Detailed Reviews
Without a doubt one of our favorite hotels in Gruene Tx! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff manager (Christy), The staff was extremely friendly. This Hotel was in immaculate condition, rooms were enormous and very cleaned, very attractive furnishing decor throughout the Hotel.
A Gourmet Country breakfast is included in your stay at the Gruene River Hotel & Retreat. Restaurant Chef deserves a special thanks for providing remarkable Breakfast. This is not an ordinary continental breakfast the other chain hotels put out. A plus is the Complimentary wine bar in the evening time before dinner. There are several other great amenities the Retreat provides.
The scenery around the hotel is beautiful, several great restaurants and boutique shopping within walking distance. It was a relief to walk in such a quiet and peaceful smoke-free environment.
I rate this Hotel/Retreat a 5-Star +. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a quiet weekend getaway. We will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank You! To the staff for a generous Hospitality.

Our recent three-night stay was without a single problem. Comfortable bed, clean room and adjoining bathroom, quiet surroundings. The hotel/resort is set back about 200 ft. from the main drag and is decorated in a subtle western motif (just enough paintings of cows to remind you're in Texas). Rooms facing the rear of the building have patios/porches and have great views of the river below. Paul, the new owner (since December), provides complementary wine and snacks in the late afternoon and can recommend places to eat and shop within walking distance in this small, historic town.

This was our first trip to Gruene, we were seeing a show at Gruene Hall, so we decided to stay at a hotel within walking distance. The Gruene River Hotel & Retreat is a gem! The staff was so friendly and very welcoming. We stayed in the Perfect Swing room and it was lovely. The room was immaculate and very well appointed. The attention to decor throughout the room was really nice. The bed and linens were super soft & fresh and we enjoyed the cozy fireplace. The hotel is right on the river so we took a short stroll down the steps and were greeted by 3 deer. The complimentary happy hour and breakfast were a bonus too. We definitely plan to stay at this hotel again, it was a real treat. Cheers!

Gruene River Hotel
My wife and I just completed our second stay at the Gruene River Hotel, we never envisioned that our first stay would ever be topped, but it was! This is an awesome place perfectly situated on the river and a short walk to all the wonderful sights and sounds of Gruene. That being said, if we just stayed at the hotel, it would be a great time. We love the friendly and accommodating staff. We love the accomodations and the property inside and out! We love meeting other guests at the daily wine tasting. And for all these reasons we really love this place, but the one thing that keeps us planning our next trip to this hotel is the chef, Garrick, his culinary skills are unmatched, the breakfasts at the Gruene Hotel including the coffee, are incredible. Chef Garrick's variety and quality never disappoint! The chef also knows how to satisfy our sweet tooth, the afternoon cookies, scones and pecan brittle (especially!) are to die for! I don't give a lot of "reviews" but for this place, it's a pleasure. Gruene Hotel, don't ever change!

We stayed here last weekend and had a wonderful experience! Very clean, lots of attention to detail, and a fabulous location right in the middle of the town. I loved being able to walk down to the river, and the grounds are really pretty. Breakfast was delicious - my husband and I skipped lunch that day because we were still so full until dinner. : ) Everything in Gruene was in easy walking distance - shops, restaurants, and entertainment and we saw several deer on the property. We met the owner while he was serving breakfast for us and he was so kind! I would definitely love to come back - highly recommend!

This was my first stay at the Gruene River Hotel & Retreat. I must say that it exceeded expectations. Friendly and helpful staff communicate prior to the stay and greet you upon arrival. The room I had (River Hideaway) was comfortable and spotlessly clean! Interesting and useful common areas include a well appointed game-room, indoor and outdoor patios, a "Texas sized hot tub", and stone patio for lounging by or swimming in the Guadalupe river. The hotel is walking distance from the outstanding Gruene River Grill Restaurant, various shops, and of course the legendary Gruene Hall music venue. I drove my car only once during my entire stay. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

One of the best hotel stays I’ve ever experienced. The staff is incredible, the breakfast is out of this world delicious and made from scratch, and the River access leads you to a semi-private enclave to float and enjoy shade. I would like to plan a group vacation just to stay here again!

After months of cancelations, my husband and I finally made it for our getaway! We loved the hotel; it was quaint, clean and beautiful! Check-in with Karen was quick and easy. She even gave us some great suggestions on "make sure" places to visit. Snacks were always set out and let me say..mmm! Breakfast was yummy and even had dessert! The happy hour with wine and snacks was the perfect way to meet people and head out to dinner. Ending the day in the hot tub was awesome! The overnight staff member, I forgot to write down her name, was so friendly and helpful as well. We can't wait to return!

A lovely property situated right on the river! The rooms are themed, ours was The Perfect Swing….golf related! Our stay was part of an auction package that we had purchased and we were not disappointed. A small hotel, so it was not crowded. Breakfast is included, and it was home-cooked and very tasty! There is a Happy Hour and complimentary cookies and beverages throughout the day. A great place to stay!

Randomly looking for a place to stay with three couples and looking at their website, it was very detailed had great descriptions of all the rooms and pictures. I called and requested three rooms. The lady that answered was so nice. Described each room and put us in rooms close by each other. The minute we walked in I knew this place was special. OMG! Rooms are so so nice. Each completely different from the next. We are in the Hemingway room. It's huge! Nice outside cover deck. Fireplace in our room. The bathroom is huge! Two sinks, open shower/tub combo! Check in was easy and the woman was pleasant and very helpful. They have a huge porch overlooking the river and several levels! A game room with a huge TV , pool table pac man and shuffle board. Loved it down there. Everything is super clean. Bed was so so comfy. It's quiet here! The grounds are all just so beautiful. I have traveled a lot - stayed alot of places, This is now my new favorite and I highly recommend it.

I don't know. We didn't have one.
The owner/manager would be able to tell you.
Tinseltown had a hair dryer and coffee maker.
Sorry...I was just a guest. No affiliation with hotel.
