My family and I stayed here for 4 days during January. We have stayed before last year during the Covid pandemic, but this time it seems as if services are even more limited than before. First of all, they have removed the towel stand near the heated pool. So there are literally no towels. You have to walk to the very front of the hotel soaking wet to ask for towels, where on all 3 occasions were told they were out and had to call housekeeping to come down. Not sure why they are so against guests expecting to use a towel when at their pools. Also, they have an arcade room. Inside there are 4 large TVs setup for Xbox and Nintendo, and another large television for movies and TV. The arcade games couldn’t connect to the internet and when we asked the front desk no one knew how to do it. Also, the large TV which seemed fo be brand new, didn’t work either. The Taco Palenque restaurant inside the hotel closes at 7 pm for some odd reason. I guess there think that people don’t eat after 7, even on Friday and Saturday evenings. The only other option for food is to walk to the beachside bar restaurant near the beach, and it outdoor seating only. As far as the rooms, absolutely no room service is provided during your entire stay. I guess they are still using the Covid excuse. But we got no new towels or sheets or garbage picked up during our entire 4 days. On the bright side, the employees that did work there were nice about everything, it was just very limited on what you could do as this place that bills itself as a “resort”. It’s basically just a hotel with a pool.

Though it wasn't indicated when booking, the premises appears to be undergoing a transformation into a holiday inn. The rooms were clean and recently renovated (though not well). Acceptable for the price. However, calling the place a resort is misleading. Don't pay for breakfast, since they'll send you outside to a bar & grill that has seen better days (dirty, dirty kitchen and food like a cheap takeout) - though possible the breakfast situation may change to be inside the hotel in future.

Hello davidlj5, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your experience with the accommodation. I'm sorry to learn that your stay was not as comfortable as it's supposed to be because of the breakfast situation. I know that this can be upsetting especially when your trip was supposed to be a relaxing one. I have shared your comments to our hotel management to address this immediately and I am confident they will take steps so this doesn’t happen again. Despite some of the services not meeting your expectations, I hope you choose IHG still on your future travels. Sincerely, Jenilyn J. Case Manager IHGService

Beach was literally a 2 minute walk, which was great for my kids and i. Jose at the front desk was great. Staff was good. The only downside is I wish I was there when they weren't doing a remodel in the middle. We had to walk around the building to get to our building. other than that I will likely come back when we get a chance

Steph, the bartender at the beach resort was amazing! She was approachable and kind and we had the best few days with her and the staff at the beach resort. We saw her walking on the beach, she remembered us, said hi and was always making sure we were taken care of. Thank you, steph! Hope to see you again soon.

I was here with my husband and 10 month old baby for my husbands work so I really got to spend a lot of time at this hotel. Pros: -LOVE the direct access to the beach. Beach is clean and water feels amazing. There are umbrella rentals on the beach for $35 a day and it was so worth it for us. -The Seaside Grill and Taco Pelenque were delicious. We ate at both of these places multiple times and service was wonderful. What makes this hotel great is the wait staff and bartenders. They are such a joy and so nice. Seaside Grill is right by the beach so it’s great to grab a drink and food while being in the sun all day! Their shrimp tacos and breakfast was so good. -This place is GREAT for families. Affordable, 3 different pools all shallow and great for the kids. -There are 2 buildings with the rooms and it’s easy to navigate despite some people on here saying it was hard… not sure how it’s literally the easiest place to navigate lol. Cons: -Rooms were clean-ish. Beds were comfy but we did have 2 nights where this weird insect kept showing up after we killed them both each night. It was a cross between a roach and like a June bug? No idea where they came from. -We called for extra towels 3x and every time they said they would bring it and never did. I had to chase down a housekeeping lady and grab extra towels from her. Maybe understaffed? Overall still had positive interactions with the staff members, just not efficient. -No cold water for the tub so giving my baby a bath was hard. No plug for the bath either so it was me sitting in the bath with a cup of water which I didn’t mind but I had to try to give her a quick bath because the water would get so hot. -Rooms seemed “damp”. It was weird. Temperature was fine but I’m not sure why it felt like the carpet was a little wet and it smelled kind of like an indoor pool in our room? It was strange. I wish I could give this more stars because honestly we had such an amazing time at the beach and pools. This place needs some TLC and I feel like overtime it will get there since they just got bought out by Holiday Inn and have been making facility changes. Brush up on your Spanish too since most of this staff aren’t English speaking and had me wishing I paid more attention in my high school Spanish class! But they are all so so nice. I would love to come back here when renovations are done. You really can’t beat that beautiful sunrise and playing at the beach all day. So easy to bring my baby to and from the room for naps. I would love to see more positive tourism in SPI since it has kind of gotten a bad rep the last few years. It can be a gem of a place with the nicest people coming through here. Until next time!

Hi ginsaw, Thank you for staying at our hotel on this family visit and for sharing your feedback. I'm sure you had quality time! We strive for our guests to have a great and satisfying stay and I am happy that you had a great overall experience. I am thrilled that our perfect location and comfortable beds helped you in getting such. Our staff is also happy to hear about your kind remarks on how you view their service. On the downside, I am sorry for the discomfort caused by the room atmosphere and the uninvited guest in the room. I also read requesting extra towels wasn't ideal and the lack of cold water in the tub was a letdown. I welcome your thought on the need for updating. Trust that your thoughts will not be left unspoken. I took the necessary steps to ensure our Hotel Management team gets to read your post to serve as a reference for improvement. Again, thanks for staying with us, and we'll do our best to surpass your next stay. Until your next family getaway, Glaiza G. Case Manager IHGService
