good choice. It's on the beach, though only a few rooms actually have a beach view. The pool is small and continually occupied by children having a good time. The hotel itself seems old. The ceilings are high, there is beautiful crown moulding that's absent in most of today's construction. Chandeliers adorn the walkways. It's a budget beach hotel, though. If you keep that in mind, you'll be happy with it. The rooms are fairly large, most with small balconies. The furniture is older, but mostly well kept.
The hotel is exceptionally clean, especially considering that it's on the beach. Absolutely spotless public areas and excellent housekeeping. They have a daily made-to-order omelet and egg burrito breakfast that's included in the price (please don't forget to tip these hardworking chefs and kitchen staff.) It was as good as the breakfast I paid $15 for the morning after we checked out.
Cons: Somewhat noisy in the pool and public areas because there are a lot of families, but it's happy noise, not rude, terrible-music noise. Make sure you're clear on your rate and have it prepaid or a screenshot. Only because one person was upset and arguing at the front desk when we were there.
I'd stay here again if money was my primary concern.

This Hotel is My to go to Hotel. But this time around we had to wait an hour wait for our room. It was ready by 4 well not really because when we got to the room the toilet was not even clean and there was hairs on the floor. The girls that was on the bar buy the pool was sooo rude to everyone yanked our cards when paying of something. Asked if we could order food and if they could deliver to our room said yes only 2-3 dollar charge. Went to the room waited like 30 minutes called to see if the food was ready and they said we didn't ask for it to be delivered and would be a 10 dollar charge. Worst service ever compared to the other times we've stayed!

We stayed at La Copa for the two days after Christmas. The breakfast was awesome! They have a really great crew of folks making fresh omelettes and tacos. I tried every taco, they were all great, and you've gotta try the spicy green sauce that is kept next to the buffet scrambled eggs. The staff of the hotel is very friendly and helpful.
I have to specifically say that Silvia A., our housekeeper, was awesome. My wife happened to leave a very expensive item behind in the room when we checked out, normally one would assume to not see their property again, but Silvia found it and turned it in. The item is currently being shipped by the hotel to us, so grateful! It's really nice to know that there are still honest folks out there!
This hotel is great, we will stay there next time. It's also worth noting that this hotel is dog friendly, there were many folks with dogs there just like us. The hotel accommodates dogs very well, and they do not impact the guest negatively at all, at least that I could see.

I liked this hotel. The staff is friendly but some things can be changed like the pool needs to be cleaner and the tub. Broken and torn furniture should be replaced. No coolers and outside food or drinks are allowed in the pool area which is inconvenient since most people come from the beach then go to the pool. Guests have to take those things back to their room before going to the pool area

My husband and I were nervous about going to a hotel with the virus. The hotel was adequately clean and staff constantly cleaning. The staff enforced the mask rule well. Breakfast was not self-serve, but the staff served you your coffee, waffles, and eggs instead. We had amazing breakfast tacos and omelets every day. The pool was clean, furniture could use an upgrade for sure though. Good access to the beach, you have the option to rent an umbrella and 2 chairs from a guy for $30, and they are yours for the day (until 6pm). Overall, successful weekend.

On Feb. 9, 2020 I accidently booked a room for the La Copa Beach Hotel. Within the hour I discovered my mistake and tried to cancel the room. The manager was firm that I would not receive the $193/night refund because it was non-refundable. C'mon, people make mistakes and I caught mine within the hour of booking for a room not needed for 4 months. I'd of gladly accepted a stocking fee for their time, but instead of being reasonable and fair they instead are more interested in making money. I'll never consider this hotel chain again for future vacations.

I came with friends to enjoy one night before all the spring break kids arrived on the island. started out good, then went down hill. A Manager comes out with secirity guards and is instantly accusatory instead of finding out the situation, then leaves us with a Spanish only speaking security guard. Then rest of the night had security following us around the hotel. We were told by another employee, that the security have to switch posts, it seemed to convenient everytime we would go inside or outside we were followed. By the end of the night, we were greeted by SPI PD. Not the right way to handle a minor situation, instead of getting the full story. The bar will overserve spring breakers until they are falling down and needing help and carried back into their rooms. Not a place I will ever visit again or even reccomened to the local people in the RGV. The biggest insult was offering us a room for $75 to stay an extra night, Why would we want to do that and be harrassed again.

Get an Uber. It isn't far. You will go towards Laguna Vista from Harlingen then through Port Isabel. The La Copa is to the left a little way from the Isabella Causeway

Beware of many of the reviews of this place, especially the 1 contribution reviewers with the 4-5 star ratings. The place is not honestly represented by these reviews or the pictures on the website. To answer your question, I do not know if pool is heated. But judging by the poor and unsanitary condition the pool was in when we were there in late June, if there is a heater I’m quite sure it’s broken.
There are more places to choose from in the South Padre Island area.
