Loved our two night stay here in Katherine's Attic room. Very cozy and clean. Wonderful breakfast and owners who were very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed our morning conversations with owners...very interesting, warm people. Will definitely be coming again. Highly recommend!

Hello and thank you to Sharona7751 for posting a review on TripAdvisor for my property. We enjoyed your feedback, and we always like talking to our guests. The Katherine’s Attic Room where you stayed is the original 1847 upstairs attic of the main house with the exposed wooden beams and the limestone rock walls. The room is named after Katherine Pape from Hanover Germany of the first family that built this German pioneer home. So this room has a great appeal for any history buff and family related to some of the early founders of New Braunfels Texas. Now come visit us for more history. Darrell and Margy Waldrip.

If you are deciding where to escape, it’s a short gravel road from their fence to a quaint historical getaway. We were only 10-15 minutes drive from everything we wanted to see and do in Gruene and New Braunfels. One of the best live music bars was less than a quarter mile down the road. Margy and Darrell are very warm and kind hosts and made us feel like we were visiting our favorite aunt and cousin. Chef Karen started our days with full courses of flavorful meals, being most cautious of any food allergies. The hospitality staff are pleasant and truly enjoy enhancing your experience. Margy knows all the best places to eat. Don’t worry about an itinerary, just take all of her suggestions. If you enjoy conversation with your coffee, she has history and humor for days. We told her she should dedicate a section on their website, although they were best heard in person. (She can even tell them in Spanish if you prefer.) We stayed in Kuebler’s Kastle and it was perfect. The spacious suite had a large amount of countertop, closet, and seating which allowed for extra breathing room. The comfort of this space was better than hotel options. We felt like we had our own home in the country and would have stayed longer. This was the best experience we have had which allowed us to truly detach and relax in a beautiful setting. We will be back soon for this great escape!

Our initial plan was to visit San Antonio and stay in a hotel in the city. We're so glad we didn't! We loved staying at Kuebler Waldrip Haus and learning about its history and the family who lives here. Eating a delicious breakfast with the owners, Margie and her son Darrell Waldrip was a great way to start our 3 days. We stayed in the porch room in the schoolhouse, which is roomy enough for 2, includes a kitchenette and a porch, which has a view of the sunrise and the surrounding countryside. One of our best memories is sipping on a glass of wine on a beautiful day in the patio garden with Margie, Darrell and the baby deer they've rescued. Loved the peace and quiet at the B&B instead of staying in the city of San Antonio, but we did spend a day in the city and took a River Walk boat ride. Best dinner we had was at the Alpine, a German restaurant in New Braunfels.

Just came back from the Waldrip Haus, everything was so nice, from the warm welcome to all the history and tips we received from the hosts. They accommodated our last minute change due to our own booking mistake, no issues at all when they can. They are not overwhelming your stay and gave you room to enjoy at your own pace but made sure whenever you have an issue or question, they are there to assist. Even the friendly kittens are practicing the same, giving you space but making sure you know they are there :-) The breakfast is light but warm and homey and healthy, they put a lot of care making it, 3h before they are presented. All the added little details, enough coffee, juice, a little spirit and snack and water for the guests at all times, to the comfort and space to catch the sunset to be ready for you, makes your stay complete with a smile. It's just a wonderful place to get away from the noise and enjoy nature

As residents of the Texas Hill Country ourselves, we can certainly say the Waldrip Haus exemplifies Hill Country Charm. From the time we arrived to the time we left, we felt pampered. A wonderful intro to our stay was the short history of the Waldrip Haus that gave us a better appreciation of the warmth permeating the homestead. Definitely nothing but praise for the room...it was extremely comfortable with a wonderful bath suite. A welcoming 'common room' gave it the feel of a large family gathering area. The home cooked breakfast was first rate and comparable to some of the wonderful European B&B's we've been to. Getting to know the owners (Margaret and Darrell) was an added bonus...especially since we found out we had some Texas connections going back many decades.

Thank you to our bed and breakfast guests in Boerne Texas that stayed with us in 2022. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay, the property history and our wonderful breakfast. I heard an expression that “some guests travel on their stomach.” Meaning that some guests travel by the food and menu they find. Darrell and Margaret WALDRIP

If you visit Gruene this is the place to stay!! The place is clean, the breakfast here is phenomenal and the owners are the sweetest people you will meet. The rooms are spacious and with everything you’ll need. The common room is stocked with ice cream, hot and cold beverages, wine, beer, cookies, and popcorn. Also a nice are to sit and play chess, or a board game, watch a movie or just enjoy some friendly conversation. The outdoor patios are a nice break from the city life as you will enjoy nature and beautiful singing birds. I can’t wait to come back again

We stayed in The Hideaway for two nights and I would have loved to have been able to stay a week! Beautiful historic home and lovely land with lots of wildlife. I think the entire herd of deer trotted by our room around 11 pm while I sat there in silent wonder on the porch. Margaret and Darrell sat down at breakfast with us, and we chatted around the family table like we would have at home while eating a fabulously perfect breakfast that Darrell had cooked for us. At all times I felt wonderfully welcome while having perfect privacy. I would not stay anywhere else when I come back to New Braunfels, I found my home away from home. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and a part of the family while we were there. I hope to see all of you and the lovely friendly kitties Missy, Mittens and Tigger again soon!

Mother, Margi and Son, Darrell and their very accommodating staff were very instrumental in making our family reunion (40 people) a memorable success. The property was in clean, mint condition in every aspect. The breakfasts they served us were delicious and nutritious. Their welcoming friendliness and sincere interest in the happenings of our special family time together made them want us to adopt them into our family. We will be eternally grateful for this wonderful Haus and the Hosts in a perfect family reunion setting. We reserved the entire property and roamed over all of it with enjoyment.

Kuebler Waldrip Haus is an amazing experience. It is sort of like visiting your eccentric, wealthy, interesting and kind grandmother. The property has 43 acres, plenty of room to walk. There are cats, friendly but if you are allergic to cats, avoid. There are three buildings. There must be at least seven rooms that at least 20 people could use. Perfect for a family reunion. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. Common area is large with TV and DVDs and games. Many books, including a 1936 First Edition of Gone With The Wind. Margy and Darryl were interested in many things, including history. She bought a one room school house and built a house around it, that she rents out. Floor and blackboard are impressive. Ask for a tour. She must be 82 but is an articulate genius, keeping up with current events and local politics. Breakfast is amazing, they bring in their own chef and she will accommodate your needs. I am gluten free and she prepared special bread for me. We can stay with friends or relatives there for free, but may just come back as it is such an experience. Highly recommended! Oh, she sent us away with toffee. Nice touch.
