Peaceful stay in TX Hill Country
Just came back from the Waldrip Haus, everything was so nice, from the warm welcome to all the history and tips we received from the hosts. They accommodated our last minute change due to our own booking mistake, no issues at all when they can. They are not overwhelming your stay and gave you room to enjoy at your own pace but made sure whenever you have an issue or question, they are there to assist. Even the friendly kittens are practicing the same, giving you space but making sure you know they are there :-) The breakfast is light but warm and homey and healthy, they put a lot of care making it, 3h before they are presented. All the added little details, enough coffee, juice, a little spirit and snack and water for the guests at all times, to the comfort and space to catch the sunset to be ready for you, makes your stay complete with a smile. It's just a wonderful place to get away from the noise and enjoy nature

    Home in the country
If you are deciding where to escape, it’s a short gravel road from their fence to a quaint historical getaway. We were only 10-15 minutes drive from everything we wanted to see and do in Gruene and New Braunfels. One of the best live music bars was less than a quarter mile down the road. Margy and Darrell are very warm and kind hosts and made us feel like we were visiting our favorite aunt and cousin. Chef Karen started our days with full courses of flavorful meals, being most cautious of any food allergies. The hospitality staff are pleasant and truly enjoy enhancing your experience. Margy knows all the best places to eat. Don’t worry about an itinerary, just take all of her suggestions. If you enjoy conversation with your coffee, she has history and humor for days. We told her she should dedicate a section on their website, although they were best heard in person. (She can even tell them in Spanish if you prefer.) We stayed in Kuebler’s Kastle and it was perfect. The spacious suite had a large amount of countertop, closet, and seating which allowed for extra breathing room. The comfort of this space was better than hotel options. We felt like we had our own home in the country and would have stayed longer. This was the best experience we have had which allowed us to truly detach and relax in a beautiful setting. We will be back soon for this great escape!

You want a relaxing stay...don't pass up the Kuebler Waldrip Haus
As residents of the Texas Hill Country ourselves, we can certainly say the Waldrip Haus exemplifies Hill Country Charm. From the time we arrived to the time we left, we felt pampered. A wonderful intro to our stay was the short history of the Waldrip Haus that gave us a better appreciation of the warmth permeating the homestead. Definitely nothing but praise for the room...it was extremely comfortable with a wonderful bath suite. A welcoming 'common room' gave it the feel of a large family gathering area. The home cooked breakfast was first rate and comparable to some of the wonderful European B&B's we've been to. Getting to know the owners (Margaret and Darrell) was an added bonus...especially since we found out we had some Texas connections going back many decades.

We were invited to an outdoor wedding taking place in Gruene in August -- the hottest part of a miserable Texas summer (2023). Groan! But we went anyway because it was our niece who was getting married. We found the "Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast" online and stayed there for two nights. We had a great time getting a personal tour of the 1800s buildings from Margy, the owner. We appreciate historic architecture, so it was fascinating to us. She knew everything about them down to the smallest detail, e.g., hinges, nails, etc. The cottage where we stayed with our mini schnauzer, Walter, was so comfortable. The bed and furniture were comfortable, and the Saltillo tile floors felt wonderful on our bare feet. Our kitchen was stocked well -- even with pint glasses in the freezer! Even during the hottest part of the day, when you sat and rocked on the front porch of the old schoolhouse, you'd get a wonderful breeze coming up the hill. We live in downtown Austin, so we REALLY appreciated the quiet, I mean quiet you'd "hear" in the middle of nowhere. In the shaded yard where we relaxed we counted at least a dozen varieties of birds, and a flock of wild turkeys came by every evening. The community room was stocked with wine, soft drinks, juice and homemade cookies. The breakfasts were wonderful, prepared by a chef who had trained at culinary school -- eggs any way we wanted, fresh berry cobblers, quiche, bacon, orange juice, fruit, you name it. So delicious. Best of all was the conversation around the big round breakfast table with lazy Susan in the middle. Margy and the other guests were incredibly entertaining and interesting. The wedding was OK, but this B&B was to DIE for!!!

I booked this for an anniversary/birthday getaway and upon confirmation, I realized it was the wrong dates. I contacted them via email and I got a call right away. They fixed my dates and offered another spot since the one I booked was not available for the weekend. It was an awesome place, great food and a homey feel.

We’ve been coming to the Kuebler Waldrip haus for probably 25 years with friends and family. Each time is so special. Our kids grew up coming here for so many summers. Such a special family and place. Darryl and his mom, Margy are the ultimate hosts. If you’re looking for a big party time, this probably isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a great, and I mean great, country or family place, this is for you. Breakfast is amazing and huge!! If you’re looking for a quiet place to stay where they truly consider you family, this is it. We cannot recommend the Kuebler Waldrip house more. Darryl, Margy - as always, thank you! You’re simply the best. See you again soon.

Mother, Margi and Son, Darrell and their very accommodating staff were very instrumental in making our family reunion (40 people) a memorable success. The property was in clean, mint condition in every aspect. The breakfasts they served us were delicious and nutritious. Their welcoming friendliness and sincere interest in the happenings of our special family time together made them want us to adopt them into our family. We will be eternally grateful for this wonderful Haus and the Hosts in a perfect family reunion setting. We reserved the entire property and roamed over all of it with enjoyment.

We stayed in The Hideaway for two nights and I would have loved to have been able to stay a week! Beautiful historic home and lovely land with lots of wildlife. I think the entire herd of deer trotted by our room around 11 pm while I sat there in silent wonder on the porch. Margaret and Darrell sat down at breakfast with us, and we chatted around the family table like we would have at home while eating a fabulously perfect breakfast that Darrell had cooked for us. At all times I felt wonderfully welcome while having perfect privacy. I would not stay anywhere else when I come back to New Braunfels, I found my home away from home. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and a part of the family while we were there. I hope to see all of you and the lovely friendly kitties Missy, Mittens and Tigger again soon!

It was so nice coming to this place after driving around in the Hill country. Close to many nice places to visit. The Kuebler is so different compare the chain hotels. A glas on the veranda was perfect end of the day.

We stood for one night in a very spacious and unique room at the Kuebler Waldrip Haus. The property is beautiful and so peacefully and calm. It felt like being transported back in time. The bed was very comfortable and we slept great. It is like visiting family. The whole atmosphere is very open and friendly and the breakfast was amazing! A true gem!
