We were in the Austin/San Antonio area for business and decided to skip a normal hotel and stay here. Glad we did. Cool vintage rooms, we stayed in #11 on the river. Great bed, showers/tubs and plenty of towels. Quiet community, surrounded by restaurants, shops and Gruene Hall. We highly recommend.
We stayed in Gruene at the Gruene Mansion Inn over the weekend we got married (very low-key, casual event). The suite was gorgeous, extremely convenient to the town, and cozy. A cold front came through while we were there and we sat by the fire; also spent some time on the upstairs balcony looking over the wall and enjoying live music from the venue next door. Friendly staff (though we never saw anyone - everything conducted over SMS!).
My friend and I stayed in one of the 2-level Sunday Haus rooms. The space was small but cute. I thought the day bed was very uncomfortable but my friend had to go up a spiral staircase to get to her bed and then come downstairs to go to the bathroom. I don't think either of us would stay in that room again.
We love this place! It’s only an hour from north Austin but you feel like your hours away from home! This place has tons of charm and our sweet was amazing!!! We stayed in the Gruene room and we loved it
The hotel’s location in Gruene is at the main intersection of the area. We stayed in Bertha’s Bedroom in the main house, and our wrap around balcony overlooked Gruene Hall, Gristmill where we had lunch that was awesome, several shops, and the grounds of the hotel which has a lot of character. The bedroom, bathroom, and spacious balcony/porch were very clean and supplied as needed. We stayed two nights and did not need to replenish any items during our stay. The bed was comfortable and/but a little on the soft side. The pillows were thick but soft. Also, the room had a mini-fridge that worked very well. In our experience, how well a mini-fridge cools can be iffy. Some reviews of the hotel negatively mention the noise coming from the nearby area. The “noise” is actually something called music. Gruene Hall was Covid closed, so I’m sure it was not as loud as it could have been; but, the surrounding sounds are part of what gives the hotel its character. If you are not a music lover or do not like a charming setting with ambient music giving you a soundtrack for your day, then you should probably stay in another area of New Braunfels (or a neighboring county or state). We are already discussing a return trip to New Braunfels and will stay at Gruene Mansion Inn again. We highly recommend it!…
