Sun Retreats Texas Hill Country (formerly known as Hill Country Cottage & RV Resort) we offer amenities for all ages, year around. Visit us and you will enjoy our two heated pools, one indoor and one outdoor along with two hot tubs, a newly renovated fitness center and sewing/craft room, three coin operated laundry facilities, pool and ping pong tables, coin operated game room, horseshoes, washers, new outdoor playground, and yard games which are sure to be fun for the whole family. All of our RV sites are full hook-up including water, sewer, electricity, and cable; we have over 100 fully furnished cottages for rent (nightly, weekly and monthly). The resort offers a full calendar of activities, from live music, outdoor movies to game nights and fitness classes, for both our summer and winter guests. With our activities and convenient location to the local attractions you will want to book your next getaway, family reunion, or rally at the resort.
Cottage rentals are available in various sizes and layouts. Rentals are very cozy and provide a queen size bed and accommodate 2+ guests. Rentals include furnishings with linens, air conditioning, flat screen cable television, private bathroom and a fully appointed kitchen. A covered outdoor porch with four chairs and a ceiling fan, plus a charcoal grill and picnic table complete these sites. Check In - 3:00 PM Check Out - 11:00 AM Dogs allowed for a fee of $50 per reservation Monthly Reservations - Rent is due upon arrival for the first month and the first of each month following check-in. It is expected that you pay up to your departure date; should you need to leave earlier a thirty day notice is required and we will prorate rent to cover the next thirty days from the notice date. This unit does allow dogs. We ask that you confirm with the resort that you will be traveling with a pet(s) prior to check-in. Reservations with a non-registered pet will be charged a minimum $250 cleaning fee.

We normally like Sun Outdoors, but the noise at this campground was the worst we have ever experienced. We were in site 80 and just left (checked out 2 days early which means a forfeit of about $140). From the interstate, train and sirens this was not my idea of camping.

I'll preface this review by saying that I am a bit of a neat freak. I dread staying away from home due to a major bug phobia and the thought of what kind of nastiness is lurking on the floors and in the beds. With that said, this place was IMMACULATE. Kudos to the housekeeping crew, because I literally couldn't find anything to be uptight about; I actually relaxed and enjoyed my stay here. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was well stocked with dishes, clean towels, toiletries, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent. YES, these have dishwashers! :) My two grown kids and I joked about how easy it would be to not go home and just live in the tiny house for a while. The ONLY bummer was that the sheets for the bunk beds were folded and placed on each bed, so my kids had to make their own beds. We floated the Comal and this place was just a few miles from Prince Solms Park, which was nice. I read a lot of bad reviews about the staff, but that wasn't my experience. No, they weren't jumping for joy, but who does that at work? They were pleasant and did their jobs, which is exactly what I expect. The check in and check out processes are incredibly fast and easy if you've booked your stay online. We will definitely visit again; in fact, my daughter has plans to stay at least once more with friends this summer. If you have an RV you may have a different experience, as that seems to be where most of the negative reviews come from. My cabin experience, though, was a 10/10.…

We just returned from 3 night stay. I always experience anxiety re: looks and cleanliness.This place exceeded our expectations. We stayed in pecos cabin. It was small but super clean and well appointed. The bathroom small but doabable. They have handicap toilets which is just a nice touch. They have really paid attention to details.Grounds very well maintained.We enjoyed pools and hot tub. Great location. We will definately stay again when in the area

This facility really has potential- the downfall is the staff and lack of customer service. The first time we stayed here, we booked with several other families, requesting to be next to each other when we came. The staff told us that it would be no problem, however, when we got there, they gave us a really hard time about grouping us or even putting us in the same area of the campground. This was not a holiday weekend, it wasn’t overly crowded. The next time, I booked a 5 day weekend and then asked to extend my stay for one month. I was told by their agent that they do not allow campers over 10 years old to stay monthly. I submitted photos of my camper, asked what their reasoning was, requested any type of explanation and all they can tell me is “this is Sun Outdoors policy- no exceptions.” I called the Sun Outdoors customer service line and they told me “if photos are submitted, and everything checks out, Sun Outdoors will happily accept campers over 10 years old,” but the Hill Country Sun Outdoors location refused to let me stay for one month. Oddly enough, they are happy to extend my stay to 2 to 3 weeks for an outrageous amount of money. My kids had a great time when we visited this establishment. They have a lot to offer. Unfortunately, they don’t seem concerned about having repeat customers. Isn’t this supposed to be a family friendly, fun place to visit that your family wants to come back to? I found several other campgrounds in the area that are happy to accommodate us.…

We stayed here for a long weekend in one of their San Marcos cabins. Great place to stay and lots of fun. Only 2 drawbacks. Website says linens are included, when we arrived we found out that we needed linens for the loft beds. Also the loft area really need curtains or blinds so people can’t see in and the people asleep up there don’t have to get up with the sun.

My wife and I stayed at this location for three days during spring brake. The place is very family friend and also dog friend. People there are very nice with activities for all ages. The cottages are very well kept and very clean. Rooms are clean with towels replaced every day. There are a small convenience store and they are not far from the downtown. Place is very well organized.

We visited here twice. The first time was during the Texas winter storm that affected so many. The park took excellent care of everyone, providing water, meals, and making sure the propane delivery truck made its rounds to those that needed it. We came back a week later and stayed a month while taking care of health needs. We had great site near the bath house and dog park. The office staff were so friendly and accommodating, as well as the park site support staff. Pools, hot tubs, and exercise equipment were in great working order. We so enjoyed our stay here and will stay again whenever we are in the area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. :)

The room was very well maintained, it was tiny but loved it. Staff was very friendly and they kept property up. The one thing I wish was that had house keeping information in cottages. Also the calendar of events. They said they were going to have them but never saw anyone serving them. Realy was great place and can't wait to go back. 🙂

I can't say enough how much I loved this resort. I was hesitant at first because there were very few reviews that seemed to speak to the kind of vacation we were seeking. We are family with two very young kids, ages 2 and 4, and we needed a socially distant, but fun, vacation. The things that I loved about this vacation include the following: 1.) The staff was amazing. Every single person was kind, smiling, welcoming, and pleasant. 2.) The cabin, (Frio for us) was outfitted with so many things that made my life as a mom easier, from the paper towels to the dish soap, the pot holders, and the kitchen towels. I could not believe how well thought out all the little things were. I loved the fact that every room had a ceiling fan, the AC worked well (and the heat too, cause... you know Texas! Needed both in the SAME stay!). 3.) The beds were fabulous. Like puffy clouds. I like a plush bed and actually took a picture of the mattress tag at the end of our stay. 4.) The playground is great. It's good for big and littles and is in a good spot with great lines of sight. 5.) The pools look like you are at a resort and not just a motel. You need to see them. And they are HEATED folks. 6.) It was so quiet and peaceful, yet definitely urban. Make no mistake about it, this is no cabin in the woods "natural" experience, you are right off a main highway and about ten feet away on both sides from your neighbors. But for me a cabin in the woods only brings to mind a Blair Witch Project type situation, so this was a great compromise for me. Far enough from neighbors that the kids could be themselves, but close enough to feel safe.…
