We had been waiting for the repairs to be done post Harvey. As I said in the title, the location was great from our balcony of 508. We could watch the comings & goings of the big ships in the channel, the pier & just the beach in general. The staff was welcoming and friendly though out our stay. Maintenance was helpful & very patient. We had trouble turning the tv from streaming to cable. They had to come two mornings in a row to figure it. While on the subject of tv, the second bedroom did not have a cable box therefore one could only watch it from one of the streaming channels. This was a problem as the person staying that room wanted to watch cable. So the tv was useless for that person. The kitchen did not have a toaster which we usually had bagels or toast in the mornings. I should have told the front desk earlier as they said they would have gotten us one at check out. The second bedroom’s closet light would go on & off on it’s own increasing the rate each night which would light up the room. Luckily the last nite was the worst. At check out the front desk was aware of it. Said they had been having problems with the closet lights. Wish they been fixed. If hot water is a must with you, this not the condo. I couldn’t even fill the tub before it ran out. And the same problem if you were wanting a shower for more than 5 or 6 minutes. My last note is on the doors entering & exiting when with your luggage. It’s double doors with only one side opening. At least that door was automatic. The one on the condo floor was not. If you are young & strong this may not be a problem but for us retired folks it was a struggle. One plus is they have machines for laundry for free but you need to bring your own detergent. We did not use them but thought it was worth mentioning. The condo itself was furnished nicely & comfortable. It’s these little things that kept adding up that would make us think twice about staying again.…
I stayed at The Dunes in June '17. We were in #708. Fabulous condo w/ breath taking views. Housekeeping came by daily w/ fresh towels and kept us stocked w/ paper products. We've never had that service before in a condo. They also had bags of ice available for purchase and vending machines. The pool area was nice and clean. Never had trouble finding parking. On the down side, the pool noise echoes up into the condos front bedrooms and people were partying out there late. It should really close at 9:30 pm. Our stay was pre-hurricane Harvey. My thoughts and prayers are with all Dunes employees and the people of Port Aransas. I hope to someday be able to return to Port A and see it thriving. One Love.
The lobby areas were a bit out dated, however, the condo we stayed in 909, was very nice, loved the setup of the condo and perfect size. The grill outside is on a small back porch out back down by the boardwalk, which u would grill and bring in to condo food. The condo building is right across the beach rd, very convenient to run back and forth if need be.
I was planning on staying only one night with a friend. But because of the beach being so close and the staff being so considerate to my needs I decided to stay another night. :) Thank You Joan, Jeremy, Felipa and 6 maids that came in and cleaned my room during my second day stay :) dj2dq
Unit 406 The unit had bed bugs. We reported it to the person on duty but no response from management or the owner. There was major renovation going on in the lobby disabling one of the two elevators. Expected at least an apology for the bed bugs - what a hassle!!!
Beautiful sunrises on one side and beautiful sunsets from the front deck and a water view from every condo---and a water view to boot!! Comfortable condos and a staff that makes you feel like family...what more could you ask for in a winter sojourn.
I've stayed at the Dunes twice and from now on this will be my choice for Port Aransas. It has many good qualities, the best being the location -- steps from the beach and very close to just about anywhere in Port A that you need to go! The first time we stayed on the 8th floor facing the ocean and the views were terrific, so of course I requested that room again and made the reservations far in advance. I was a little bit disappointed when we arrived and they had put us on the 2nd floor -- I really enjoy being high up -- but once I realized we were a short down the stairs from the hot tub and pool, and the condo was in excellent condition with a fully renovated kitchen, I got over it. We ended up having the greatest time. Five of us split the cost which brought it down to very reasonable and there was plenty of room. I highly recommend the Dunes. I go to Port A a lot and have stayed at many other hotels and condos and the Dunes is by far the best. Get the 4 nights for the price of 3 special and you will wish you stayed longer!…
Well......been staying here over 25 years so I must like it! It's the only place to stay that's truly on the beach in Port A. And the pool is always delightful. And the staff is fantastic. Condos individually owned so all different. All have balcony where you can see beach, pier and ship channel. The ninth floor is my favorite but I've never stayed in a bad unit. Check out their specials. You won't regret it.
We have stayed here many times and plan on more in the future. The place is kept perfect beyond belief. With the 4 night stay you get one night free and with another couple and a two bedroom it is less expensive than a Holiday Inn. We have never experienced a problem from check in to check out. Also a million dollar view and pristine beaches that the city keeps up daily
Best place to stay in port aransas. Accommodations are great Location is perfect View is spectacular Have stayed there the last three years. Nothing else compares. Staff is outstanding. Always friendly and helpful. Home away from home
