This place was very unique and amazing! Worth the trip. We were able to have a parking spot and walk to enjoy everything instead of being stuck in the traffic. The room was amazing! We stayed in Haus #18. Bed was soo comfortable, the deck was extremely relaxing in the morning, hot in the afternoon though. Room was directly across from the Gruene River grill which was extremely convenient for dinner. Staying here allowed us to enjoy their front porch rockers and listen to the music without having to fight the crowds and be in the hustle and bustle of things. Extremely relaxing for us! I would highly recommend.

Hi 946robbiej. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a unique and relaxing experience with us at Gruene Mansion Inn. It’s great that you were able to take advantage of our convenient location and enjoy the local attractions without the stress of traffic. We’re so glad you found the bed comfortable and enjoyed the peaceful mornings on the deck of Haus #18. While our Texas Summers can get HOT in the afternoons, we hope the relaxing atmosphere made up for it! It’s also wonderful to hear that you appreciated the music from the front porch rockers—it’s one of the things that makes our place so special. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another peaceful getaway soon!

I’ve always wanted to stay at The Gruene Mansion Inn, but they were always booked when I would start planning our annual trip to Gruene; my expectations were high for this initial stay.
The Gruene Mansion Inn did not disappoint!!
Our room was incredibly clean, the a/c was nice and cold, and the location was perfect. We loved being able to park the car and walk to the bars, restaurants, and shops. And when we were tired of the crowds, we enjoyed the live music next door from the relaxed comfort of the rocking chairs scattered around the property.
The central location was well worth the background noise, and my husband and I didn’t have any trouble sleeping through it; however, there were complimentary ear plugs in our room just in case. So thoughtful!
Sadly, they’re not serving breakfast at this time, but we look forward to enjoying it on our next visit.
I highly recommend The Gruene Mansion Inn!

The property is beautiful and so convenient. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The only reason they got 4 stars we were charged for a bottle of Prosecco because we put it in the fridge. They said it’s posted on the price sticker that they charge for placing it in the fridge, we didn’t see a price sticker or we’d have taken the bottle with us. So be sure you go on a scavenger hunt in your room for hidden warnings and instructions.

My husband and I have stayed at Gruene Mansion Inn once or twice a year for about 15 years, but I think that will change after the bad experience of the past visit. My mum-in-law had never stayed at the mansion, so we decided to bring her for a weekend. We booked the Grand River Lodge, which has a bedroom and 2 bathrooms downstairs and a bedroom upstairs in the loft because we wanted to have separate sleeping space.

Not long after arriving, we noticed water dripping from the ceiling and a large puddle in one of the bathrooms. It appeared to have been dripping for a while so we were surprised the staff had not noticed it when prepping the room. I contacted the front desk, and a woman looked at the mess and said she would call someone to determine the problem. We agreed to go out for a while and give them time to address the problem. After a couple hours, I received a call that the A/C drip pan had overflowed and was now fixed. We returned and water was no longer dripping, but it was a very hot day and with A/C off while being repaired, the room had become unbearably warm. I let the woman at the front desk know the room was too hot to occupy, and we were going out again. We left for another three hours, and when we returned, the downstairs had cooled to 75 deg, but the loft was still really warm. It eventually cooled down overnight but was miserable, even with a fan blowing, for several hours.

When I got up in the morning, I expected to start my day with a cup of the Vienna coffee that had been provided on previous visits. I was upset to discover that despite the Mansion website stating they provide Vienna coffee, there were only Cuisinart pre-filled coffee packs. I went to the front desk to inquire about the coffee because I really like the Vienna and was told they no longer provide Vienna coffee in the rooms. If I wanted some, I could purchase a bag to brew in my room or buy a cup in The Pantry.

I explained that the website specifically mentioned Vienna coffee in each room and asked if I could have a cup as a goodwill gesture because of the A/C problem and being unable to use our room for several hours the previous day. I didn't think I was being overly demanding to request a $3 cup of coffee when we were paying $855 without taxes for 2 nights, but the woman at the front desk disagreed and told me I was not entitled to anything and if I wanted premium coffee, I needed to pay for it like everyone else. I declined.

The remainder of the stay was fine. The Coffee Haus down the street has a flavorful pecan blend coffee, and maybe I was being petty, but I wasn't going to pay the Mansion extra for premium coffee that their website states is included.

I enjoy the location of the Mansion, being able to sit on the porch in the evening and listen to music or in the morning with the sound of birds and river view. However, what I consider a lack of hospitality of this recent stay has made me rethink future visits. Maybe the staff is correct that asking for a free cup of coffee was excessive, but an apology doesn't cost anything, and we didn't even get that.

Hello kyriecat Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly value and appreciate your loyalty over the past 15 years and are disappointed to hear that your recent stay did not meet the high standards we strive for. I want to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the A/C issue in the Grand River Lodge. We understand how disruptive it can be, especially when traveling with family, and I’m glad we were able to address the problem during your stay. We did everything we could to make it right, including repairing the issue promptly and offering an alternate room, though I understand you opted to stay in the original room. I regret that the cooling process took longer than expected, and for that, I am truly sorry. Regarding the coffee, I completely understand your frustration. We recently switched our coffee service, and I regret that this change led to confusion and disappointment, especially after you were looking forward to enjoying the Vienna roast you’ve come to love. I also agree that our staff could have handled your request more graciously, particularly given the circumstances of your stay. I will be addressing this with the team to ensure that future situations like this are handled with more care and hospitality. Please know that your feedback is taken seriously, and we will be updating our website to reflect the current offerings. Additionally, we have made a note to ensure a bag of Vienna coffee is waiting for you on any future visits. We always aim to go above and beyond for our guests, and I am truly sorry we missed the mark during this visit. Thank you again for your time and feedback.

This is the first time I have stayed at the Gruene Mansion Hotel since it changed from a BED and BREAKFAST. Although the rooms are still the same - Lovey and of course the location hasnt changed - Great. The overall feel of the Inn has changed greatly.
All our check in info was deliveried by text - Yes it was very efficent but I missed the person to person experience. The lovely home cooked breakfast has been replaced by the Pantry. It was described to be by the lady at the front desk as a grab and go kind of place. Not what I was expecting at all. We did not eat from there so I cannot comment on the standard of the items available. We stay two nights and did not see anyone eating in the breakfast room each morning. We chose to get our breakfast else where. The prices have not changed but the experience has and not for the best. I will not stay here again as I feel for the price they are charging I can book a self catering apartment and have a full kitchen to use if needed. Shame really as it was one of my favourite places to stay.

Our stay was fantastic!! The staff is so friendly and helpful! We really appreciated the daily text checking on us and the fact that we could preorder breakfast. The location is very convenient and every place that we ate was good. If you’re looking for a trip away that is fun, easy and relaxing go to the Gruene Mansion.

We enjoyed a beautiful room with a peaceful view. Thoughtful amenities included small tables next to the bed, ceiling fans, and even another fan for white noise. There are 2 coffee flavors, cream and sugar available. We paired the Texas Pecan with breakfast to go on the veranda, under yet another ceiling fan, as we watched squirrels playing in the trees, and early kayakers enjoying the river below. A nice available purchase option included: 2 bottles of wine, red or white, and 1 champagne.

I had been looking forward to staying at the Gruene Mansion Inn for quite some time, but was so disappointed with the stay. There were stains on the bed sheets. I did bring this to the attention of the hotel staff. They asked for photos, which I provided, yet barely offered an apology and just stated they would address it with housekeeping. I cannot in good faith recommend the Inn and will definitely choose another spot to stay next time I come down to Gruene.

252meredithh Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your stay in August. I know we spoke at the front desk and in our parking lot after you checked out of the Fireside Lodge room. I did let you know that the housekeeping manager and I did find scuff marks on the fitted sheet on the trundle bed and apologized and took responsibility for the issue at that time with you. I mentioned to you that our housekeeping team takes their job very seriously and does try and make sure we only present the best of our linens in our rooms, but unfortunately some fall through the cracks. We even made a note in your master guest notes about extending a discount that we will plug into your reservation next time you book with us. We mentioned wanting you to come back so we can redeem ourselves. I apologize if you feel this was not handled properly and to your liking. Again, I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more positive experience and stay with us.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at this marvel. A friend and I were able to snag the two rooms IN the Mansion. What a treat. Beautifully decorated with period pieces it also takes care of our modern wants and needs. We opted to dine on the wrap around veranda then do some great people watching. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating AND FOR ONE NIGHT! Do yourself a favor and stay in the heart of Gruene at the Mansion…you will not regret it.

The Hotel has The Pantry open during office hours. The Pantry sells coffee, tea, drinks, breakfast and lunch grab and go items as well as other snacks throughout the day. This is a great way to grab breakfast on property without having to jump into your car or venture off site.
