Let me start by saying I'm a Texas girl, so the fact that the parking lot was full of pickups or that there's a 10 Commandment slab in front of the hotel didn't really seem out of the ordinary to me as it would to some. Granted, I don't find myself in West Texas much, so I can't compare this hotel to others in the area (are there even any other hotels in Midland/Odessa?!). Judging from its decor, I'm sure this hotel was something special in the 80s. That being said, while the fixtures felt old and dated, this hotel is very clean, and they take pride in keeping the property looking nice.

My room was nice enough--it was clean, had a working TV, a comfortable bed, hot water, and a refrigerator. The bathroom and bedroom fixtures were older, but they were clean and didn't have that typical old hotel grody feeling. They do offer Bath & Body Works complimentary toiletries in all the rooms, so even if you bring your own bath goodies, you can always take these along and save them for stocking-stuffers at Christmas.

The iron in my room was a little dirty. I do clean the front of hotel irons as standard practice before using them, as you never know if the person before you decided to make a late-night grilled cheese with it. However, despite my best efforts, It managed to spit some calcified sediment on my clothes while I was ironing, leaving a nice white streak across the front of my dark dress...so be careful!

By the time I arrived, the restaurant was closed, but the bar was still serving food (from the restaurant's menu). For you city-folk, you're in for a real treat--smoking is still allowed inside public places in Odessa, so if you have an aversion to cigarette smoke or just don't want the clothes you wore to the bar making your suitcase smell like an ash tray, it's best to take your food to go, back to your non-smoking hotel room.

The food in the bar is average, at best. I ordered a tuna steak sandwich, which honestly was probably a mistake since Odessa is nowhere near a fresh source of fish. I also should have been concerned when it took nearly an hour for my order to come out when the bar was empty, but I was tired and didn't care about anything but the rumbling in my stomach. What I got wasn't totally inedible (did I mention I was about to gnaw my arm off in a fit of starvation?) but the tuna was more like overcooked, leathery chicken. I choked down as many bites as I could, shoved some french fries in my mouth, and in a moment of desperation ordered a slice of pie to go. Much to my surprise, the pie was DELICIOUS, but was obviously a pre-made frozen goody from their food supplier. I have to say though, even though the food was sub-par, the staff was very nice and very attentive--I don't think I ever had to ask for a single refill!

There is a full-service beauty salon on the property that features Aveda products, so that's something if you have a lot of time to kill and need a haircut or want to get your nails done. They also have a fun little gift shop in case you need something to help remember your West Texas Adventure.

All in all, this hotel is nice enough. I would stay here again most likely, but I'd probably look around the area first to see what else is available.

Showing signs of age. Bathroom fixtures in lobby are in need of repair. Our company connects to the internet through VPN and the longest anyone from my company could stay connected without having to start the connection process again was 10 minutes. The president of my company told our travel agent to take this hotel off the list of suitable accommodations.

Stayed one night for business at the MCM Elegante. It truly is the nicest hotel in Odessa. The lobby has two interesting aquariums and nice sitting areas, as well as a computer and printer (great for printing boarding passes). The staff was nice, could use some polishing up, but did very well. My request for an upper level room was met with a room on the 7th floor. There was often someone to open the front door for the guests.

The room (king) was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Bed, Bath, & Beyond soaps, etc for those who care about that stuff. Everything was clean and in good working order - the shower head put out a great, wide spray of water. I avoided the selection of bottled drinks (water, OJ, Full Throttle) at $3 each; vending machines quite expensive, also. Son and I walked two doors down to the 7-11 for a treat instead.

The pool was very large and a great temperature; the hot tub was nice, not scalding.

Had breakfast buffet in the restaurant, decent selection, excellent price - $6.95!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Odessa. It's about 25 years old, but seems like new.

Go to La Margarita for some good local Mexican food (South Grant Street, or Dos Amigos for an interesting local dining/entertainment experience).

Check out the near full scale replica of Stonehenge at UTPB, across the street.

Don't know why that I haven't reviewed this before. Stayed at the Elegante for the third time in the last 2 years and each visit has been more accommodating than the last. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable (and may have the most plush bed that I have ever slept on). The staff is superb and even permitted use of the airport shuttle for a personal errand. This room would have cost $350 to $500 in most major cities. My weekend stay was less than $100. Simply outstanding. Kudos to the management.

Another great stay! When making the long drive to El Paso we always stay here. After 9 hours of driving we need a rest. We stayed on Sunday June 18th-that’s important because I failed to get the names of the staff that took great care of us. Great treatment started at checkin when we found out we’d be on the concierge level-free drinks, food and breakfast. The bartender that night was great as was the breakfast attendant. We ate dinner in the restaurant. Excellent food. I had the grilled seafood plater and my wife had the salmon. Both were excellent. Plenty of parking-always a pet peeve of mine. Only thing I wish they’d do is put an automatic door an the main entrance. We’ll be back.

After driving 13 hours from lake havasu. I found this hotel that had good reviews. The money is all in the Lobby. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls the first room we had the toilet was clogged, the tub spout was dripping and the escutcheon plate of the shower head wasn’t even attached. We were moved to the room next door where the curtains didn’t work and the carpet was peeling off. Stay anywhere else. But here

I really liked this hotel - better than I expected. Yes it’s older, but it has character - headboards, furniture, etc. The front desk staff was great, bed SUPER comfortable, and great price! I would definitely recommend it, when in Midland-Odessa area.

Still my favorite hotel in Odessa as I make my way to El Paso. Clean and very well kept, I had a great nights sleep after a long days drive. Staff was friendly, plenty of parking. Close to restaurants and shopping. My only complaint is the bar is not smoke free. No matter, I’ll be back.

MCM Elegante is a nice hotel close to everything. Reasonable room prices. The food is good for the money. Close to the university and not as snooty as that new place in town. Parking is free and wide open. Close to the main highway.
